It longest the key fob it's programmable to 315 megahertz you shouldn't be having problems to program the key fobs even the switch blade type key fobs.

This was very helpful! I bought my two keys on Amazon (on which work great so far) for under 30$. The dealership wanted to charge me $300 just for one key! Along with programming. I did it all myself thanks to your video.

I suggest that in a future video, you emphasize, progammig multiple FOBS with key programming first before programming the remote buttons. Great video, many thanks, guidance was excellent!! My experience was 100%!

Wait, he didn't say to do ignition before remote buttons. I have 2 new keys and I did the remote buttons first and they worked fine but now the ignitioins on the new keys aren't programming. Could it be because the order of programming was switched. If so, any way to wipe the new keys and start over?

Thank you so much ,lost my spare key on my Mercury Grand Marquis which has a remote starter that acted like a spare key like you said in your video,which let me program another key on my first try because i had another key.I thought i was done until you let us know a remote starter acts like a key

The remote start was the trick, worked great thanks for the two key function. E-bay special 12.99 Tax got the car started with the new one but it shows invalid key code on the display lol!

Great content. I just have one problem with my Focus Mk2: I have 3 keys, two of which have immo while the 3rd doesn't. After following your tutorial, I get immo on the 3rd key working, but it's only temporary. If I use the central locking with any of my 3 keys, the immo functionality of my 3rd key is reset. Any tips? I'd really like to avoid dealership since they're charging way more than necessary. Thanks and cheers

Thanks for the 2 videos I watched them both. Very informative. Question though: Are you sure about needing 2 programmed keys in order 2 program additional keys/fobs? I've been needing to do this to get a 2nd key. And I've seen videos with others doing the same thing as you, but with only one key. Just need to make sure before I spend money at the dealer or ruin my one and only current key.

Just seems strange that you have to have 2 working keys. I need a new key because I only have one key. If I had 2 working keys, I wouldn’t need a new one! I guess it’s to prevent dishonest valet parkers, etc. from making duplicates.

Is is still possible to do this method if I buy and cut two new keys from ebay? Seeing if I can avoid that $300 dealership + towing cost.lol
Nope you have to go to the dealership or another company.
This was helpful. I have 2 keys for my 2011 Fusion, one with fob that the battery died and one normal key that still works to start the ignition... but I received both from a locksmith last year who programmed them for me, so not the originals... hmm 🤔 still perplexed.
You need two working keys to program a third key since you only have one working key this will not work you’ll have to go back to that locksmith or the dealership

The keys I got from amazon are not cut and no one wants to cut them! Any help?

Hello Derrick! I've watched your video with key programming for ford and I try it my self. Like in your video, I followed your steps and i managed to program the third key. I start the car with the third key, it starts, but ONLY for the first time, then when I turn off the car, and tried to start it again with the third key, it doesn't start, like the key is not programmed, can you give me any advice with this problem? I have a ford focus 2007

Tried this with a 2017 expedition XLT. Hitting the brake doesn’t cancel the remote start.
Seems like these Car locksmiths know their craft.I was about to order an OBD2 key programmer but I took the third key to locksmith here in Chicago.Cost me $75.The OBD2 device would have cost me about the same but the locksmith did it with his OBD2 device.He didn’t explain to me why your method did not work.

While programming two new key fobs, something went wrong probably I pressed other keys than the lock key.
Anyway, now the original key works fine. but the problem is :
the light that indicates pairing mode is flashing every 2.5 seconds, if the original key is entered it stops flashing and can be turned on. BUT if the misprogrammed key is entered its flashing pace increases to ~ 3 times every second. The newly misprogrammed keys can lock/unlock doors but they will not open the trunk or turn the car on.
I try the following but neither worked
1- Discount the battery overnight
2- switching the original key on/off and Entering programming mode and let the car exit pairing mode by itself.
Please help, is there a way that let me exit the programming mode and/or reprogram the new misprogrammed keys?

Unless you have remote start that is an option. Check the notes section for more info on that. But if not you will need to go and get a key made. There maybe cheaper places in your area besides the dealership but that I can't help with.
Have a question about your programming a key fob key. Recently purchased a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT I just ordered it two different type keys with key fob attached.. do I have to program the key first before the key fob part or can it all be done at one time

By hitting the brake, does the truck still start? I hit the break, but the truck still starts. Will the truck be running when you put in the good key? We tried different scenarios, no luck. If the key does program, will it make the locks move as it programming?

If you want to program the remote control then you can do it with one key. Follow the second part of the video and turn the key 8 times then press a button on the remote. Also, make sure the remote has a working battery. If you want to program a key you will need to keys that work for you Focus to program a third key. It is 735 August 26. I followed instructions to re-sync, my key fob and it locks and unlocks, but the horn part doesn’t beep when you lock the truck

i attempted to program my 2012 ford 150 lariat. I only have one key but it does have an engine start button. I attempted to push the brake before it started but was unsuccessful in stopping the engine from starting. It appears that the engine starting is a deal breaker. I even pushed the brake before pushing the engine start buttons but to no avail. How do I push the start button on the key fob without it starting.

