Holy, this is such an amazing review, I'm definitely gonna take notes for my own channel. I like how you just approach the phone from a really real standpoint, not everyone is a tech TH-camr that gets the new phone every year, this covers those of us with less money to spend that also want a great phone! Let's get you monetized bro!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! I really appreciate it :D If you wish to chat to me about anything my Discord user is @oliverstech at the moment. I'm hoping this channel grows eventually, been grinding since 2019. But hey, it's paying off with this video!
@@OliversTechTrust me, I have made loads of vlogs before, It wont be as great as yours, only reason why anyone cant see them anymore is bc I privated them cuz I went into the DXing community.
Had the s23 for over a year if anyone is concerned i have experienced zero slow down, just as good as i bought it, the stats show the snap dragon gen 3 isnt really that much of a jump in performance/efficiency from gen 2 unlike the jump from gen 1 the improvments are mostly just the AI features built in to the chip.
Yeah exactly. The S23 and S24 are very similar devices for sure. If you're looking to save money you may as well get an S23 since there's not much different, especially if you're getting a global variant (exynos on the S24, SD on S23). Thanks for your comment 😀
Fantastic video as always! Had everything I would want to know about the S23 and the editing was very well done :D (YT algorithm boost this man or else..)
Yeah, you'll be more than satisfied for standard usage. Mine has treated me really well for the past month or so and I expect it should last me a minimum of 3 years, if not longer
Interesting. I didn't think the jump from SD Gen1 to Gen3 was that significant really but then I haven't had first-hand experience coming from a completely different range of phones
Yeah! It's a really nice phone and served me great in 2018-2021 when I had it. I would have stuck with Sony but I wasn't really sure about the newer models: heard a lot of negative things about battery life. Been happy with the S23 though :D
I'd suggest it if you're a fan of the OneUI 6 UI, I haven't really used Xiaomi first-hand but if you prefer how that feels go for it. S24 SD is very similar so you may as well get the S23 if you're looking to save money, but if the CPU/battery advantages benefits you go for that :)
@@ironmangx-1969 the 128gb is also the slower memory, if you can hold out for the 256g, please do. If not I would suggest going with s24 256g instead, the exynos this year does not appear to be as unusable as previous years (still behind compared to SD 8 gen 3, but on par or slightly ahead of SD gen 2).
In the UK, yes, S23 comes with a snapdragon gen 2, the s24 as an exynos chip again unless you pay a premium for the S24 ultra to get the snapdragon gen 3. I won't upgrade my s23 ultra as it does the job perfectly. I really wish Samsung kept the snapdragon for all regions
@@OliversTech the s10 snapdragon version had better battery management. Exynos is not good for anything. I think s23 with 1440p would still have good battery because of its processor. Right now with 1080p it has amazing battery
Ah yeah, to he honest, I find the 1080p looks clear enough for a 6.1 inch screen, but maybe if they put 1440p on the plus model, that would make more sense. It's all preference of course
I find the background music helps to add ambience to the video, but thanks very much for your input. I'll see into alternative music choices. It overpowers the interference from my mic so it sounds a lot cleaner to me
Is your A53 in good condition? If it is and for only needed standard usage, you may as well keep what you've got. But if it feels too slow or maybe it's gotten damaged, it could be worth looking into an S23. Feel free to let me know more details and I'll be happy to reply
@@OliversTechno nothing is broke great phone but camera performance and storage is my problem rn as 118gb is almost full😅. I am a person who uses the phone always and get 12 hours of screen on time with mostly TH-cam because I am free rn. But also play games on the other hand which are farely demanding games for some reason pubg players better than roblox like it gets super hot after 1 hour and me playing pubg for 1 hour not a lot of heat.
Performance on this phone is great same with cameras but just note for heavy SoT S-series phones might not be what you're looking for, unless you're happy with the Ultra? As per my testing I can get 4-6 hours combined use screen-on time but ofc it varies. Lucky for me I barely use any storage lol, so I'm quite comfortable with 128gb. Unfortunately new phones don't have an SD slot anymore, my a52s did which was always nice as a backup but yeah seems you just have to get a new phone if you need more space.
@@AosmoYT , A54 is a much better device than A53. It also makes photos that are almost on par with the S23 (except for the lack of a 3x telephoto camera). In fact, last years' A54 produces considerably better photos and videos than the new A55.
@@AutomotiveCNC I know that but I was early when I bought my phone it early March. My birthday my dad bought me it. If I wanted I think 1 or 2 weeks I could have had the a54. Me and my dad bought a54 black for my cousin and mother for way less with more ram and storage. I fell very riped off from buying my phone I payed way to much for my a53 which at that point is 1 year old. Currently I have two an oppo a9 2020 my old phone which had a shattered glass and a broken frame and a53 5g. I repaired my oppo as wanted my photos but unsuccessful. My oppo has 8gb ram while my a53 has 6gb . The difference is a lot I mean a lot. In my a53 I can maybe have 2 or 3 if I am lucky. In my oppo I have my entire thing. I checked my ram utilisation yea it way more than a53 . Plus it opens day to day apps faster. Plus I can have 2 to 3 days of battery life on my oppo as it is a secondary phone one downside is charging it is slow 2 or 21/2 hours to charge full. I am currently using my oppo to type this out as my Samsung is currently charging.
From what I've read, that is a hardware issue with early s23 models, newer made s23s shouldn't have that issue (mine is from aug of 2023 and doesn't have that issue). If you do get one with a flawed camera, please try to return it immediately.
S24 only excels the S23 in terms of peak brightness But S23 is still a beast Snapdragon processors are anyday better optimised and reliable than samsungs exynos Considering you get all the AI features on S23 Price is also cheap S23>S24

