I actually kind of like that Samsung hasn't changed their design. Like you said, the similarly to the previous model means that the internal improvements will take the spotlight and be more noticeable. It also prevents people from impulse buying a new phone just because it looks different, because I know there are people out there that do.
@@i_am_b491 We say the same thing when apple does that. Infact they hardly change anything for 2-3 years. And as he said, Some people buy phones based on looks. They will be the one to be pissed off. I jumped from a samsung Galaxy A71 to the S23 Ultra.. I haven't had a flagship phone since the S4.. so this is amazing for me.. the screen is insanely better than my last phone, and better than my SOs iPhone 13 pro max.. the sound coming from the phone itself truly surprised me.. the capabilities of the S pen has been fun too.. all around very happy with my decision to buy this
@flawles It's a huge step up.. plus, my A71 wouldn't really charge anymore.. only certain charging cables would work, and it would only sometimes connect to my car. Plus, it was a pain in the ass to find a phone case that wasn't a cheap ass one from Amazon.. I liked my A71, but after a year, it started to suck.
All phone companies are changing/upgrading their products less and less for each launch. But is a new model in any predominant brand even necessary? If they focused more on upgrading the software every year and only launching a phone when they reach a groundbreaking level of change and upgrades it would be really nice as well. Should make a video addressing this since you seem to have great impacts on the tech world. Love your videos btw great quality and thought put into each one!!!
@@bangedmybro the chipset alone is worth the upgrade, coming from a massive hater of Samsung. However, other than that, Samsung is basically robbing you.
@SouL you sound broke af the phone is much quicker at launching apps and reading files. And the camera upgrades are a huge deal because we use snapchat/insta every day. That 200MP camera alone is a big enough upgrade. It's a bigger jump than s21 to s22 that's for sure!
So, I'm sticking with my s22 ultra for 2 more years. I don't think the upgrade is that significant but it's cool nonetheless. For those getting this phone, I hope you enjoy it cause it's pretty cool.
Yeah, I don't see enough of a difference between the phones. The biggest thing is the CPU. Don't much care for the space zoom because it's practically useless without a tripod. Storage has never been an issue for me, nor has the battery life. I'll wait until the S25 Ultra
Currently using the 22 Ultra which I'm really happy with, will probably upgrade when the 24 or 25 Ultra gets released, will be a slightly bigger step up then

I think it's more a testament to Samsung lowering the bar consistently that any change is a welcomed one, even of it is worse in the long run. It's not significant or worthy of being called a follow up. In the conventional sense this would be called a revision and a sequel in name alone. Samsung are getting lazy af and focusing on the wrong things with cameras.
***PSA*** Remember folks, just like with the S20, just like with the S21 and just like with the S22 series last year, the camera quality we see at launch will NOT be the same camera quality 6-8 months down the line. Samsung always updates the camera quality, this is pretty much expected now, so if the camera quality is slightly improved now over the S22 series, then expect that margin to widen considerably after a few updates once again. Samsung's AI models get trained as you use them, and the only way to improve the quality is to get these phones in real world hands in real world situation gathering that real world data. So in effect, we consumers help improve the quality of the camera, and I'm all for that.
Never expect future updates, speculation isn't good evidence to make such a large financial decision this is probably grounds for a good look at the cameras later down the line though
People don’t buy products with the “promise” that it will be better in the future. They buy it as is. While improvements are nice, we judge products as they are being sold. A “promise” for camera improvement is not guaranteed, something which ppl fail to realise
@@monetised4347 lol what do you mean by never expect updates 🤣🤣 Samsung always gives awesome updates making the phone better and better as u use it (only flagship ones)
@@thachronic100 Again, the evidence says it is a safe bet. Statistically there will be camera updates. Samsung has not slowed down in this department, they have sped up, and again, the evidence is all there to build statistics out of. @@RobbieKhan people don’t buy a product for “promises”. If the camera disappoints and doesn’t improve, what recourse does the purchaser have? As someone who's not the biggest tech nerd, your videos always still seem to entertain me somehow. Love how you work to appeal to such a wide audience, regardless of who is watching the video!
this is actually nice. i feel like smartphone companies like samsung and apple have previously tried to go all out on their newest phones, but recently have stuck to very minor "quality of life" improvements. keeping the design more or less the same, really only upgrading along the path of technology improvements
Yeah because people aren't begging for stupid gimmicky features anymore, but they've also stopped complaining about all the features that have been removed over the past few years.
7:27 There is just a tiny example on this photo to show that the 100x zoom on the S23 Ultra has been somehow improved and that is that on the photo with the grip cover case. On the S23 you can see more of the rough texture than with the S22, and that is NOT only noise because on the S23 you can kinda make out that there are some white letters inside the case, whose say vertically 'SAMSUNG' , whereas with the S22, you only see a white line. The zoom with the face impressed me honestly. I did not expect that
I have used my S22 Ultra for a few months now, and I can't complain about anything. I moved from an S10+ so the jump was miles big and it really felt like it deserved the money even though I paid like 900$ for the phone. Seeing the S23 Ultra, I have to say that, even though I love the design of the S22, keeping it the exact same is not one of the best moves that Samsung made. Also, I bought the S22 mostly for the camera, which didn't disappoint at all. Seeing the new camera, I can say that it is definitely an upgrade, but I cannot say that it is worth to go from an S22 Ultra to an S23 Ultra. If you really need a better camera, for almost 1300$ it would be better to buy a DSLR and get better photos and videos, as the S22 Ultra has a more than good camera for day to day photos. I can see myself buying a new phone when the S24 Ultra appears maybe. Then the jump would be higher and the difference would definitely be worth it. I just hope that Samsung doesn't randomly decide to reduce the quality of the cameras with dumb software updates

