The extra speed in the Switch version could actually help in a lot of levels, especially 4-4 and Castle-3.
And it might be enough with toads good throwing ability
It also would’ve helped him out in the great goal pole level even though he was still able to do it here

12:11 - That Castle-3 jump IS possible. You need to bounce atop the tiny brick to gain enough height to clear enough distance, whilst going full speed over the dash panel. You still need to have Luigi throw Peach though for enough distance.

cat momentum actually gets you around the same speed as the switch port, so that confirms the switch's extended cat climbing would not help either in 1-1.

I remember seeing this one video of someone doing a cat momentum thingy and while they were performing it in the air when Peach's glide animation was about to end, they quickly switched powerups to the tanooki suit to float in the air. I don't remember the video but this may help you out on at least maybe 1 level I guess.

In Castle-3, you could use the 2x1 brick that is in front of you before you'll jump (it's even higher than the floor). You can use the same first idea with the 2 blocks in 4-4 (grabbing some speed). Or you can use the speed panel boost. Step in the Speed panel boost, run, do a little jump landing in that little 2x1 brick, then do a higher jump.
Another idea is by someone who wrote in the comments. You can use Rosalina for that level bc of her spin jump, being her "3rd jump".

In 4-4, I think you can use the second rectangle group of Biddybugs to bounce to the third group. When the Biddybugs fly to the left, the other Biddybugs move forward and closer to the second group, so I think it could theoretically work.

For some of the harder jumps I'm surprised that they didn't use tanooki momentum where you transfer cat momentum into the tanooki suit. Long live the mount beanpole glitch.

Bomb ombs below might be a better level for tanooki leaf collecting because the jumps are really easy if done right (for Luigi because Luigi is basically the only character I play) and it’s pretty fast. I think my best time was around a minute.
(And that might be because I spent over 600 tries on Champions Road)
I feel you with 4-4, but with Champians road and the lucky bell and the tunuki suit.
5:53 if you save the game after get the tail suit all you have to do when you lose it was load the game file that you are playing on and it will start you with tail suit

You could probably complete that one Plessie level in world ⭐️ if you didn’t jump onto the back of Plessie, if THAT is even possible.
10:08 Try timing your jump to where you land on the edge of the level to get a little bit more height
you can beat red hot run by the speed boost then jumping with luligi then throw peach at the first 3 secs when luligi jumps and you can just barily make it to the clear pipe!
Star-1 is possible, you can manually walk across that plessie section, just don’t get on plessie