Now I’m trying to program a 4th key (It’s just a regular key without the key fob attached) and for wherever reason I can’t get it programmed, any tips that will help me to program this key??

@@Hindsight101 it's just a blank "ford key" I got from the locksmith that cut the replacement key I bought from Amazon. Do the key needs to have a key fob to be able to be programmed?

If I have the lock Smith to cut me a new key that's compatible, will it work even thoe the key I had cut has not been programmed. That's my question when you say two working keys? Have you ran into the "Starting System Fault"? I was able to cut the key, it turns and lights up my dashboard but it will not start the truck. I've also tried the turning the key 8 times method ad well. When I insert the 3rd "new" key, it functions the same programming as locks and unlocks, but the buttons do not work and does not start the truck. I have a 2014Raptor with the IKT SA stamped on the back of they key.

@@Hindsight101 Thanks for fast reply. I got the keys from Amazon like 2 years ago. I deactivated the MYKey(thats why i Needed a new key) with ForScan, but finally got around to program this new key. I'm going to try and use ForScan to program the new key.
@@Hindsight101 I was able to get the ignition to start with the ForScan software. Now, I can't get the buttons to work. I tried the cycling 8times and the doors never locked or unlocked. I'll keep trying.

Thanks for both of your videos. I wanted to ask another question...Are you familiar with the Simple Key key programmer? It allows you to program a second (actually up to 4) key even if you only have one original ford key. Do you know if the simple key actually creates another administrative key (ie allows you to make more keys using the ford factory programming mode)?
I have not personally used the simple key. Someone suggested it to me in the comments
@@Hindsight101 I'll answer my own question...I will answer my own question...Once you make the 2nd key using the simple key programmer, you can follow the standard Ford programming method (insert first programmed key, insert second programmed key, insert unprogrammed key) to program additional keys without the use of the smart programmer. So the Smart Key Programmer does make a key that the security system recognizes as an "administrative key". Also, for the extra keys, I was able to purchase a generic key from E-bay and program it as a 3rd key...there wasn't a need to buy another specific smart key blank. I hope this helps others!
Derrick when i look at some key fobs on amazon it says 2 original keys required . I have 1 original that the open button stopped working. I have a 2nd key made with no fob because of price it does start my truck. So by your video this should work. Is this correct? Thanks

Hi! I have two original keys that both used to work and both stopped being able to start the car. I’ve tried changing the batteries on both keys. I get a “system start fault” error when I try to start with either key. But the buttons work fine on both keys. Does this sound like the keys both need to be reprogrammed to you? What do you think? Trying to figure out if a third key is the answer or if I need to go to the dealership. I so appreciate both videos by the way!
I would have the dealership look at them just in case programming them doesn't work then you don't have any keys that work.

I have a ford F150 with remote start. but only one key. so the remote start on my key fob will suffice as a 2nd key? how can I test this and do I need a part # for the key fob? how do I go about getting the key cut in order to program it? the local locksmith wants over $100 just to cut the key. then another $40 to program it. the local ford dealer in the svd dept said he would cut a key for me at a cost of $10 if I provided him with a blank. in what order do I do all this. ? Im assuming i have to get it cut first and then can you confirm if I order the correct blank and he cuts it - that should work for the proramming part? I've read stories that if you do it wrong - it may cause your original to stop working?
You can’t really test it you just have to try and see if it works. I would go with the cheapest place that will cut the key but if the cheap place messes up you have to get a new key. You will need to cut the key first

You only need one key to program the fob, you need 2 keys to program another key

Bought a 2014 Explorer xlt with nonworking aftermarket remote starter. The two keys do not have a remote start symbol. Even so, do those two keys contain the internal button required for a Ford oem remote starter, or would I need new keys with the identified remote starter symbol? I don't want extra off brand fobs on the keys if possible, and would like Ford equipment if possible.
You'll need a new key with a remote starter or aftermarket fob remote starter

You need 2 working keys that will start the vehicle to program another key. If its just the fob (buttons) you want to program then you can use one key
Can the key be programmed as a valet key only? Valet will start the vehicle and unlock the door, but will not unlock glove box or, with an F-150, unlock access to the spare tire.
I don't think so. At least not for my car. Maybe for other cars

My key is working great, but not the buttons, I change the battery and it start working again but after 4 days it stop working.

Technically you can get a separate fob. I think your key might be defective
Question for you....If I have lost a key, or it got stolen, and only have one key left...can i reprogram just that one I have and will that wipe the lost/stolen key from the car and not make it work any longer? I know it will still unlock the car with the key itself, but will it make the buttons no longer work and make that key unable to start the car? For reference, I have a 2011 Ford Escape
You need two working keys to program a third key. If you reprogram a keys fob (the buttons) then it will erase all the other fobs if not reprogram at the same time

Hi Derrick, like your vids, just stumbled onto your channel searching for solutions to my problem, I did subscribe.
I just had to replace the battery in my 2011 Ford Explorer and after that the car won’t start saying “starting system fault”. There was no starting issues prior to having the battery replaced!🤷🏻♂️
However, I thought the key fob may have lost connections with the car so I gave your instructions a go and got the lock/unlock doors activation to function but the car still will not start!🤷🏻♂️ I only have one key so was not trying to program another key, just trying to get the one I have to work thinking it’s the problem! Any help is appreciated.
The dealer don’t have a mobile service and said I’ll have to get the car to them, that’s a tow truck cost plus the chunk the dealer garage will charge!😤Thanks anyone!🙏🏼
Hey thanks for the subscribe. I think your issue is your are going to have to find a way to get it to the dealer or someone to come out to you because I think the key is no longer programmed to your car. I don't know of a way to do it without having a working key

I got a third party business to come to me and program a new chip key and separate fob, took about 15mins and about 325 smackaroos and a tip to get the job done, the car came right back to Life!👍🏼 lt’s cheaper than what the dealer cost would’ve been!