I got mine yesterday. Coming from a Note 10+ and the difference is really noticeable. The screen is far more vivid, thanks to the new and faster memory chips applications get installed much faster, the camera got better as well, especially in low light environments. For users with S22 Ultra this is probably not that huge upgrade, but for me it was. The Snapdragon is definitely one of the best features of this phone.
@@domgdesign299 for me yes, technically I feel the diference when comparing with Note 10+, but the price is still a big discussion point.. If you are currently on a S21 or S22 generation, the impact is not that huge.
If this happens with the S23 I secretly expect them to go with the big surprise on the Flip/Fold lineup. Seeing other companies like Oppo making a bigger outside screen, imagine the combination of Snapdragon gen 2 and a bigger screen on the flip!
I heard rumours that they have developed a new hinge that can reduce the overall thickness of the phone as well as eliminate the crease running down the middle of the big screen, all of that while still having the same waterproof rating. That's going to be wild.

Also, the vibration isn't as strong as the S10+ for some reason where I sometimes miss calls on vibration or notifications.
The battery on the S22 Ultra is shockingly bad. I turned on additive battery and after a few days it just keeps battery saver on 24/7 to maintain charge for a day. It's awful.

A really great idea for a new vid, would be to do a head to head comparison between all the flexibility and features of Nova Launcher and One UI on the NEW S23 Ultra. I am convinced that the experience with the Nova Launcher is much better, but I'd love to see it go head to head with the One UI's newest edition. I tried to stay on the One UI skin when I first got my S23U, but kept running into limitations which made me long for Nova. All the extra gestures, instead of just three, allow me to really use my phone so much more efficiently. And having more choices for app grids on the home screen and app screen was a must, instead of being limited to just a few choices on One UI. Please do a head to head, and let's see if I'm missing something or not. Thanks.
@@SVW1976Nova Launcher is great, but it seems to have become abandonware... 😕 Also the last major update (or one of them) did away with a host of features (scroll speed etc.) - I'm guessing it must've been a limitation of one of the incremental Android updates rather than an intentional decision to remove such an objectively beneficial mechanic from their launcher 🤷♀
Still have my s21 ultra. Fantastic phone. S23 ultra seems like a great phone, and the cameras look stellar. But get back to me when there's no longer a punch hole on the display, and we have an underdisplay camera. I'll upgrade when my phone can just be a full screen like they did with the fold.
On Samsung Canada's website, they offer me $800 trade in value on my S21 ultra (128GB), then $200 off the cost of the 23 Ultra because of pre-order, and $150 off (Cost $50) for a pair of ear budz 2. The 512GB version with trade in cost me around $850 Canadian. Saves me the hassle of trying to sell it private, my carrier in Canada doubles the cost of the phones and charges you like $60 a month for it and their trade in value was $350. The discount on the trade in, is applied right away at checkout and you don't have to send them the phone until they send you the new one. I was about to pull the trigger on the Pixel 7 Pro, but feel this wasn't a bad deal.

You can say its more or less qualcomm who impressed. this time their sd gen 2 was actually able to rival neck to neck with A16. It has great performance and efficiency(even better than A16 itself in GPU test) and might defeat iphones in battery test. well lets see.

