Simon says: I’ll fix the gear selector. Then, no crowsfoot wrench? I’ll make one. Then, I found the problem and it’s inside the transmission, so I’ll open up an automatic transmission while lying on my back under the car. Found an internal part is worn because of 62 years of use. So I use a welder to fix it. All done! An unbelievably great video! Well done, Simon.

This is the best car video I've seen and I've seen thousands. I took a long time to watch it from start to finish. I did not want to miss a second of it. First, he starts off with a cool car (convincing me it doesn't have to be a two-door this time). Then he goes in real time, step by step on refreshing it, not perfecting it. I don't know how he knew about that transmission trick. Then he takes his '65 to the key shop proving he's a Galaxie man. There is no annoying music, no talking and trying to be funny. It's real, clever, and informative. I'd like to see the '62 Galaxie on a long trip. Well done!

But thanks to the fact that I was interested in technology and mechanics since childhood, I learned a lot myself. When I bought my first car, a 1987 Subaru Leone Wagon, I was 22 years old. Since then, I have been repairing and servicing my cars myself, it is no longer just an interesting hobby, but a lifestyle.

I have three 62 Fords in my memory bank. 1st grade, Debbie Stalling's parents had one like this. Burgundy four door hardtop. Next, my Dad bought a four door sedan (rust free faded blue paint) just to get the engine, a 292 I think for his 55 Ford pickup. I took the ps pump from it to put on my 61 Thunderbird. Finally, I was installing satellite receivers in the 1980s and went to a bar in the absolute middle of nowhere on a state highway. The owner had a blue 62 Ford four door sedan parked in the parking lot. The parking lot was absolutely and I mean completely made from beer bottle caps. Thanks for bringing back memories. I do see a 62 Ford occasionally but it is usually a convertible or a two door hardtop.

Love that Galaxy, my stomach turned around when i saw it at first but it came by after the scrubbing of the interior and pressure wash.
I would not have guessed that it would come out so nice, i saw one once in deep blue that was a nice combo with all the stainless/chrome, i fell in love instantly.

You turned a what looked like a piece of junk into what is probably the most promising restoration project I've ever seen on YT. You literally fixed a major transmission issue on a car that is over 60 years old like it was a walk in the park. Props to you! You have a lot of promise!

GREAT VIDEO!! When I was 10 years old, my cousin Vic came by our house to show my brother his brand new 64 Galaxie convertible. I remember it like it was yesterday. They let me come for a ride on that summer night in Chicago. I was totally freaked out that the console gear selector lit up the gears. It was gray with red interior.

i had a 1964 custom 500, which is a stripped galaxie. mine had two options, a 289 v8 and an automatic trans. no radio, no power brakes, no power steering, single speed wipers, i really liked that car. my dad bought a 1967 4 door brand new, i think it cost in the nieghborhood of 3400 bucks. his had a 390 four barrel, power everything, light blue. he drove it until the mid 1980s. great videos man,

When I was watching you cleaning that hot rod it struck me that when those cars were designed and built it was done with style and class. Just look at the design on the C pillar. Those cars were designed by people who, whether they knew it or not, were building a car that would still be a beautiful automobile 60 some years later. Total respect for what you do with, to, and for them. And just for the record, your bumper modification technique had me laughing my ass off! Rock on!

This too shows promise for you as a career. Just do me one favor...........VOCs. Don't get them in you. Don't get them on you. You'll thank me when you are 50. Keep up the good work.
