I feel like Captain Toad is a perfect example of the golden age of Nintendo. They took an excellent concept and made it into a whole game in only a year. I wish Nintendo was still like this but they’re still great.
It's funny how most people consider the Wii U era Nintendo's darkest period when they actually put out some great games and exhibited many creative concepts
@@Sticknub The issue is that people actually don't care about quality and creativity that much as long as the game isn't broken. What they want is something exciting and...well, the Wiiu just wasn't exciting. I think the main issue is that the Wii U never got a "real" 3D Mario title like 64, Sunshine or Galaxy before it, leaving 3D World (which is much more akin to 2D Mario in structure) as the next best thing. With 3D World on the Switch alongside a "real" 3D Mario title in the form of Odyssey, it's much easier to judge the game fairly.

@traviscunningham7062 Ok. I didn't say anything about Sunshine. But ok. I don't like Sunshine personally. In fact, I think Sunshine is the weakest 3D Mario game ever. Mariomikester: ''First off, there's the big selling point of this game...'' Me: Cats???????????? :D Mariomikester: ''4 player co-op'' Me: oh, uhh, right of course
I never understood certain complaints for this game It's not like the traditional 3D Mario games were going anywhere, this was just bringing the more classic styled Mario games into 3D,which wasn't bad
Actually the sandbox style of Mario games was MIA since 2002 and the games since Sunshine seemed intent on slowly stripping away that style of gameplay (Galaxy went for more linear levels, Galaxy 2 significantly shrunk the hub world and reverted to a 2D style world map, and 3D Land and 3D World removed the collection elements from the game). Also, the classic style Mario games, particularly the modern ones, feel really sterilized and lack the unique setting, characters, and gameplay elements that games like Sunshine, Galaxy, and Odyssey have. And 3D Land and 3D World followed suit with the NSMB-esque sterilization bleeding into the 3D games. So no, until Odyssey it really did feel like 64/Sunshine style experiences were disappearing and we didn't know if they were coming back or if they were just going to make sterilized generic NSMB and 3D series (i.e. like 3D Land/World) games from then until the end of time. Everything Mario was doing up to that point seemed to hint that that was the direction they wanted to take Mario and sandbox style games with creative themes had no place in Mario anymore.
I enjoyed this game immensely and am waiting for for the Switch version to ship. It's the best Switch port as it actually improves the game tather coasting or actually making it worse. I'm looking at you "New Super Mario U." I would like another game like it but in the Bowser's Fury sandbox. That way we can get a phenomenal single and multiplayer game.
Bowser captures a fairy in a jar and he's a villain but when Link does it, he's a hero.

I know I’m very late but I loved this game and just started replaying it again and it is bringing back great memories back when life was simple. But I loved your vid and you earned a sub.
Really enjoyed this video thank you for making!
Him"This game has the best musics even better than mario galaxy's"
Me''You just put a mario galaxy music at the end
Only a psychopath doesn’t 100% every Mario game with optional collectibles.
I'm so glad people gave this game an chance and see how fantastic it is. Most people was disappointed because it wasn't all Super Mario 64 alike.
64 is overrated anyway, the DS version is better
@traviscunningham7062 I mean. I can agree. But I still prefer the 64 version over the DS. I'm not an fan of the D-Pad in 64 DS.
Ok. But I prefer Sunshine over 64. Please respect my opinion.
@traviscunningham7062 Ok. I didn't say anything about Sunshine. But ok. I don't like Sunshine personally. In fact, I think Sunshine is the weakest 3D Mario game ever. But if u like it, than that is fine. Just not for me. I like Galaxy 1 & 2, 3D Land, 3D World and Odyssey more than both 64 & Sunshine. But that's just me and hopefully you will respect that.
BRUH YOU UNLOCKED A HIDDEN MEMORY WITH THAT WIILIKETOPLAY CLIP OMG
0:13 Dragon Quest 1 ... Lol
It’s been 11 years and I still don’t know why Mario’s catsuit is yellow.
Nobody ever hated super Mario 3d world, it got great reviews when it came out, people just thought galaxy was better
Highly underrated and would have gone terribly undernoticed if not for the port to switch
Mariomikester: ''First off, there's the big selling point of this game...''
Me: Cats???????????? :D
Mariomikester: ''4 player co-op''
Me: oh, uhh, right of course
I think we all know what the jars are for, and I think we all don’t want to know what the jars are for
Underrated: No
Masterpiece: Yes
This is my favorite ever mario game
The only thing i dislike is that most worlds levels only have one themed around the world theme
I got this game for my birthday on release day cuz it was my birthday the 21st of november loved the game to death
Champions Road is still the hardest 3d mario level I've ever played. Odyssey didn't have anything that touched it.
Same. That level was insanely hard to beat. It took me more time to accomplish this level than reaching it before.
Still got my Wii U version to this day.
I think this is my favorite mario game of all time. And I have been playing since nes came out.
I completely agree….. WITH EVERYTHING…… I AM NOT EXAGGERATING EVERYTHING STATED IN THIS VIDEO IS STRAIGHT FAX
I never 100%ed this game. I need to go back and do it. I remember the end game being so much harder than the rest of the game.
in the first bowser fight, the fight can be cheesed with fireballs (edit: this also works in the second fight)
I’ve been replaying this game ever since I saw the Mario movie twice in theaters already! 😅
Same!
I never understood certain complaints for this game
It's not like the traditional 3D Mario games were going anywhere, this was just bringing the more classic styled Mario games into 3D,which wasn't bad
Odyssey doesn't even come close for me.
This and Galaxy are way more creative.
Finally, someone who recognized its wonder, coming from a person who went the complete route and beat Champions Road 😅
You could say the first Castle level is cool for an opening but at the same time I finished it before you finished talking about it.
Agree that it is a masterpiece, but it did not receive mixed reviews at launch. The game's average score was 93/100 upon release.
Champions Road is deceptively difficult. You wouldn't expect it if you looked at it, until you actually play it.
I'm watching this just after completing this game to 100%
Super Mario 3D world is my favorite game of all time
Watching Wii like to play, play this was my childhood
It’s my favorite 3D Mario game
Me2
Happy 10th Anniversary Super Mario 3D World.