It's nice to have but when choosing a phone I would never consider speaker quality. So many other things for me to compare that matter more to me. I would understand it being important for low end phones, especially ones without a headphone jack. Getting Bluetooth headphones that aren't awful costs a decent amount of money, but if you're buying a flagship phone without a headphone jack and you aren't gonna buy Bluetooth audio devices I feel like you have a budgeting problem.
@@ianmacdonald4163 idk about you, I mean, I have some pretty darn good wireless IEMs but I still do consider speaker quality when I look at a phone. I recently went from an ASUS ROG phone 2 to a pixel 7 pro, and holy cow, the speakers on the pixel are far worse. Things like ringtones and notification sounds are genuinely hindered by a lack of a proper set of speakers-especially when someone like myself outfits certain people and applications with certain ringtones/notification sounds I personally believe a phone's speakers are pretty dang useful in everyday life. But I can also definitely see where you're coming from; I wouldn't make speakers a dealbreaker ever, but if I was stuck between two phones, I would definitely use speakers as a way to justify one, because at the end of the day, if you ever need to pop a quick song out, they can be useful in a pinch!

Just ordered this phone today! I've been using the Samsung Note + for the last several years, and since it was discontinued I was a little upset, but after reading the specs on the S23 Ultra, I am a little excited.
Changing the design of the phone body just for the sake of changing it when everyone loves the current design seems like a really bad idea. I’m so glad they kept that design because it’s just so clean. I love it.
Your making me think about sticking to samsung since my ancient s8 is going to ride off into the sunset soon. would love to hear how it compares to the pixel 7 with its updates

If they reintroduced the micro-SD card, it would make a real difference. That external memory is so useful for _large_ media files, either downloaded shows to watch on the go (perfect unlimited 5G doesn't cover the entire planet) or when you are recording a long event - say a recital or concert by a family member [one of the layers of hell BTW]. But for me no expandable memory is a deal breaker, these days it adds a TB… that can be swapped out in a emergency.
They won't do. The main reason is people pop in slow SD cards and the experience won't be very nice, that affects brand image. Imagine they are including fastest ufs storage and an SD card slowing the whole phone
@@cashreedhar I want the SD storage as well. Using ufs as the reason is silly. On vacation or shooting lots of pictures and video, you use up storage quick. Being able to swap out a sdcard allows you to use your phone as you would a camera. Notice how cameras still use memory cards and not just built in storage? I can understand how 8k might exceed sd bandwidth (I dont actually know) but being able to slowly offload from ufs onto SD cards during downtime as backup and then free to clear the ufs storage is such a big deal to me. That, and the fact that Samsung limits to 512, or if you can find one, 1tb for an arm and a leg, but during trade in, it's worth the same as a 128 (now 256) is a slap in the face. Samsung used to have all the "power user" features. Last time I left my Bluetooth headphones at home and found my old wired ones, I couldnt use it with my note phone because they removed the headphone jack. Stupid that you have these features in a midrange and low end phone but not the flagship.
Hey man, I LOVED my S10+ but with its declining health and a $800 trade in bonus plus a memory upgrade for pre order I couldn thelp but go for the S22 Ultra at release. The phone is amazing to say the least and even after a year I still appreciate its functionality on a daily basis. While I will not be upgrading to the s23 ultra since there is clearly no need for a few years at this point, my input to other looking to upgrade from an s10 or older model should definitely do so. Although I will say ANY time you sign a contract you will end up paying an extra $10-20/mo from something they wont tell you about no matter how much you do your research.
same, i also used to have Note10+ and decided to switch to S22 ultra, and works brilliantly in photo processing, battery life, and overall usage. But i'm still expecting a lot more on the battery life on my S22 ultra with their 5000 mah & snapdragon chip. Let's see what this S23 ultra can bring on the full review
That's why i stopped with finances and instead opt for getting all my eggs in one basket and buy it outright with the reduced price. Just makes more sense

Loving my new S23 Ultra in every single way. I prayed for improved video quality over my Exynos S21 Ultra which was crippled by it's low bitrate and excess noise and mushy detail dropout, and my prayers were more than answered. Low light and indoor video is now stunning with massively reduced noise and massively increased detail all thanks in no small part to a much increased bitrate. Even at 4K60. Outdoor video now oozes detail and sharpness without oversaturating especially at (now gloriously usable) 8K, and the stabilization is incredible. Thanks for making my dreams come true for once Samsung. It shouldn't have taken so long for your video to be in the IPhone's league though.

i just compared my s21+ with s23+ and s23 ultra and find out that quality on s21+ is actually better when i took on my 64 mp comparing to 50mp on s23+ and even 200mp on 23ultra. I just zoomed max photos and it is really better. See no point to upgrade, except for the battery life - mine lives for maybe 8-10 hours on busy day, comparing to 12-13 hours when it was new even though dark mode is on.

