Amazing man
Creative af. Cool af
Don’t forget the synchronized dancing/gesturing. Incredible experience.
100% agree. The visuals AND audio combined created one of the most memorable movie scenes ever created. I really love when Feyd was very amused and laughing insanely as a knife was being shoved in his face. I can watch the Giedi Prime arena scene a million times and never tire of it. I recall there were some deep, ominous male chants in the scene which I don't hear in this soundtrack for some reason that was in the movie. The male chants in this soundtrack weren't the "ominous" type of choral chanting I recall in the movie. I can't wait until this movie comes out in 4k Blu-ray!
Sitting in IMAX as this track vibrates your entire chest is an EXPERIENCE
and my seat. It felt like an earthquake.
my apologies to the poor IMAX employee tasked to clean my seat.
@@Malkav????😭
facts, I was mesmerized by the scene
That's so true
I couldn't blink my eyes during the Harkonnen scenes, i was smiling like a child in a playground.

1000%
They are so deliciously evil.
You too, huh?
I wouldn't have mind if the Feyd and Rabban scene is few minutes longer.
The true goat of this sequence, the Harkonnen announcer
The gutteral sounds of the harkonnen language are so alien. Gave a similar but different vibe from the Sardaukar language. The sardaukar felt vicious and deadly, the harkonnens felt cruel and pompous, yet alien.
@@Despotic_Waffle the Harkonnen anniuncer honestly sounded similar to ancient Egyptian languages they used in The Mummy movie, specifically when Imotep was yelling.
The moment he announces Baron Harkonnen's entrance to the spectacle of his nephew's birthday gift reminded me so much of Jabba the Hutt's entrance to commence the podrace in Phantom Menace lol

The announcer voice could be part of the music, it was so epic
Even I was hyped with the crowd because of the announcer lol
Plus the crowd Cheering "Feyd Rautha!!!"
unintelligible satanic dialogue and followed by ....na-Baron FEYD-RAUTHA!!
Their language fits so well with the music. What a scene.
I want to see this movie again just to watch this scene alone. Definitely the highlight of the movie for me! What an atmosphere they all invented!
This scene in the movie was absolutely fantastic and chilling.
My favorite scene to be honest
It was fantastic, creepy, scary, fascinating, amazing all at the same time. I have to re-watch the Geidi Prime scenes like 100 times more I think.
FEYD-RAUTHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Indeed. The atmosphere it created was so tense, it felt like you could grab it and bite it with your teeth.
I went 2nd time in movies next day to watch this scene again :D
“Cousin? Is that right? Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve killed a relative.”
“May thy knife chip and shatter.”
“May THY knife, chip and shatter.”

