Bruh I was 8 years old when I played 3d land and 3d land was my first Mario game I ever played and the 3ds was the first personal Nintendo system I ever owned.

That entire era of Nintendo is underrated. They made some of the best games of all time from 2011 to 2015. Shame people overlook that era.
I think the Wii U turned a lot of ppl away from Nintendo and not that many played these games.

3D Land still has my favorite Bowser battle ever. Between the DK reference with Bowser throwing barrels, to him jumping back up after you hit the first switch, to the part where you run away from him on the bridge, it is amazing.
3d land's Bowser fight is great yes, but it doesn't really compare to Galaxy's. Have you played that game?
@@kenanbroersma709 Yeah, Galaxy's has my favorite music of any Bowser fight, but there is something I find more special about this fight overall.

as it stands it's just you running and jumping with little variation in how you do so
it's the kinda fight where you should have to think quick on your feet, but instead you don't have to think at all
and bowser is a completely irrelevant part of the fight for most of it since he just shots fireballs at where you were 2 hours ago

Confession: I never really stopped playing it. I always came back from time to time. And while it didn’t always live up to the EXCITEMENT of playing it when I was a kid, it still held up as a great game. I’ll never forget it. How could I, it was the first Mario game I’d ever played in the car.

Same here. I'm 22 now (well, I turn 22 next month) and still love Mario and play this game at least once a week. I'm so glad I grew up in a time of rapidly changing handheld gaming technology. I'm old enough to remember the Gameboy Advance (and have even played the original Gameboy and Gameboy Color before), then I remember the DS (which I at first called the Gameboy DS), then the DS XL, then the 3DS.
@@LyttonAshcroft Wow… cool. The Wii was my first, but that was only on my TV. When I got 3DS I couldn’t fathom how they fit a whole Mario game onto this little flip device. I really am the kind of kid that always wished he was born earlier… like 4 or 5 decades. Different times; I would’ve loved it.

For a completely original handheld 3D Mario experience, it was definitely a great game. Sure, some other games in the series may beat it in terms of enjoyment, but Super Mario 3D land was amazing for what it was.

@Steven Jones in 3D Land the levels was more creatively fun an the thing what made me also not enjoy 3D World was the catsuit. I only find it fun in a open world like Bowsers Fury. The catsuit made me rush thru the levels fast in 3D World. Climbing takes away the difficulty in Mario 3D World unless it's a open world that's the only way I consider catsuit to be fun....
I miss Satoru Iwata, he was the guy who decided to bring the GameCube, Wii, DS, 3DS and Wii U into action for Mario, also for Kirby and Pokémon. He was kind hearted in the end and didn't deserve to die because of the over working of stress when making those games, for other people to enjoy.

Being overworked and over stressed manifests as illnesses and diseases that can be easy for some people to get over but for someone who is overworked and over stressed, they would get very, very sick

@@Mac14329 I mean I don’t know for a fact but my educated guess between Japanese work culture and Nintendos output and the demands they put on workers I would just assume that he really was. Some people can deal with that better than others though so what is overworked for one person may not be the same for another. I’ve read stories online about how Nintendo overworks their employees but that’s a good point, I truly don’t know.
3D land is an absolute masterpiece and i will die on that hill
I remember when I was younger how much I enjoyed this game. Nintendo did really well with focusing on level designs and it's also really nice to have 8 extra worlds after you finish the game, that gives you hundreds of hours of new content. This game works very well in everything it is intended to achieve. It's a real master piece of the 3ds
Hundreds is WAY too much, but yes they are very much a blast to play through. I’m shocked they’re unique. Most extra levels in games just remix the original ones.
I remember spending ages tryna beat the final level, then once I had the game immediately presented us with an additional 8 EXTRA worlds. That blew my mind
Super Mario 3D Land was my first 3D Mario game as a kid. And it warms my heart to see people finally acknowledging the game and realizing it is a wonderful time and underrated masterpiece. It's Not Mario 64 or Galaxy. But it sure as hell just as a good of a game as them.
Miyamoto said in an interview "Super mario 3d land is like 64 and galaxy combined"
It is unbelievable to me how short of a development cycle this game had and still managed to be one of the most unique games of the series, along with new gimmicks in almost every single level and one of the best endgame sections of any Nintendo games.

3d land is damn good. I prefer over 3d world as a matter of fact. the bite sized shorter levels work with this style of game, where in 3d world, I felt it got boring after a while. 3d world has cooler aesthetics, but that's it for me. 3d land is an underrated mario game in general, and I love it a lot.
Whenever I see Mario in a Tanuki suit I just think of The Adventures Of Super Mario (the cartoon) and my mom and I feel all happy inside! :] Yeah I never actually played Super Mario 3D Land (my Older brother got Samurai Warriors Chronicles as the first 3DS game and I LOVED IT), but I do remember seeing it all the time in the Mii Plaza puzzle thing, just admiring the little diorama. It was the closest thing to actually *owning* it! Sigh~here’s hoping to a Mii Plaza on the Switch’s Successor Godwilling!