What if I have 2 keys but 1 is just a clone of the original key from when I first bought the car? Like I went to Home Depot or somewhere like that and they just made a copy of the original key.
If your clone key starts the car then you should have no problem. The only issue you might run into is programming key fobs, but I'm not sure

For those you already have 2 working keys and need a 3rd seems easy breezy. In my case I need all new keys programmed since I had to change my ECM.

I have the spare key woth no fob for my 2002 ranger. I know because my vehicle limits out at 90mph. Will this method still work to program a new cut key fob?

Great question, I had to look this one up. So it seems that you can use someone else's used key as long as its the right key model for your vehicle. But it may not always work. So your mileage may vary.

So I have a problem with my 2013 Ford Exploerer, where I have both keys. They are both Admin keys, just one doesn't start but unlocks and locks perfect. The other works fine. What would I do to reprogram the key that doesn't start the car?
You will not be able to do anything. You need two working keys to program a third. Right now you only have one working key
Well I was wondering one of my keys just stopped working. It probably got deprogrammed or something. It locks/unlock and panic work fine. It just doesn't turn on the ignition. But it beeps and gives all the warnings. What do you think I could do about that? Go to the dealership? Thank you so much for the quick response

I followed the process that you mentioned. The key is programmed but fob buttons(lock/unlock) are not working. After turning the ignition on and off 8 times, the lock sound suggested that programming mode is on but new key fob buttons didn't work. Can you please guide what could go wrong or if there is a separate process for explorer 2015

But I have 2 keys and one stopped working after replacing the Battery. It still starts the car when holding it close to the console. This is for a push button start 2012 Focus Ti.
I'm not familiar with the push button. You can try it but you may have to get them programmed by professional

You need two keys. It sounds like you only have one
I can start car using 1. Remote start using Ford pass app 2. Using remote start from fob 3. Using push button of car with key fob in the car

So you saying the 2nd key can just be a regular blank locksmith key that has no chip and no buttons?
It has to have a chip. You can use an uncut key if its connected to an aftermarket remote start system

Bought a new uncut key for a Ford 2013 Edge. Had it cut. Programmed the FOB using the 2-factory key method. Lock, Unlock, and Alarm buttons work. Key will open doors and turn ignition on. Key WILL NOT start the vehicle.
Where did you get the key from?
@@Hindsight101 I bought it from remotesremotes.com through Amazon. I checked the VIN with Ford and then talked to customer service about it. They could not get the key to work. The dealership wants $280 for a replacement. sigh. I gave up.

There’s a kit that sells for 80 bucks and you could program 4 keys if you want

I bought used 2011 Ford Escape XLT 4WD but it doesn't come with the key fob. I'm little bit concerned and don't know if all models support key fob or not. Ford dealership just said if it doesn't come with key fob then it doesn't support this functionality

Hi I got my keys cut at hardware store, I was able to program the key fob
I followed the same steps to program the new key but I’m getting the same error message every time “Key can’t program “

Ok I have two keys. But...One of the keys the blade fell off somewhere. I am screwed? My luck I am. Why in the hell does it always have to have bullshit like this.... $$$$$.. locksmith said 50 bucks. Ever since they started putting chips in keys because of security feature it's made it a lot harder to do things yourself if you did lose the piece with the chip in it then yes you'll have to go to the dealership or locksmith $50 is actually a good price because other places will charg close to $300
It'll work but you have to have the right chip. If he has the wrong ship it won't work

As long as you have 2 keys that will start the car you can program a third key

@@Hindsight101 it's actually the key....when you said do it 8 times then we will hear it lock the thing is it never locks....that's the key that came with the vehicle....

Are you trying to program the key or the key fob? Also is this an original key or a new key?

It’s just trial and error to see what will work. Just make sure there is a good return policy

I have an older ford fusion that uses the key that has the remote built into the base (the far left one you show at 2:09). Can I buy a newer switchblade style key/fob like below, and use this method to program it to my older car?

Those are laser cut keys in believe they have to be done at a dealership or the like
"Two keys" means NOT one key and a CLONED key. They have to be two separately programmed keys otherwise your car just sees ONE key.

Most people have no more than and need no more than two keys. Having a third key is completely impractical.
It looks like I'm probably going to have to March down to Ford and pay them their lousy $100 to program one lousy key
That's an issue that has to be changed by Ford. It's a security feature they put into place