*Shaddam IV watches in panic*
"You fought well, Atreides"
Normally a villain who fixes his fights is seen as pathetic, but Feyd subverts that trope by relishing his duel with the healthy Atreides prisoner. He’s cruel, but he’s no coward.
he wasn't healthy, he was weakened before, but not drugged (implied). Also notice the bigger and stronger Atreides are drugged. He won because he was physically stronger than the final Atreides and could overpower him. If one of the big ones weren't drugged, had two blades, Feyd would have died. The fight wasn't fair, and it wasn't fair in the book either. The baron took a small risk, not a huge one.
@@dancristian8948and to add to that one of his blades had poison on it in the book aswell
@@dancristian8948 Although it wasn't mentioned directly, the one that wasn't drug is the Lieutenant, very gifted too. His name is Lanville and he isn't just a background character but the actor playing him, Roger Yuan, is the fight coordinator for both films. We haven't seen him much, but he did get to say smaller quotes in part 1. The one that was drug was most likely a grunt. he almost won too, if you paid attention to how his blade reached his shied twice: one we see and another one Fayd move away. he started losing when the executioner poisoned him with the hooks. so if the Harkonnen didn't know who he was, they almost got Na-baron killed. If they knew then it would be a very spectacular fight to see (which it really was a spectacular fight).
@@covenmorgana1571 I dont think there are grunts in the Atreides clan, all of them are lethal and are above Harkonnen in terms of fighting ability. "Atreides legions are the finest in the emperium. Trained by Gurney Halleck (battlemaster) and Duncan Idaho (swordmaster)" - Piter de Vries
@@dancristian8948Perhaps a loss in translation. I meant that they were most likely a common soldier, providing that they have bad fighting tactics: changing in head on. Like in real life, even the finest special force can and had make bad decisions. And also the fact that they are big and intimidating, BIG muscle serve no purpose in blade fighting, if anything it makes one a bigger target and a little bit slower. Again, this is just speculation. I’m curious what do you think they are?
One of the greatest villan introductions of all time
Cinematography, Soundtrack, Austin Butler and Stellan Skarsgard really pure epic :)
,,Happy birthday, Nephew"
Exactly maaan!!!
Stellan Skarsgård was so badass as the Baron
@@sectorgovernor oh yeah
“Now show me who you are”
Exactly what I was thinking while seeing this scene in the theater, this is the best villain introduction I have seen in a long long time in a movie
I love how genuinely alien this sounds even when compared with Part One's score.
it makes Part One almost restrained in comparison!
@kadmii That's the point the rise of something ominous in part 1 even in the book then part 2 and the following sequels the fallout and feral chaos that is unleashed
They are so different from other humans they might as well be aliens, maybe why he went with that score
I warmly welcome everyone. I'm an amateur musician and I finished my Dune soundtrack. If anyone is interested, I invite you to come and listen to it.
Every aspect of this sequel is better than part one. I hated part one. I loved part two. So strange.
They had no reason to go this hard introducing Feyd.. But I am glad they did ..
The scene is in the book.
@@diegoimbraguglio3738it's not about the fact the scene exists, it's the fact they went so all in. And we are thankful it is that way.

Serious chills at the use of bagpipes in this, it felt like an intentional mockery of the Atreites with how disjointed it sounded, playing over the slaves as they faced certain death

I also loved the weird horned guys stepping out of the shadows as it kicked in. Felt like a genuine fever dream.

Feyd Rautha chants sounded insane in the theater, it felt like I was present in the arena
Especially in imax.
Especially the announcer 😫
One of the greatest scenes in film, one of the greatest villain introductions. Absolutely fantastic
Broo they didn’t had to go this hard with Feyd’s entrance into the Arena😭
,,Happy Birthday Nephew" Baron Harkonnen
The other one in this film being Paul's speech to the fundamentalists.
It's hard to put into words just how surreal, alien and beautiful the scene in the arena is. Also, Austin Butler you are a mad man.
The use of black and white setting in this scene in the movie is truly stunning , Combined with the haunting soundtrack, it truly leaves a lasting impression.
Feyd-Rautha 🙌🙌Feyd-Rautha 🙌🙌
the transition between color and the B&W scenes whenever they got closer to the sun light was brilliantly done
They shot that whole sequence in Infrared, by the way!
@@christopherhaines2492indeed, that's why it was also a challenge for the costumes because depending on the fabric, it could look from dark to white (the Baron suit looks white while for Feyd the costume designer had to find the proper material to look completely black)
Harkonnen birthdays are the finest in the entire imperium

