when he said he had to cut down a 14 page script into a single video, I was expecting it to be just 30 or maybe 40 minutes long. but seeing a 1 hour long Scott the Woz video is never an issue
This is a different vid I think. He said he was going to put that one on the back burner and put out something else this week
And it also feels like an 8-10 minute review, but he never stops talking. Again, more Scott is always good, but this type of review gives off interesting vibes.

As much as I feel Odyssey is the definitive 3D Mario experience, 3D World just has a certain charm to it especially in multiplayer. I ended up beating both the Wii U and Switch version of this game with my siblings, as it was an absolute blast. This is a game you play when you just want to have a fun time with friends or family, while Odyssey is something you play for the single player experience.
I think it's weird that Jesus is God's son and God at the same time.

Yeah, I was really waiting for him to delve into bowsers fury, but he really spent 40 minutes on the original game and 20 minutes on the port while only 6 minutes on the fully new campaign... I still enjoyed the entire video though.

We get less than 10mins of Bowsers Fury in an hour long video?!?!? Bowsers Fury is undoubtedly the absolute highlight of 3D world.
Just discovering both right now for the first time and it's hard to say which I like better. I need to git gud at Bowser's Fury, it's a blast but I get stuck on needing a couple shines I'm not that great at getting, I'm trying to get better at the progression. I was looking at 3D World almost like it was a 2D Mario, like it almost felt that way, but the more I play it the more it develops it's own unique characteristics that mskes it distinct from every other Mario I've played

Mario certainly thrived more than usual during the Wii/Wii U era since those consoles appealed to kids and/or casuals, and everybody knows Mario. So it felt like Nintendo just pumped out as much Mario as possible to take advantage of that.

i want more pseudo-games like this, i think a lot of creative ideas are shelved at nintendo because they’re not mario-ey enough. i doubt we’d ever get a full mario game with the bowser’s fury style, but this was the best way to let it happen in some capacity
tbqh, i think ive enjoyed BF more than any mario game in quite a while. be ause its so bite sized, its just so easy to pic up and play, abd it doesnt feel like a slog to play it from the beginning again. that and figuring out how to do it as fast as possible.

Just like Darth Kai said. I feel that Nintendo was talking about Bowser's Fury when they announced a 3D mario for the Wii U. It probably got scrapped later in favor of a cheaper sequel to 3D land. With some of the assets being used eventually for Mario Odyssey. It would explain the striking similarities between BF and Odyssey.

I'm so happy to see Scott appreciates the game more now. I think with the release of Odyssey and the co package of Bowser's fury, it's so much easier to appreciate 3d world for what it was and not what it wasn't.
I like Scott because he calls the games by their real name, Super Mario Brothers. That alone puts him leagues above most other Nintendo youtubers.

I played 3D world a bit at my cousins house on wii u years ago and we had fun and thought, then i bought it on switch and honestly, i know this isnt gonna be a popular opinion but 3d world might be one if not my favorite Mario game, i enjoyed the game allt more the second time and bowsers fury was a very nice addition

3d world's biggest thing to me is the music. Like, "A Boss Approaches" and "World Bowser" are straight bangers. Then there are more upbeat songs like "Super Bell Hill" and "Double Cherry Pass" and there are more chill beats like "World 5" and "Footlight Lane". I could go on but the music is just so good.

I think all these worlds would have been more memorable if they just got rid of the timer, so you did not feel rushed to get to the end of the stage.
That's a damn good idea. One of the many reasons I enjoy the Galaxy games. The multi-player would be more enjoyable if other players have their own screen when getting further away from one another and morphing into one screen when back together.
Browser's Fury was a genius idea. Using a port of an older game to experiment with game design. There were no expectations for Bowser's Fury. It let's them experiment with more "risky" ideas without having to worry about if the game will flop. They really should do this more often. It eases players into new game design concepts and reduces the possibility that a game with a new concept will flop because the idea was already proven in an experimental title

The existence of Mario Odyssey definitely really helped this game, Odyssey helped 3D World go from "Not The 3D Mario Game People Wanted" into "Not The 3D Mario Game People Wanted (Socially Acceptable Version)"
Even with 3D World's lack of real identity, like Scott said, the game's really fun and well-polished, it's totally fine if it doesn't feel like the original 3D Mario games people love, we have Odyssey now, which helps us appreciate 3D World's existence

You make it sound like 3D World is only good NOW because Super Mario Odyssey exists. 3D World has always been good but now it actually had the chance to shine because it didn't have the unrealistic expectations of stingy Nintendo fans holding it down. So many people prefer this style of 3D Mario over the SandBox style, but as a fan of both, I don't see why the gameplay styles can't co-exist without constantly comparing them between each other.

I think after Borderline Forever, the universe realized Scott isn't someone to be trifled with and is steering clear of him.

3d world + Bowser's fury is a low key masterpiece. A joy from start to finish. All killer, no filler. Never have I hated so much a game on release to just adore it so much, 8 years later.
Seriously, BF is like a mini odyssey it really pushed the engine that 3D world was on and it made me buy the re-release as its something only the switch could do

In all honesty whenever i see a new Scott video I am just generally happy for a good few hours
Scott. You have no idea how happy it makes me that this video is comprehensive of the entire life span of this game.
I played 3D World on Wii U once and I thought it was slow, boring, and derivative. However; because of Bowser’s Fury, I bought the new deluxe version and my god I fell in love. I couldn’t put this new version of 3D World down. It was so charming. I had been so wrong about 3D World this whole time and I was actually happy that I had this hidden gem of Nintendo Magic that I could experience for the first time at my age.
Anyway. After all that with the game, coming and watching your entire experience with the game is such a wonderful treat.
3D World was the first game I beat on my own. I will never forget how epic that final boss was and how proud I was to finish it without the help of an older sibling. It is my favorite Mario game. It’s just so polished and perfect and fun.

The crown in this game really is such an interesting insight into the human brain. Every time I’ve played this game with others, every single level starts with everyone throwing eachother around and ground pounding everywhere trying to steal the shiny crown that does absolutely nothing other than sparkle
Scott should make a video about the camera in games. How it changes gameplay, changes between types of games, how it evolved. It'd be a great video.

I recently played SM3DW when it came out for switch... and I was so blown away by the amount of end game content, you just keep unlocking worlds, and they get better. I still never even unlocked the last world with the champion road. I think it's so rare these days for a game to just keep giving you more levels, even when you think for sure it's over, that's what I really liked about it.
It’s been a couple years since I’ve touched the game(on Wiiu lol) and me and my brother are still stuck on world star level 3 lol :,D