Great video Oliver, deffinetly better editing than me ofc and I love the great inside detail about the S23.
Thanks! I'm sure your editing isn't that bad

@@OliversTechI also use the S23 and they made all the right choices. Exynos coming back globally was a huge disappointment on the S24/S24 Plus..
@@OliversTechone definite advantage the s24 has is the 7y of updates, that is going to bite many of the s23 users after 4 or so years.
@Vordigon1 A lot of people upgrade their phone after about 5 years anyway to be fair. In my case I'll just custom rom if it gets too outdated
So i go for s23, thanks:)

Hey Oliver
I'm confuse between s23 and iphone 13 and pixel 7 pro ?
What would you suggest.....
How's the camera on s23....
Great detailed video with absolutely needful segments.Keep it up❤
Appreciate it :D
how do you have under 1000 subscribers? this review was really useful and just what I needed.
Appreciate the support! Hoping I get there eventually:)
Currently im using the S21FE. So i want to switch to the regular S23. Will that be a good decision?

I upgraded from an S22+ to a S24+, and I feel it was worth the upgrade. The S24+ is so much better in performance, display, and battery life.
Interesting. I didn't think the jump from SD Gen1 to Gen3 was that significant really but then I haven't had first-hand experience coming from a completely different range of phones
Best review on s23 .. you are good

@@ironmangx-1969 what did you end up going with? If it's the s23, how has it been so far?
@Vordigon1 i couldn't get a hand on a 256G S23 that's why I don't have one yet. I don't want to opt for the 128G, too small of a memory.

The S24U is essentially an S23U with better performance in the important x5 - x10 range...

Yeah it would have been such a big hit if they did but oh well lol
If you dont have any one of them and you want to upgrade. I should buy s23 or s24 exynes!
S23 snapdragon is generally better known than s24 exynos
No review for the Ai features for the s23 series?
Might make a separate video around them if enough people are interested
Iphone 15 pro worth as a first Iphone? Coming from an old and broken oppo
Any reason you're looking at an iPhone? 15 pro is good, but it's pretty expensive, and it's essentially the same as the 14 pro
how much it costed bro?
They can be found for £500 on Amazon UK new :)
This phone is soo good it's unreal. Everything you need. Battery is unreal too. 9/10. If it had a 1440p display it would be 10/10😊
1440p would be nice for sure. But it would probably suffer from the same issue the S10+ had where it absolutely drains the battery

One Ui 6.1 S23?
Yes, I own a S23 and it gave me an option to update to One UI 6.1
