Hey bro you know anything about the Ford Focus my key and getting locked out basically do you think I can get a spare key fob and program it with my one keyfob I got
I accidentally locked my keys in my F-150 Ford. I had my brother rig open the door in order for me to get to my keys. When I finally got my keys I went to turn on my truck and the theft light came on. Ever since then I've been breaking my head trying to figure out how to deactivate the theft system. Do you have any advice on how to turn my vehicle on? Thank you!
@Hindsight 101 So I have one Ford factory key with programmed FOB and another key with no FOB but cut at a local hardware store .. would these work to program a 3rd key ?
Dude That was a perfect video, short & to the point. I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!! You saved me $200.00 from the dealer wanting to program my truck but also keeping it for 2 hours. If your ever on the west coast hit me up & i'll by you lunch!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!
FWIW My 2016 Ford Focus doesn't chime. Not sure why, but I just watched the lights on the dash and waiting until the BRAKE light on the speedometer turns off is the equivalent of the "chime". So just wait for that on each key turn and it'll work like a charm.
I am so very thankful for your video. The ignition programming went without a flaw. The "fob" part took me several tries before I got the telltale door locks locking indicating I was in the program mode, so do not give up! Thank you again! If you were local I would buy you lunch!
Derrick you're brilliant as providing clear, succinct explanation without any unnecessary repetition, a very useful talent, difficult believe that you only have 2..2K subscribers - + one more now - me!
Thx, just so you guys know, leave the key turned forward after the 8th turn then press a button on the remote before you remove the key. Appreciate the video 👍
Thank you for this awesome video. I was trouble shooting a 2006 explorer. No dash lights no crank issue. No Bling when the key was in the ignition. This fixed my problem. God Bless you, you’re an angel for helping people. My mother in law thanks you as well, her car. Repair 0$.
These simple, clear to understand instructions worked perfectly. My spare Ford Explorer 2013 key is now fully programmed. I saved hundreds of dollars by buying a key from Amazon then getting it cut for free at Ace hardware and following these simple steps. Thank you Derek you're a lifesaver!
Thank you so much it worked with my 2012 ford focus. My key fob went dead and had me frustrated of why it wasn't working. I cannot believe that this video saved me a trip from going to the locksmith!
Alright! I really am impressed. Easy as 1,2,3. Thank you. I did take the fob apart and was worried that the servos were bad, and I felt that I may need to replace the fob. But it worked. Now I am going to get a second key and fob. The car came with only one. I will use this video to program the key and new fob. Thank you. The car is a 2005 Mercury Marquis.
You are an honest and intelligent person. I tried several other videos none worked. Yours did absolutely magnificent. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and most of all being honest, and saving me $180 dollars x2 I highly recommend video!!! Thanks again!
Thanks so much for the instructions; it ABSOLUTELY works my keys and key fobs are programmed. 2 keys from Amazon for $30 bucks - Home Depot cut for $3 bucks each and the dealership was asking for $250 for one key.
Derrick, thank you!! I found other instructions that did not work. They said "didn't work do it again" Your instruction worked first time. Easy as can be. Thank You!!!!
I watched a dozen other videos showing how to program with some dealer software. Your video was by far the best to understand, and simplest to perform. Hope it gets more views and sent to the top to help others!
Thank you!!! I appreciate the video!!! I tried it once and it didn’t work. I tried again and waited for the chime to stop ringing then inserted the second key and waited. Then I put the new key and it worked!! Thanks
Thank u so much. Worked like a charm. Dealership quoted me $450 for one new key. Bought two keys from Amazon for $40....had a locksmith cut them for $20......$60 total for two new keys fully programmed. Wow!
Ordered 2 keys from Amazon for about $50, got them cut for 40, and used this to replace the 2 that snapped off at the hinge! This video should have GOAT status!
Thanks to Derrick, I was able to save a lot of money for my daughter’s boyfriend! Programmed 2 extra keys for a 2014 Ford Mustang. Awesome instructional video!
Worked perfectly, thanks. Saved me $40 programming fee. Others may have noted this in their comments, but just to re-iterate… DON’T touch the brake pedal after you get in.
