These movies saved my life. I lost everything in one shot...home, daughter, car, friends and job. I was sleeping in the dirt under some bushes and losing faith day by day. But I kept imagining myself as Bruce Wayne, even though I'm a woman. I imagined my life as the underground prison that Bane left Bruce in, and it helped me to see a way out. To get angry and try. Now I'm 2 semesters away from a nuclear chemistry degree, I have a perfect GPA and have been invited into the honor society. I have my own home and car, my daughter is with a wonderful adopted family, I'm running my own maid business, writing a children's book, and even losing weight. Amazing how a fictional character can shape your determination.

Yes, it was Dent who said it first. It's a depressing quote, especially given how he falls in the end. Had he died a hero instead of Rachel, he wouldn't live long enough to suffer, which made him a villain in the end.
However, it's spoken by Batman the second time. As you well know, Batman didn't want the people of Gotham to lose hope by finding out what their "hero" Dent had done. But his bad deeds couldn't stay hidden, so Batman had to take the blame. It was Batman's heroic sacrifice for the people. Therefore, when credits rolled Dent was still a hero in the eyes of the people, meaning he died like one.
However, despite being innocent, Batman was considered to be a villain by the same people. Therefore, the quote refers to him in the end. Batman didn't die a hero like Dent, but lived long enough *to see* himself become the villain. The quote doesn't say "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to become the villain", but rather "You either die a hero, or you live long enough *to see* yourself become the villain". The quote can't refer to Dent, because he didn't see himself become the villain. He became one. Batman never became a villain. He saw himself be one, or in other words, saw the people seeing him as such.

I was not a big fan of DC. But The Dark Knight was the Best DC movie I ever seen.

Heath Ledger's Joker portrait is the benchmark against which all Jokers will be ranked for everyone who watches the Dark Knight, but alongside him, Christian Bale is measured and brilliant, Aaron Eckhart is deeply compelling, and Batman's world is perfectly captured. And the fact that Christopher Nolan managed such a feat while making a movie that appeals to even broader demographics than most Batman movies is something that should never be overlooked.

The Dark Knight is my 2nd favorite movie next to Gladiator. I saw it 6 times within 4 weeks when it came out in July of 2008. I went to the midnight showing to start and then was on a tear the next 4 weeks. I couldn't get enough of it.

As a big marvel fan, i have to wholeheartedly agree. There's something about Nolan's understanding of Batman, his whole energy and style and personality, the whole aura surrounding Batman amd his universe, etc etc. All 3 films felt like reading a comic book. You know a movie's the real shit when it makes you feel like that. It's so authentic.
I have faith on Pattinson's The Batman. Not convinced it will be equal to Nolan's but I like the direction is taking

Everything about the Dark Knight just clicks, from the cast, to the action scenes, to the dark and gritty tone, to the sometimes peculiar but always memorable score. The Dark Knight is a masterpiece, and the fact that the film has maintained this reputation over a decadeon is testament to that assessment.
Heath Ledger's Joker is truly unlike any other version, alternately psychotic and cunning, disheveled but always mentally in control, and yet, through it all oddly kind of likable, especially since he is an enemy of Gotham City's detestable organized crime lords, and some of the politicians he targets are far from saints as well.
Everyone says nothing is perfect in this world but Nolan's Batman Franchise is. 👍🏼