Austin Butler slayed, disturbed and shook it as Feyd! I don't think I've ever been more hypnotized and terrified by a villain's introduction since Darth Vader. Give him, Denis, Hans and Greg their flowers for their hard work on this film *PLEASE!* That arena fight scene was *TOTALLY* worth the watch!
Settle down thot
"Under the light of our Black Sun!"
That part gave me chills. It was so surreal.
Apparently this scene was filmed in infra red to get the effect. It wasn't just black and white.
Glorious Black Sun
I've seen some people ask, and apparently the sun is only black because of all the pollution on Giedi Prime.
Its an Infrared sun, or the pollution is so bad only infrared light can shine down on the world.
The Harkonnen are the best part of this movie...So epic and pure evil...I loved the Baron, Feyd and Rabban trio
mine is when paul speak with the south freman
1:25 is what you are here for
You know me so well
This little riff goes sooo hard fr
It is
I come for the little climb at 1:07
The style of Geidi Prime really is the embodyment of its Jodorowsky concept
I got that too after seeing jodorowskys dune. Although villeneuves giedi prime is more toned down.
More H.R Giger concept to be precise.
Also there is a very evident inspiration from Dark City's Strangers.
Under our glorious black sun.
We welcome to these special festivities our beloved leader Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.
His presence today, watching over a spectacle of blood and honor marks the Holy Birthday of our beloved na-Baron, Feyd Rautha.
I have seen horror movies that have failed to make me feel this uneasy
what horror movies have you been watching?
Really ? Geidi Prime was my favourite place aside of Caladan
It's because Giedi Prime is relatable to our own evolutionary failed states such as Russia, Venezuela, etc.
The movie shows a vanity spectacle in a dying, nightmarish world with its fate sealed. It's precisely what the oppressive and degenerative regimes are about.
1:24: Gave me goosebumps. Honestly, it’s the best scene out of the entire film
At this point just give me Harkonnen mini series focused on their society
We need a trilogy just dedicated to them, their politics, and their culture.
Check the encyclopedia for dune
oh I need that! And Austin returning as Feyd of course
Yea I like how creepy and weird they are.
I want with the Sardaukar too
"There he is..."
I love how this movie did Feyd Rautha
"Show me who you are."
“FEYD RAUTHA! FEYD RAUTHA!”
"I ought to drown you in that thub"
"There he is."
As others have have pointed out, it's one of the best villain intro ever and Hans Zimmer's makes the scene flawless. Also, I'm older than dirt and the scenes on Geidi Prime are among the most chilling and disturbing depictions of a dystopia I've ever seen since they're so well made.
The whola Black Sun scene + the worm riding was insane
The first half was great but once Feyd Rautha was introduced, it became an absolute masterpiece!
"Feyd-Rautha" chant🗣
I watched this in IMAX. When they started chanting in their language (Harkonese? Harkonenish?) and beating their chest and all, I got goosebump. What an experience.
This scene on the IMAX screen made me so nauseous because of how much the theater was vibrating from the stereo speakers after eating so much popcorn, but because of that, this was one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie, and it was totally worth it lol
Hans really outdid himself with all of the Harkonnen tracks. They're easily my favorite.
Love the Feyd chants towards the end
1:24 is phenomenal!!
I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen in this scene, the black and white colouring was so striking mixed with butlers performance and this incredible soundtrack it was one of the most unique spectacles in blockbuster cinema I’ve seen in a very long time
will never stop singing this movie's praises. watching this scene in IMAX was a religious experience.
The sheer terror and menace in this track was brilliant. The perfect track to represent The Harkonnens, and especially their most depraved house member.
I watched half this movie w my mouth wide open. Not since interstellar and Dune 1 has my imagination been this set on screen
Imagine the horror of being one of the captured Atreides fighters. Defeated and humiliated on Arrakis, then brought to another alien planet and tortured by the harkonnens before being forced to fight or worse.
I mean i wouldn't consider it a humilliation, the disparity was insanely huge between harkonnens spending litterally all their wealth to crush the atreides + legions of sardaukar, and they couldnt even get it fully done
Pretty much Ancient Rome, but we mostly love the Romans ironically
Wait till you realize there's a country called Mexico 🇲🇽 and Viva Mexicano Cinalova
