Outstanding my friend!! And thank you for the support!! I have to catch up on your videos. Things have been hectic for me.
Thanks Slade! I"m working on that self interview!
Outstanding progress ! .. and the background music added to the nail biting suspense !
Epic Thumbs Up !
😇❤
Thank you so much 😀 Nail biting suspense!! Hahahahaha! Thank you for your comment!
Thank you for showing all the struggles!! Lately I’ve spent a lot of time struggling under my 1970 Type I trying to replace the long(er) stud that holds the oil drain plate and more importantly the oil pickup inside the case in place … got the bad one out, fished the washer and nut from the inside of the case… now figuring out how to put the new one in… It never ends! 😅
Oh geez! It does never end but it is all so fun for me because it is my first time doing all this and it's my dream come true to have an old bug again! I just wish I had more time and money. Thank you so much for your comment.
Keep plugging along. Enjoying the videos, watched two so far. Great background music.
Thank you! Which episode’s background music did you like?
The engine start video. Nice calming music to work on a car.
Much appreciated, although scary. Up until now I felt I could do whatever you did. But that engine pull leaves me thinking I'd never get it back together again. Let's see how much detail you share on the reassembly, just might restore my confidence. I have a 71 Super waiting for my attention. Fortunately it has very little rust and so now welding is needed. I can't weld.
If I can do it, you can do it! Honestly, you should use videos from my guroup (guru group) to see how to do all this stuff. @SladesVWBeetle is an awesome source of how-to videos for us newbees. Another excellent source is BugMeVideo.com but those videos are not free. My plan for the engine reinstall is to do it while the body is off the chassis. CT, a very popular TH-camr, did that with one of his bugs. Also, I'm going to make the rear apron removable which means the engine can be removed and installed by just rolling it up to the transaxle rather than pulling it out/lifting it up through the bottom. I'll be sure to include all the details when I do it! Thank you so much for your reply!
Oh, and, "You can't weld, yet!" We tell all our students to put "yet" at the end of sentences like, "I can't do division." I'm actually a little afraid of welding but I'm going to force myself to do it!
Enjoyed your video you old bat, your an inspiration to many people out there as first time bug owners
Bahahahahaha!!! Thank you!
There's no need to disassemble the body to get the engine out of these cars.
Correct-a-roonie! A removable rear apron will make removing and reinstalling the engine easier, though. Just do the stuff I do in this video (plus the throttle cable), not all the other videos where I pull off fenders, bumpers, etc.
well done. thats not an easy job for one person
Thank you!
Awesome video!!!!!!! I enjoy all of your videos:)❤
Yay! Thank you!
you should be proud
Thank you! I am proud of myself!
nice job.
Thanks again!
Those wires that you cut, (22 min time), are the power wires for the reverse lights.
Oh okay! I thought they were connected to the starter. Do the wires on the starter also go to the lights?
@TrixedOut
The 2 wires on the starter, one goes to the battery and the other one goes to the ignition switch. Look it up on the service manual. Color diagrams are available.
@@vintage76vipergreenBeetle So the wires you said were for the rear lights are actually the wires connected to the starter. They have nothing to do with the rear lights, right? I have the manual so, when I get to that stage, I'll use the wiring diagrams for sure.
@@TrixedOut The wires you cut go to the back up lights switch, in front of the the transmission. The back up lights switch gets power from the coil with a inline fuse. Maybe the PO add wires and I'm the one who is confused.
@@vintage76vipergreenBeetle Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. It'll all work out in the end. I've got a continuity tester I can use to make sure all the wires match the diagrams and that there are no shorts. Thank you so much for all the help you are giving me! I really appreciate it!
Those motorcycle jacks are great for removing vw engines. I have been using one for years.
Yes, they are! Most videos show people using floor jacks to remove engines and I just thought, "No way in God's green earth am I going to try that." I could just see the engine dumping on the ground and all the related disasters that would happen. This Old Bat needs leverage, hydraulics and whatever else I can get to make up for my lack of big muscles! I'm not saying you don't have big muscles or that you are an Old Bat for using a motorcycle stand. It seems to be an obvious and smart thing to do no matter how strong one may be! I'm just saying, I am constantly thinking of ways I can do things that appear to need manly muscles. I saw one guy bench press a transaxle out of his bus! That would not be me! Thanks for the comment!
@@TrixedOut Here's a video of me using a my motorcycle jack. th-cam.com/video/z5slPh2ApFw/w-d-xo.html
That was very cool to watch! What a beautiful engine and Bug you have! Love the color. I'm thinking about making my rear apron removable so taking the engine in and out will be easier. CT put the engine on the chassis and then put the body back on. I may try that since I'll have the body off. But once the body is back on, I'd like engine removal and re-installation to be easier if I ever need to do that again.
@@TrixedOut Thank you, for nice comment on my bug. I had a local vw friend do the body work and paint, 10 years ago. It cost me a nice 70 type 3 fastback. If you're going to build a hot rod bug, with HP engines, having a removable rear apron would be a good idea. Just my opinion. Stock 1600 engines, don't break down that easy, unless someone didn't build it right.
@@vintage76vipergreenBeetle I'll keep that in mind. I'm just thinking that I'll need every advantage when getting it back in. Once it's in, I don't expect to have to pull it again but you never know.
