I was wondering if you would come around on the sandblasting! You have some rust, but overall it looks pretty solid! Also, I appreciate your camera techniques (inset videos and the signs separating each step). Good luck with the project....
That little bit of fur on the plug is actually really good. :-) looks to be in great shape. The difference in shades is simply due to age and usage. As long as you don’t see any chunks you’re in pretty good shape :-)! Glad to see you are still at it :-) Like stated above, it looks like your cables are in great shape. The stuff made “overseas“ is going to cause you a lot of frustration. When you go to putting this back I guarantee it…. Unfortunately that’s the way it is pretty much with most of the parts we get nowadays. You will have to spend sometimes and in ordinate amount of time and effort to get those parts to fit. Again, I will reiterate what I said, in the very beginning, if the original German stuff can be used over, use it in every case! Keep at it :-)!
Thanks Dale! Yes, I'll take your advice and reuse as much as I can. I was so surprised they were in such great shape. I thought for sure I'd need to replace them so I already bought replacement cables. Live and learn!
Save all the parts you removed off the pan, to compare to the new parts. Sometimes the new parts don't fit like the old ones. Some of the old cables you removed, are still good for another 50 years of service, with some fresh grease.
Hi there! Will do! Like I said to Dale, I was so surprised they were in such great shape. I bought the replacement parts a while back so I'm out that money. I suppose I could sell them on eBay. I have not ordered any replacement parts for the front and rear suspension, transaxle, brakes, etc., so I'm glad about that. I'll take those apart first and figure out what I'll need for sure. They I'll order it all.
Very well done my friend! That one was a bugger I can't believe how tight that was. Please be careful with getting gear lube and oil and chemicals on your skin. Please wear latex gloves my beautiful friend. A friend passed from blood cancer from that ❤❤❤❤
Hi Trish. Haven't had a chance to watch and comment lately, but I got caught up yesterday. Great video. As someone else mentioned, it looks like the floor pans are in really good shape. Do you know if they've been replaced in the past? I really admire you patience and perseverance with this project. I'm not sure if I could do it. Meaning I don't have the patience. This car really will be a labor of love when it's done. My car (Beetlejuice) is finally in paint, and I'm hoping reassembly will start within the next week or so. Hopefully that will go quickly since my car is supposed to be highlighted by Just Buggin' at the huge Bug Jam Festival in November in FL. That's if I can get my part done after I get the car back. As I mentioned before, I was lucky that my car was 98% rust free. I was also fortunate that I was able to get a "frame on" restoration done professionally at a cost I can live with. But part of me is a little envious that I wasn't in a position to do it myself like you are. Oh well, it is what it is. I hope to be driving it in late October. When you get to the body work and interior work I'll share a few things I learned. The hard way. Can't wait for the next video.
Thanks Gary! I don't know if the pans were ever replaced. I don't think so because so many other things are so worn out. I'd assume much of that would have been repaired if the body was ever removed. Yes, this is a labor of LOVE! I'm almost certain I will do another restoration because the vast majority of money I have spent is on tools. Now that I have all the tools and some know-how, the next one should be more fun! Very exciting about Bettlejuice! I know you told me but I can't recall: what color did you pick? It was hot pink before, right?
@@TrixedOut Yes ma'am, it was Pepto Bismol, Barbie HOT pink. When it was the Pink Panther. Cute, but not my style. Now it is Beetlejuice and will naturally be gloss black. It's in paint now. I decided to put a set of white rocker stripes on the side, just like you have on the beetle in your thumbnail. It ought to look good on the black paint.
It’s always good to see your new updates!
Thank you! And thanks for taking the time to comment!
Great job!
Thanks!

@@garybush6117 that’ll look great!
Good video, Pan is in good shape. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and go the expensive route. What is the cost of blasting where you are?
I had a guy come to my house. It cost $500 and it was worth every cent. My next video will be all about that. Thanks for commenting!