Cinalova Cartels does more unspeakable horribly torture than whatever movie's you've seen in your life for ; Opposite ganags, Reporters, People who searched about them, Police, Army 🪖 and anyone else cause problem fro them
And there here on Earth, just keep expanding
@@drw_predatorThe cartels are all cowards and worms. There's not a real man among them.
@@TechnicalHotDog Yeah a lot of how truly brutal Rome was by modern standards is mostly glossed over, probably since ancient Rome is (along with ancient Greece, which was also brutal by today's standards) one of the forefathers of Western civilization.
But tbf ALL ancient civilizations were almost unspeakably brutal by our standards, not just Western ones.
Vladimir's entrance was cold, Feyd's was absolutely fire
Not enough people are talking about how wild 2:11 is with Feyd looking sideways and walking ruthlessly to his first prey with this track playing.
0:48 - 1:48 is incredible
Feyd's introduction was brilliantly executed. What an incredible film.
IMAX is gonna be mental
This track literally rumbled my soul to the core. Everything in the theatre was shaking, man xD
It was.
It's been months since I've heard such a wicked, sinister, and imposing Ost, I can't wait to see it combine with those black and white scenes
Edit: Okay, that was a fantastic introduction for Feyd, both Butler's acting, Fraser's cinematography, Zimmer's music, all the production design, lighting, choreography, etc. It was fantastic, although I think Feyd deserved much more time on screen, I think he was an interesting and effective villain, I liked him, I would like to see more of his origins
Would you mind naming some the similar osts you've listened to?
@@phanomtaxskibididoodooTry Goldsmith’s for The Omen. Hereditary as well.
@@phanomtaxskibididoodoo Personally, Oppenheimer's score also had moments where it was maximum tension, but I think that in that sense this Dune soundtrack (that I already heard everything) is superior
@@phanomtaxskibididoodoonot super similar but Mel gibson’s ‘Acopalypto’ soundtrack was so terrifying especially the sacrifice track.
They aren't black and white as such. They are shot in infrared, which gives the environment a truly strange appearance.
First time watching this scene left me in awe and terror.
This scene is one of the best character introductions I've ever seen
I'm so mad at myself for not going to see this in theaters. I really hope they bring it back sometime
Real Mad Max Fury Road vibes on this one!
This is so cool
Best birthday celebration ever.
When this music dropped for Feyd's intro, I sat up 90 degrees in my seat and absorbed it all! The Harkonnen sounds in this film were nothing short of perfect.
Villeneuve's Giedi Prime has become my favorite aesthetic in sci-fi and this music just nails the atmosphere 🖤
Feyd Rautha was my favourite character from part two ngl
harkonnen music has always put me in mind of insects like locus, swarming and devouring all in their path, this track mixes that bug-like droning with some truly insane syths mixed with voices (im assuming this is to represent Feyd)
That’s interesting u say thay because the Harkonnen armor and character designs were supposed to be bug like
That's a great way to put it. Kind of reminds me of the buzzing vocals on Kanye West's Monster or All Day.
Even their space ships and machinery look very bug like
It Won't Be Another Dune Soundtrack Without Hans Zimmer
His Scores Made My Day Greater
This tech sound at the beginning of the HArkonnen arena scene made me feel fear and pressure, but when Feyd started moving and fighting all these beats were perfectly matching the sound & visual. Dennis Villneuve is a truly visionary and Hans Zimmer made this even more mesmerizing
The scene with this soundtrack is one of the best part of the movie and this hits hard in theatre.
Everything about this scene was absolutely masterful. Amazing visuals, sound design, music, action and a stunning performance from Austin Butler. I've never seen anything like it.
1:24 is amazing

This whole sequence was peak. My eyes were glued to the screen. And that ending… what a movie.
this soundtrack will make you go beyond transcendent. experiencing this in imax as this soundtrack and whole scene shook the entire cinema is definitely a heavenly experience.
I feel sorry for people who dont feel dune 2 was a completely immersive amazing experience. What cinema TRULY is

This scene.... This is what I want in film. They did it.
1:25 is the absolute best part of the song
The gladiatorial battle in Part 2 reminds me of those conducted by the hedonistic Emperor Commodus, son of philosopher Marcus Aurelius.
The Emperor’s wealth allowed him to participate in Gladiator battles in the Colosseum with the best swords, armor and equipment while the people he faced were given substandard equipment.