Touching the break broke one of my relays and my engine fan wouldn't turn of. Ran my battery low and had to boost it. The relay was only $15 for 2, but I would like to reiterate, don't touch the break in the process.
Thank you so much!...and for anyone wondering like I was, you don't need two master keys. I used a valet and a master (in that order) and the new key was programmed and worked like a master key!
Just did my 2011 F250. Worked like a charm. The new remote doesn't have the remote start function but that key wont need it. The remote door lock and unlock work just fine with your method too. Thanks
All other methods failed. This video and your method worked great on a 2013 F150 STX! Thanks! It worked on the first attempt..Programmed to start and all the buttons worked without a second procedure.
Hi guy... You saved my day. I got a variant for a Mondeo 2001 GHIA, To reprogramming fob after ampty battery. I turn from ‘3’ (contact position) to ‘0’ 4 times quickly, and then I listened the chime, then I pressed the ‘close the door button’, and voilà, my fob resurtected (yes 4 times not eight)
You need 2 keys to program a third key. So if I lose one of my keys I can always make another spare. If I have two keys and lose one I would have to pay someone to make a new key for me
Well, YES. That is good thinking Hindsight 101, and certainly lives up to your You Tube user name. I was just meaning that the majority of people needing a new key, have already LOST their spare, or BOTH keys already. I think very few people are as precautious as you are. I do see your point though, and agree with it!
Life: Hindsight 101 I just learned this the hard way also to have my original key found three days after I had a locksmith cut and reprogram two keys for me, now I’ll be reprogramming my third key.
When I used to have a 2005 Ford Focus. I had 2 key fobs at that time. Only one of them worked for the car. I never had that problem when I had 2011 Mercury Milan, 2015 Ford Escape, or even my current 2020 Ford Escape SE. My last one that I have on 2 different key chains. One with a pink theme and the other one with a blue theme. The pink one is my main one.
Sweet. Saw a different video that only showed how to program the buttons. Didn’t say anything about that not working to start the car. I was pissed until I found your video. Thanks for reducing my stress and saving a trip to the deal.
Here's the scoop. I have a 2013 F-150. The unlock button on my key fob went south. Ford dealership wanted $167. for a new key fob and another $40 to program it. The nice man in the parts department mentioned I might be able to get a new key fob on line for less. Sure enough I found one for $19.xx on Amazon. I watched a couple of different TH-cam videos to see how to program the new key. One, which seemed very straight forward and dealt with the 2013 F-150 didn't work for me. I tried the procedure at least seven times... no soap. I was about to take the key & fob to Ford and have them program it, but having watched your approach, I thought I'd give it a try. Worked first time! I watched your video several times (I'm a little slow.) to be sure I had the sequence, as simple as it is, down pat. very good tutorial, I spend hour follow instructions with new keys then car manual with no luck, then try it yours and all 4 keys programmed right away!
So , I just bought a key from ford. It was $135 just for the key and then they wanted an additional 300 to program. It’s just the key with a chip. I said I’ll come back. Thanks to your video I was able to program my key by myself in less than a minute. I’m so pissed that they were actually going to charge me that much for what I just did with no tools. Thanks again.
This worked great. Thank you. I followed another video first that showed me how to program the chip with only one key and my aftermarket remote start. I still needed to program the keyless entry buttons. This video did the trick. Between your video and the other I saved over 200$ thank you.
This worked beautifully I upgraded my ford 07 freestyle key with the 2017 raptor style flip key and using these methods I saved close to 400 that included key cut and key and programming thank you sir god bless 👍🏾
Now that was a great video my ford mustang convertible 2012 the remote wont work .After replacing battery still don,t work so yeah a little bit sad. When i saw your video and after i did the work as you let me see ...He worked perfect you make a man in Holland very very happy so tanks a lot and if you ever come in holland ill give you a grat heineken beer and a great lunch Thank you very MUCH !!!! 😁😁😁
Programming of a new key fob for our 2012 Ford Escape went very well. Just make sure you turn the ignition on and off in quick succession as shown in the video.