This game is the ultimate time killer. It’s a game you can quite literally pick up and just play for a bit. It’s brain dead easy and really enjoyable. It caters to both casual players and long time fans of the series. This game is so underrated and nobody talks about it.
3D Land gives off so much nostalgia for me. It makes me so happy that youtubers like you are giving it the love that it deserves :)

I loved the competition of seeing who could finish the level faster. I hopped in a tanookie suit and started long jumping and summer salting across levels.

I loved how Nintendo was able to combine the exploration and experience of the 3D games with the fast-paced and confined spaces of the 2D games. This game was one of the earliest I've played, and it's become so influential as to have a reference in Super Mario Odyssey.
you get to that special world 8, and you really feel the accomplishments it took to get there through the the music alone, shit still brings me to tears hearing it

this is almost universally loved by every mario fan why would it be hated? it is a bit underrated in the sense that people haven’t brought it but its rerelease for the switch changed that but it was fairly underrated before that

I would generally stay up entire nights playing this game under the blanket on my Nintendo 3DS, the nostalgia hits hard lol.
It was an incredible game. The levels are awesome, the controls were great, the 3D 'at least, on the New 3DS' was stellar and the difficulty jump from the first playthrough to the S levels was a pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting when I first played it. Love this game

This is the biggest nostalgia rush I’ve ever felt in my LIFE this came out the year I was born and I would always play it when I was 7-9 yrs old I want to buy a new 3Ds and a New Super Mario 3D land game to relive the nostalgia

I’ve gotta admit; really loving💕 this 3D Mario retrospective so far. All that’s left at this point are Super Mario 64 DS and Bowser’s Fury (which I’d imagine TONS of people are most likely begging to see your takes on at this point, including myself). After all, it WOULD complete your 3D Mario saga.

I love this game, the levels are great and the use of 3D effects is really creative, still load it up every couple years and play a few levels. I remember the final bowser fight of the second run being hard AF. I died many times, lol.
I can definitely agree that this game was underrated! And I think that the final bowser fight is leagues ahead of 3d worlds final bossfight.
Conceptually I think 3D World’s is better (Bowser using items you’ve used in the game is so cool), but mechanically 3D Land is better to play

I really like this review, it actually highlights the good things about SM3DL. My one problem is that the really hard final final level was missed, but everything else was done really well.

Don't forget to mention the true final level once you've beaten every single level with both mario and Luigi and collected all starcoins... I love that level and it is probably the hardest one
I love this game and World so much. I was surprised at some parts thinking Land clips were World, taking me off guard on how good it looks. But you’ll never trick me into believing L is real! Not again, oh my heart!

This game was my very first exsperience with Mario as a child, I probably played it through 3 times in the first year or so I had it. It is super reminiscent of my childhood. I need to play it through again
Absolutely one of my favorite Mario games next to Galaxy 2. I did a huge marathon of Mario platformers and RPGs from like August to November of 2020, and this was absolutely one of the high points. The levels are so tightly crafted and perfect for single player. By comparison, I found myself a little bored playing 3D World by myself.

I need to give a shoutout for the special worlds, These remix levels were super fun to playthrough and were my favourite part of the post game, And i had alot of fun trying to guess what was gonna be different about the level

Bought an used 3DS XL a week ago , because I grew up with Gameboy and DS and had no money for the 3DS back then. In stores I played 3D Land for 5 minutes and with the 3DS bought, I had this nostalgic feeling of "I want to experience this game". So bought that too and it's the best gaming experience I ever had. Myself a gamedeveloper couldn't imagine what cool tricks are possible, and they used so many. Such an incredible game, but there are so few levels, I want more 😂 it's the first time I'm considering buying a VR headset and write my own puzzle game or 3D Platformer
This game has so much content, to the point where I haven't finished the secret world 8! I even needed help on some of the courses when I was younger.

The best I could describe this game is that it’s literally like a box of chocolates. Never know what you’re gonna get, always full of goodies and best of all comes in two layers.

I had the 3DS back in 2012. This was my first game, I had fun with it but as I completed the game, I didn’t really went back to play it again. Though, it really was fun because it had some essence of the classic mario and galaxy

This video reminded me just how good the final boss stage is. Probably the best Bowser fight of any Mario game imo.
I do have to say this is one of the best 3ds games ever. I remember replaying Special 2-4 so much because Propeller Box + Trampoline= Very Fun

The fact that the credits roll at what is essentially the quarter point for 100% is wild to me.
3D World is one of the few games I've 100% multiple times, I enjoy it so much, simple and fun

The best thing in story is that unlike most of mario games, we see Peach actually trying to escape. Even though she did not succeed it is some unique and that is why I like it.
When I saw that first level I remembered the great old days
