This was very helpful. Locksmith tried to charge upwards of 200.00 for cutting the keys alone. Not including programming. Told me the switchblade keys would not work. Here I am with 5.00 dollars worth of cut keys and them all programmed to the lock, unlock, panic and they all start the truck too! I had both original keys however Just to summarize. Because I hit a couple snags 1. Cut the keys 2. Program the fobs using the 8 cycle method. 3. Use the 10 cycle method to get the key to start the ignition. Remote start is installed but I still need to activate it with the Forscan tool. I do not know if it will work since it wasn't active when I did the keys. I may also try to reprogram them after it's enabled if it doesn't work. Thanks again I hate people that take advantage of others for a simple procedure. Saved me some $$$
Although the upgraded key is compatible it cannot be programmed without having 2 OEM Keys as explained in this video. I was able to get it cut at Lowes free of charge ( they are not even supposed to cut outside keys). I got in contact with a few locksmith's in my town and the 1st few wanted to charge me upwards of $180 just to program it. I kept looking and found a guy that gave me a deal he charged me $70. 2004 Expedition. Either way I appreciate the video and thank you for making me aware of this upgrade, now I don't have to worry about the transponder breaking at the top.
Mine is 2011 ford f150. Style of key is correct but the fob is part of the key. I have the original and spare and recently purchased a remote start that came with 2 more keys and those were 4 buttons. Now I have purchased the Amazon switch blade keys to do the same thing you have done. The non switch blade keys are programmed and start the truck. The switch blade keys will unlock the doors and panic etc. But won't start the truck. Did I exceed the number of keys I can have? Do I need to install the remote start first and then do the programming on the keys that came with it and then clone those to the switch blade. Little confused. Thanks Update - sorted this out using the 8 cycle and 10 cycle methods keys now work.
I have a 2001 ford explorer sports trac and I would like to know where can I find the new key fob that you got off eBay for the new key fob that folds up and has the built in fob on its case and will it start up my truck without being inside my truck after it is programmed into the new folded front with built in key fob so I don’t have to keep all those fobs on my key chain…
Yes, I removed the blade from the fob for the hardware store to cut, as the young kids there didn't know how to remove it. Just a few screws and it pops out
Thanks for the video man. Answered all my questions. Can’t believe it’s only $4 to cut. In my experience with other vehicles of mine they told me they couldn’t cut a key like that.
The actual thickness of the Amazon key itself is thicker than the original key. Does the key shop grind down the blank (new) key so it will fit in the ignition?
Hello Sir from Vietnam. I would like to ask you, I've just owned Ford Mondeo 2010 - Gas version for Vietnam Market, now my car changed the lock to start/stop button and also use remote control. when I press the open button on the remote I heard the connection between car & remote but cannot open the car doors. Please help to show me the way to check & fix them. Thank so much! 🤝

If you don't care about the button working for keyless entry than no, you do not need to program the fob, but because od the fords anti theft system, there is transponder chip that needs to be programed or the computer will put it in anti theft and jot start MOST places that cut car keys can clone or copy the existing keybthat they cut from and put it on the new key for dirt cheap
I've never heard of a "master key" for Fords. Depending on the year, you need one or two working keys to 'self program' an additional key. I've never had a master key for any of mine and have programed spares several times.
Wont work on the early 2000s rangers, explorers, and sport tracks as they have that coller like thing that the head of the key goes into, same as the 9th gen f150.
My truck came with an "OEM" remote start that would start onlock 3 times, would also start the truck if you used the keypad on the door to lock it 3 times, but the fobs distance was maybe 5 feet away at best that it would work, so I wired in an aftearket unit. After I programmed the new key I plugged the old unit back in to test it and works from about 50 feet away now, That said, the aftermarket does make remote start kits that utilize the factory key fobs to start the engine, the best one I've installed on customer vehicles is from compustar, it's the DC3 model and the wiring T harness the plug and plays right into the factory ignition harness, and instant 3X lock on oem fob to start.
You must have 2 original keys that start your engine to perform this procedure. If you only have one working key or none at all it must be programmed by a dealer or locksmith! Your New third (unprogrammed) key must also be cut prior to performing this procedure. Please Note: If one of your keys is a cloned key from a hardware store this procedure will NOT work. This procedure requires original programmed keys. 1. Insert an existing (working) key into the ignition cylinder. 2. Turn the ignition cylinder ON (just shy of starting the car Without cranking the engine) and back to OFF. Ignition should stay in ON position for at least one second. 3. Remove the existing key and WITHIN TEN SECONDS, insert a second working key and turn to ON and then back to OFF. Ignition must be on for at least one second but no more than ten seconds. Remove key. 4. Insert the New (unprogrammed) key before twenty seconds have elapsed and turn to ON. Leave it in the ON position for at least one second and turn back to OFF. 5. The security light will light up for THREE seconds to indicate the new key has been successfully programmed. For those who do not have 2 original keys: These keys can NOT be programmed at hardware stores like Ace, Lowes, Walmart, & Home Depot. They must be programmed by an automotive locksmith or dealership.

Im trying to find one that works with a 1996 Mercury Mystique.
Did the company that cut your key remove the key from the housing? Some Amazon reviews said u have to possibly remove the key so the shop can cut it.

Shitty locksmith tried to charge .e 200.00 to cut 3 keys. Home depot did it for like 4 bucks
How do I do it it on push to start I wanna program the new fob to upgrade my 2015 key fob to 2017 ones
Think this would work on an 02 F350? I have the same fob but I don't think my keys have transponders.
The actual thickness of the Amazon key itself is thicker than the original key. Does the key shop grind down the blank (new) key so it will fit in the ignition?
The key shop I took it too only cut the tumbler grooves, and it fit in perfectly and has been working perfect since day one.

Do I really need to program it though? I just want it because I hate the key that came with my 06 f150. I like the feel of these keys.

Yes that’s the same on he has
My sub makes the same noise lol
What if I only have 1 key
Nice, but myself, I clean the crap out of my vehicle before shooting videos, just saying
Doesnt work.
What part didn't work? The fob programming? Or the key chip programming?
The key part. The keyless work. I got 2004 ford f150 xlt 2 door rear wheel.