My 2019 Escape 3 button key as shown programmed the key and the fob using the first method shown in this video. I didn't need to do the second "eight" turn method.
All you have to do is put keys in until they prove out (lights go out). Takes about 3 secs or so per key. It programs third key to start and keyfob at same time.
I have a 2013 F250. My original one broke up so I bought two replacement fobs. I was able to program them to start the truck so they all work to start it, but the buttons don't work after trying the 8x on off method. Any suggestions? Is it a different process for my yrear and model?
Clarification--as the narrator stated, you need 3 KEYS--2 existing Ford Keys plus your newly cut key to program the key chip (FOB is separate). If you only have one key plus your newly cut key, you will need to go to a locksmith or a Ford dealer to program the chip on that newly cut key through the OBD reader port using their specific tools. Most locksmiths near me charge about $150 to cut a key blank and program. I purchased the key blank on line.
that sucks for me, I just got an Escape 2014 with just one regular key, I wanna have a Fob remote key to be able to unlock it.. I need a locksmit to program a new one then?
My last Ford Escape had 2 of those keys. It was a SE trim level and it was a 2015. Even my car before that Escape which was a 2011 Mercury Milan. Now that I drive a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black for a little bit over 7 months soon it will be 8 months on the 14th of this month.
I'm a couple years late to the party, but this is a great tool. Do I NEED two previously programmed keys, or can I just use the one I have twice for the first step(s) and set up my other key(s)? Dealership wants $350 for a single key + programming.
Dealership wanted $300 per remote key. I bought a set of two 5 button remote keys from Amazon for $25. Home Depot cut them for free because they're not supposed to do it. But they do it cause a lot of people mentioned Lowe's and Home Depot cut there keys for free. Anyway I followed these steps and whala. 2 new remote starter keys for $25. Thanks my friend. But you do need 2 working keys. I had 2 working keys but they wouldn't start the remote starter and half way worked locks.
i replaced the smart junction box in my 06 fusion S, it was used. i have both keys,it went through the cycles, and the horn beeped, but not locking the doors. i had a turn signal problem, dealer was $600.00 for a new SJB. got ut off ebay for 120.00
That is so damn helpfull!! Dealership wanted me to replace the key that didnt work for 300 didnt know i had to reprogram it but thanks my dude you saved me so much money!!

Man thanks you’re awesome programmed 2 keys for my 2012 F250 and got my keys from eBay too
No problem glad I could help
Thank you
that sucks for me, I just got an Escape 2014 with just one regular key, I wanna have a Fob remote key to be able to unlock it.. I need a locksmit to program a new one then?
Thanks for the video. Worked perfectly for a 2010 Mustang.
Awesome thanks for watching
Joker Relentless did your mustang throw off the anti theft mode? I’m thinking that’s my problem and reprogramming the keys should fix it.
My last Ford Escape had 2 of those keys. It was a SE trim level and it was a 2015. Even my car before that Escape which was a 2011 Mercury Milan. Now that I drive a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black for a little bit over 7 months soon it will be 8 months on the 14th of this month.
straight and to the point!!
Thanks

I'm a couple years late to the party, but this is a great tool. Do I NEED two previously programmed keys, or can I just use the one I have twice for the first step(s) and set up my other key(s)?
Dealership wants $350 for a single key + programming.

Wow!!! Thank you so much, after 5 minutes I saved $378… I spent $31 for 2 fobs and $2.18 at a Ace Hardware (cut keys) Yo da man
Awesome thanks for sharing
You best in this
Do you know if the 2020 transit come with remote start ?
Dealership wanted $300 per remote key. I bought a set of two 5 button remote keys from Amazon for $25. Home Depot cut them for free because they're not supposed to do it. But they do it cause a lot of people mentioned Lowe's and Home Depot cut there keys for free. Anyway I followed these steps and whala. 2 new remote starter keys for $25. Thanks my friend. But you do need 2 working keys. I had 2 working keys but they wouldn't start the remote starter and half way worked locks.
Awesome to hear
Thanks Derrick!! Worked just like you said!
Awesome
