Nice! I am in the everlasting process of swapping a 3uz into a MK3 Supra NA and it's nice to have a visual reference for this process. I'm not sure if we did everything right because we mounted the kit a while ago. Thanks for the video!
thank u for documenting this i'm probably gonna follow in ur footsteps. the lighter weight and higher displacement are awesome for me, much better than the 1jz which i was originally gonna swap. cheaper too!
also noticed you removed those dowel pins i made my own adapter plate for the uz to w58 and i based all the alignments on those dowel pins there actually what gives that surface the structural integrety it needs now all that tq is reliant on those bolts
Hey mate. I’ve got a vzn130 manual box surf. I’m looking at swapping the 3VZE out for a ford 302 Windsor. Any chance you’ve done this combo before? I’m looking at using the factory surf running gear, so would be getting an adapter plate made up. From your experience could you see any obvious issues I might come up against.
Poor man- I cannot find link to buy the ultra bright 1157 LED Bulbs you made a video on. Ok am close to getting my 77 Cutlass 'S' on road after 17 year frame off. Please let me know where to be it those.
Great video and I will definitely use the xat information for my build. With your throttlebody are you using an Xcessive peice to make it full drive by cable?
That does not seem logical since they are the same series transmissions with just different gear ratios. Also, you swapped out the newer W55 / steel plate with the older W58 without the steel plate which seems like a strength disadvantage.
I’d rather just convert over to r154 box but all good if that’s what ya got …. I put a 2jz/r154 in a 94 hilux stupidly fast and fun I’m a automotive machinist so make my own adapter plates ect I’ve fund if going to do something go with the better option w58 box’s don’t last long… anyone in nz give me a holla lol can make to suit bell housing ,drive shafts ect to suit I’m qualified to do certification modifications except I need renew crack testing license….. I’ve used a few of the ba/bf falcon concentric slave cylinder same a chev ls slave cylinder I used the quarter master concentric slave cylinder in last few conversions cause gas more travel and more adjustable
I figured I don't need anything stronger than a W58 for this build but we will see what happens. I have an r154 in my supra. if the W58 brakes I'll swap in the r154 and then put a 6 speed in the supra 😅
you completely wasted your time when you look up rebuild kits for the w58 trans it will have two different kits the kit for mk3 and all other w series transmissions and then the kit for the swan neck and tripod w58 and 55 the later kit is different as they have triple synchros and wider bearings you used a w58 with an aluminum center housing meaning its from a celica making it the most weakest most unreliable w you would be better off with the w55 or a swan neck/tripod varient i personally have ran a swan neck w58 behind my 2jzgte vvti with sp63 turbo at over 20 psi i guarentee the hodgepodge trans you came up with would last one launch in my setup
@@PoorManModsSure, the aluminum bearing plate W58s are technically weaker than the steel plates... but my old Mk3 NA Supra had an aluminum W58, and I drove the almighty shit out of that car for over a decade, and it was a built 7MGE that revved to 8 grand. When the cancer got to her, the 7M went into a 4runner... and I still have that W58
This series is addictive. Love the UZ XE10 stuff.
Thank you hahaha
@@PoorManMods did you ever get that steering rack spacing sorted? Recommended a JZS160 steering rack a few videos back.

I wish there were dowel pins like a factory bell to locate the trans better.
Just gotta hump it into submission 🤣
@@PoorManMods Yeah the persistent input shaft whine even after a Marlin Crawler rebuild would suggest otherwise.
Very helpful video thanks.
youre welcome, thanks!
Love to see you continue the videos of uz swap steps
thank you!
Put some kind of material around hoses, so bell will not cut off the hoses.
Love the hood prop!
Hahaha

I mean that's how the kit was designed, I didn't make it.
Good stuff Fredd dog, will be getting this for my Crown Makesta
Hell yeah, thanks buddy!
I never knew the w58 was so much smaller i would have thought it was the other way
i think the w58 just seemed smaller because it didnt have a bell housing on it in the beginning
Amazing vid. Lots of good info
Thank you so much!

Yup that's exactly what I did
@@PoorManMods awesome, thanks for the information!
damn man love these vids. youre knowledgable asf
Thank you!!
I can make that for w58 traybod?
Would you sell the shift selector from the w58?
Dont you also need to extend the shifter linkage 1-1/2" for the 1uz?
I didn't
@PoorManMods how was the shifter location? Was it too far forward?
@@Rooster_king if you watch the rest of this serious i show you EVERYTHING
The w55 from 80's toyotas fits with 1UZ?
With the adapter kit yes
looking to get rid of the w55? i just blew 2nd in mine ):
not at the moment haha, sorry about yours though
Isn’t the one 1uz automatic transmission the same one as the IS300 automatic transmission??.
maybe, idk
No
So, are the 58's heavy duty compared to the 55? And then how does the 58 compare to the R154?
From what I understand the W55 is good for like 3000tq max, the W58 is good for 450ish I think? And an r154 is capable of 700+ I think?
That does not seem logical since they are the same series transmissions with just different gear ratios. Also, you swapped out the newer W55 / steel plate with the older W58 without the steel plate which seems like a strength disadvantage.
What benefits will it give?
will what give?
More burnouts?
would ya sell me that shifter off the w58?
Shoot me an email

Well then I guess it's a good thing the transmission isn't in your car and doing launches? This car is a daily driver, not a drag car.