I spent 6 hrs with both the s22 n s23 ultra yesterday, exact same phone, no like exactly the same phone, battery is trash on both of them, cameras the exact same quality maybe 5% difference but I had s22 photos come out better on a lot of shots. My one plus is notably brighter in a screen test. Plus the phones still ugly with its round edges. Colors look good for a funeral. Phone feels dead, easy pass.
Funny how I watch Arun's detailed videos about the latest flagships on a entry level phone from 2020, which is already on the verge of breakdown with numerous lags and sim tray malfunctions. But yeah, keep up the great work!
Thank you for your analysis. Any word about reparability? Did Samsung serialised battery, screen, port, etc? I'm a Pixel user, but I like to see what other good phones are doing. I'm impressed from the 4 years updates with monthly cadence, it is even better than Google. Plainly upset by the lack (from Samsung, but also from Google) of a power brick, a micro-SD slot, the audio jack and an user-replaceable battery. The inductive pen is a very poor substitute for the grandiosity of having a 1 TB micro-SD card in the phone, and listening audio without an headphone charging break. Thank you again!

Why nobody is complaining when Apple doesn't change his iPhone design?! Personally the s22 ultra and s23 ultra design is the way to go.. the magic formula ❤
samsung always did their flagship note ( now s series) right. its their rectangle design and their edge screen intact. thats the main reason why people kept coming back to it. upgrading other feature comes secondary and its a must to keep them in top notch shape.
I've preordered a S23 Ultra, I've always been a iPhone user, from the 4 all the way to the 13 Pro Max, but it's time for a change. The fact that this year's Galaxy has a Snapdragon in the UK, has stronger glass, much faster charging than the iPhone, updated android auto, 4 year minimum software support (has always been a bugbear on android, with slow or non existent updates after a year or two) and at your home repairs from a Samsung technician, I'm sold. After the recent bulls*** of sending my 13 Pro Max to apple for repair, which they then lost and made me wait 90 days before supplying a replacement was the last straw. Can't wait!
@FO0T Really positive. Some initial bugs in the first few days after launch, such as the camera app freezing or Facebook comments refusing to load, but all fixed by software updates in the first week. Remember folks, just like with the S20, just like with the S21 and just like with the S22 series last year, the camera quality we see at launch will NOT be the same camera quality 6-8 months down the line.
Never expect future updates, speculation isn't good evidence to make such a large financial decision
this is probably grounds for a good look at the cameras later down the line though

Things like ringtones and notification sounds are genuinely hindered by a lack of a proper set of speakers-especially when someone like myself outfits certain people and applications with certain ringtones/notification sounds
I personally believe a phone's speakers are pretty dang useful in everyday life. But I can also definitely see where you're coming from; I wouldn't make speakers a dealbreaker ever, but if I was stuck between two phones, I would definitely use speakers as a way to justify one, because at the end of the day, if you ever need to pop a quick song out, they can be useful in a pinch!

