I think you should make the ropes in the ring act almost like a spring, for example, as you hit into them they will push you back with a lot of force, that would be super satisfying!
You almost had a breakdancing boxing game for a second there :D Well done on getting that IK system working. We all know the pain of things not working.
This series is very interesting. I like how you show all the struggles of game development. Not just the failed attempts but your mindset and frustration as well. Good job
I'm now up to episode 4 and I am loving how it has a vlog kinda concept while also the video being a devlog video! This is my new favourite devlog series and the game is looking so good!
I'm developing a game myself, so I can realte to this kind of struggle. I'm glad you've figured it out, what a great feeling that must have been. Keep up the good work, I'm enjoying your videos! Cheers from Munich.
Struggling with bugs is such a constant issue that happens when making cool things that at times people feel like giving up. Great job sticking with it!
Man, why did I miss this upload? D: I made sure to turn on notifications now, your game looks super dope and seeing you make progress is the best thing ever!
That was quite epik! Glad you figured out a solution to the rotation problem. Also thank for pointing out turbosquid as a resource, I'm going to start diving into learning some 3d modeling soon and I hadn't ever heard of it before. Also congrats on the continued channel growth! Looking forward to your next video!
Nice video. Most people make videos and don't show the struggles. Many of us know both the frustration of the situation and the joy when we solve it. Thanks for sharing
You're Making Great Videos! For Almost Nearly 10k Subscribers Watched All The 4 GameDev Videos Of Punch A Bunch, Love Your Videos. Keep Up The Great Work!
Haha cool that you took a break to play some games. Gotta keep yourself sane and take breaks, it’s important. And it’s so rewarding when you finally get the code to work. I had a moment last week where I had literally spent 7 hours trying to tweak the falling speed on the character movement for both when falling mid jump and or falling from a ledge, and it was incredible when it finally clicked for me.
Bet you never thought that 2 years after you made this video, you'd inspire a random Joe who was slipping into a depression. Thank you so much Pontypants. I'm currently binging your Punch a Bunch Devlog playlist.
love your devlogs, Ive had an idea for a boxing game for a while and love the way you are going about it. Also love your office space! keep up the great videos!
This is gonna sound kinda sappy but I just think Ponty's devlogs are so satisfying and wholesome, he doesn't just talk about the game but he talks about his personal life and he has so much content about this game I'm probably gonna buy it no matter the cost.
I just started watching your devlog series and I’ve tried using unity but gave up immediately. You have inspired men to try again. Even though you are using unreal engine, you have inspired me to try again. Thank you for making this series!
Is it possible that IK is picking your head insted of the enemy one? I guess it's not really important now, but it's something to take in mind if you ever get back to this problem ;)
Pontypants, you can also use an opensource application called autover. I find it very useful and lightweight. I sadly had only discovered it AFTER I accidentally destroyed my entire project lol.
Thanks for the heads up on those Unreal demo/sample learning projects. So so helpful. Had seen a few but there's way more than i thought. Awesome work btw.
Great video! And congrats on fixing the issue! Might I also recommend sketchfab for wanting to look at 3D modelled references as sometimes turbosquid will not have everything you need :)
Pigeon gives thanks many thanks for introducing TurboSquid..Pigeon says you are on a roll...Pigeon knows you will make it big..Pigeon is inspired...Pigeon... -PigeonDev
This idea is pretty big. If you land a head punch or some sort of special attack the color of the enemy will go away from the head down and you can replace blood with paint and then once the color drains the opponent is defeated.
really inspired by how you solved the problem i am also into game development and get really bumped out when i run into small problems like these but i`ll remember how you never gave up and do the same
Hi so i have a suggestion. I think this is going to be a local multiplayer or just a multiplayer game. So maybe u can add an offline gamemodes were you play against an AI. Keep it up man
I used to use Trello, its pretty nice. Over time I regressed back into using a single google doc... Standard font for future plans, Bold for in-progress, and Italic for completed. Works well but for the fact that I'm navigating around one massive document.
Sick video, you should definitely look into using UE4 Cable components as the ropes in the boxing ring, it would add a whole other level of realism in terms of physics simulation :))
I know you already fixed it, but another solution for the IK bug could be, instead of it pointing to the head at all times, it only would do so when pressing a button, this would also allow you to set different buttons to point to different parts of the body, and since when you slightly rotaded the boxer it would fix the bug, then only pointing after you're in position, shouldn't create it in the first place and would also make it more realistic I believe cause right now the constant head pointing looks kinda silly :p Hope it helps! And keep up the awesome work :D
Make the ropes in the ring bend when you push towards them. It makes the scene feel so much more dynamic!
Yeah check out the “Blueprint Splines Content Examples” I bet that would work!
@@SmilingRob Yea I think thats a good idea!
@Jackson Deutsch cool idea
this aged well lol, he just added that
always get those
Got an ad at the perfect time. “I can’t get this stuff to work... I have an idea - LETS PLAY RAID SHADOW LEGENDS”
Hahah this cracked my up XD
I had a ad say crash bandicoot
Mine suggested Asphalt 9. hehe
raid shadow legends fixes every problem
him: uses blender light mode
me: his eyes must be of godly power
dude i even watch youtube in dark mode! xD
I like light mode some times
I always skip the blender part. It looks wierd in light mode.
I didn't even know blender _had_ a light mode until now
@@bity-biteI fear no man, but that, thing…it scares me

@@Pontypants definitely did!
This was a very epik video! Glad to see you problem solve even if it took you forever haha
Production was absolutely insane on this one dude!!! Wow
You almost had a breakdancing boxing game for a second there :D
Well done on getting that IK system working. We all know the pain of things not working.
This is my favorite devlog series currently, the quality and production is awesome. Can't wait to play the game!

Very underrated youtuber. Your videos are one of the greatest videos on the platform and your game design skills are out of this world
Oh wow :D Thank you so much!!
I'm now up to episode 4 and I am loving how it has a vlog kinda concept while also the video being a devlog video! This is my new favourite devlog series and the game is looking so good!
I love the way you teach and explain even though you are new by yourself :D
I'm developing a game myself, so I can realte to this kind of struggle. I'm glad you've figured it out, what a great feeling that must have been. Keep up the good work, I'm enjoying your videos! Cheers from Munich.
You can have Santa as a secret character! This game is going to be so epic!!!
Keep up the good work man! :)
Struggling with bugs is such a constant issue that happens when making cool things that at times people feel like giving up.
Great job sticking with it!
You are like a mixture of Casey Neistat and Dani but calmer and sane.

hahaha very good video, congratulations you were able to solve that problem, (the crazy arm)

That’s why they say “Always use Quaternions for rotations”. Loving your videos though! The way you tell the story is awesome 👏🏻

Love this dev log series! Wish these videos were longer.

Whoo!! I was waiting for this one. I just entered the video. lol

Instead of scratching your head for this IK mechanics,
You can just make the opponent face you as well 😃

GR8 U did it! Good Devlog!
You should make the ropes on the ring elastic so you can fling yourself for some extra speed or fling your straight opponent in to your fist.
another amazing video!
Thanks man
I love your devlog its inspiering me to also try making games for my self keep working hard man :)