Buy s20 ultra
Micro-sd and a user replaceable battery would mean people keeping their phones twice as long. Dat's bad.
You can use mini USB C flash storage though
Hey man, I LOVED my S10+ but with its declining health and a $800 trade in bonus plus a memory upgrade for pre order I couldn thelp but go for the S22 Ultra at release. The phone is amazing to say the least and even after a year I still appreciate its functionality on a daily basis. While I will not be upgrading to the s23 ultra since there is clearly no need for a few years at this point, my input to other looking to upgrade from an s10 or older model should definitely do so. Although I will say ANY time you sign a contract you will end up paying an extra $10-20/mo from something they wont tell you about no matter how much you do your research.
same boat, i have a 10+ and am thinking about upgrading to the s23 ultra.
same, i also used to have Note10+ and decided to switch to S22 ultra, and works brilliantly in photo processing, battery life, and overall usage.
I have a Note 20 Ultra which I bought refurbished for $600, which was about half the price. Don't forget that option. It's the cheapest way to buy a phone. Plus, I got free Buds 2 with my purchase. Why pay more?
@@jimroscovius After the trade in bonus I paid a total of $380 for the phone including tax. Completely worth it imo. Also got the free 128 to 256gb upgrade for free for pre ordering. I had 2 refurbished consoles break on me years ago and vowed to never buy refurbished again anyway tbh, not knocking it but not for me.
It shouldn't have taken so long for your video to be in the IPhone's league though.
watching you first time, and subscribed you in within 2 mins. One of the best informative videos i have seen through channels. I loved detailling of your work, not just basic info that can be seen in every second video on youtube. just a small suggestion, if you can also add phone model tag on comparison photos or videos, it would be best. like i had to rewind many times for some comparison parts, which is i guess common problem, everybody will be facing.
I swear even if he doesn’t rickroll us in a video the mere expectation we have is a rickroll, the guy rickrolled us so much. Great job Arun!!
Lol you said rest in peace 13:24
Just watched this from my bandnew S23 Ultra! Your videos are awesome!
Every single video of this guy is so rich in details and not focused towards tech geniuses. I love this channel ❤️
6:35 The most eco friendly thing todo is just make parts avaliable so people can repair easily instead of throwing out perfectly good phones.
Upgrading to this from the UK S21 Ultra next week, I can't wait ✌️
Your simplified breakdown of the technology, makes even the simplest of folk understand all the tech. Much appreciated.
i just compared my s21+ with s23+ and s23 ultra and find out that quality on s21+ is actually better when i took on my 64 mp comparing to 50mp on s23+ and even 200mp on 23ultra. I just zoomed max photos and it is really better. See no point to upgrade, except for the battery life - mine lives for maybe 8-10 hours on busy day, comparing to 12-13 hours when it was new even though dark mode is on.
Exactly. Sticking with my s21 Ultra
The flatter screen alone is enough for me to want to change. I hate the fact I had to get a 22, hopefully when these hit stores I can feel how they are. If it fits my S22 stuff I'm sold
I love all your videos you actually explain everything thing so u know what u getting
Bro u were so enthusiastic about this phone. I preordered it and after watching it I’m ready to get my hands on it right now! U literally sold this phone! And thanks for explaining the pixels. Some may not understand how complex and important it is with camera quality upgrades, but u did a great job explaining it.
Wow. Great video. What I got from this is that the S23 Ultra could actually live up to the hype. Impressive first impressions.
Phone feels dead, easy pass.
it's pretty much the same thing buddy
Don't spare us the details! The way you explain details is so simple that everything you explain makes sense! ❤️
Yes pls
I want details that I can remember for more than a day tho.
Can't wait to hold mine on Monday. I love samsung
They mentioned it is very repairable in the unpacked event
It seems from your requirements that you are more suited for the samsung midrange M and A series..not flagships.
Well done Aron, 2.2m views in 21 hours and great first impressions in 13min 42 sec.Looking forward to a full review and comparison.I will upgrade mine definatly worth the move.

Samsung Note and Samsung S series were two different lines/flagships. Now they have kind of merged them together.
Can't wait!
How is it?
@FO0T Really positive. Some initial bugs in the first few days after launch, such as the camera app freezing or Facebook comments refusing to load, but all fixed by software updates in the first week. Since then, it's been great. Battery life was really surprising, it's been the best I've ever seen from Android. Very pleased.
This is an incredible video, explaining the details we want in a tech reviewer.
Your video sealed it for me. Im getting it.
I love the excitement you bring to your videos!! Looking forward to getting my hands on the S23 Ultra!
Talking about leaps, having upgraded from A72017 to S22 ultra was mindblowing!
Honestly love this guy always keeps us entertained and his videos are inspiring
He always makes nice videos 📹 ☺️
Your explanation of pixel binning made more sense than anything else I’ve read about it 🎉
Boss, you're videos are the best! You make my day 😄
Nobody beats you when it comes to phone videos 😎 this video made me buy the s23 ultra today 🙈
Floss is way better
Bruh
Congratulations
I am sooo tempted after watching this, i have a note10+ so I'm defo due an upgrade
Arun and MKBHD are the best tech reviewers out there!! Always great videos from those two fellas!!!
Nah MKBHD is extremely biased apple fanboi. You can hear in his voice always trying hard not to say anything about non apple products.
MKBHD is hard fanboy of apple. It takes an eternity for him to admit something that is better than apple.
@@narendranath1006 lol not really , you guys said the same thing when Arun smoked S22U during IPhone 14 Pro vs S22U camera comparison.
@@cheesybacon2300 that's not true. Ip 14 is infact better than s22.
They are just daily tech vlogger you 3rd world troll. They're far from true tech TH-camrs like ltt, gn, hwu, jt, and some other.
The wife and I just upgraded our s21's to the s23ultra 512gb - and quite impressed already. I really like the camera upgrades. Battery life is much improved.
How do you guys find the size/weight?
@@7ish4m Size is pretty much identical to our S21's. Weight seems a bit heavier...but gives the phone a good solid feel.
Where did you take your S21? Kindly gift me. I will really appreciate
@@maryarya5678 Sure thing. Keep checking your mailbox daily. Should be there right quick.
Love the effort that Arun puts in his videos; coming from the smartphone projection a few years ago to the constant silent rickrolls that slide so effectively into the videos good work man coming from the bottom of my heart ❤️ Well done to you and your brilliant team
