Suspect the dirty air ducts (also known as the queen Mary ducts) between hood and intake are getting blocked, likely that black nvh material you had noted in the first video during test drive. Love your videos, and great you now have a L405.
Ha ha, when I watched the test drive video I did think that it was odd hanging loose like that, slightly at an advantage in that I am JLR SVO and my role is mainly around problem solving power train issues. Have been watching LR tine for a while and will continue to do so, I find them entertaining and educational.
What puzzles me is the second diagnostics message (the one at the top) stating Air Flow Too High. That is quite misleading with an airflow restriction. Is that an artifact of a vacuum buildup in the inlet?
This is the only automotive channel , single car brand, which i do not own the car nor a brand i like.... but i love the 2 awesome hosts❤. I really enjoy this channel🎉. Thanks Chris n Vera
Happy New Year to you Christian and Vera, let's hope the videos to come are as informative and entertaining as they were in 2023! And I'm looking forward to the answer to the limp mode problem next Sunday!
Another excellent video, Sundays now would not be the same without an LR Time video, love the fault finding and banter between Christian and Vera.....Happy New Year.
First time in my life that I will be waiting in anticipation for a TH-cam video. May 2024 be filled with health, wealth and happiness. Regards from Namibia.
I love this channel, and I would love to have a Range Rover. But this channel confirms its not for people without a workshop, patience or enough money not to care… all the best for 2024
Guys I’m so glad ye bought this car, even though I’m not at L405 stage yet I’ve gone from my 06 disco 3 to a 12 L322 with the same engine so I’ll be watching all these videos with interest. Christian joined fullfatrr the same week I did so I think we purchased on a similar date. I’m 4 weeks into all the same jobs so it’s nice to know I’m not alone 😀.
I have determined that Christian secretly works for Toyota. I base this on 1) for someone who knows nothing about Toyota, he knows a lot about Toyota; and 2) these videos, enjoyable as they are, sell a hell of a lot of Toyotas ! Vera: "Oh my God !"
every now and then I look to see if I would buy a range rover, especially now when the prices of used ones have hit the bottom. Then I see how you two keep fixing them and I see how unnecessarily complicated they are and how much it would cost to have them repaired. You two have saved me thousands and thousands of dollars. Thank you
When my children are older, I’m definitely going to get myself a Range Rover and fix it myself. Just don’t have the time at the moment, and not paying a dealership or even an independent to do it. If Christian and Vera can do it, so can you! Inspirational stuff!
Alles Gute zum neuen Jahr Vera and Christian. Many thanks for all the informative and entertaining videos during 2023. I am looking forward to many more in 2024.
i'm so happy to drive a toyota and not have al those problems..😇 thanks for the entertainmaint this year, it has been enjoyable to watch. best wishes and a happy newyear
I had an issue with restricted performance on a Freelander 2.2d and the fault codes pointed to turbo issues, but it was actually glow plugs that caused the problem, so it's not always easy to diagnose these type of faults.
I love a simply overlooked issue that drives you nuts. However my future self has seen a complete teardown and rebuild along with a vehicle being sold... All the best to you Christian and Vera. Love your videos.
Another great sunday morning you never ever fail to entertain us .We will be back next sunday with maple bar and coffee . We finally got some rain here in Sand Diego drove to the donut shop no problem yum. Happy Trails
Ive had problems like that, on a couple of Harley Davidson's took me three weeks to work it out, a few years later i had another problem also took me three weeks, the thing was they were both the same problem and i forgot about the first time!!!!😮 (Its supposed to be red face! Lol) It kept me up at night trying to fugure out what it was? It ended up being a broken cotter pin on the cam shaft/ignition timing, simple when you find! Lol. So your not the only one to overlook a simple thing. We always think the worst, is the problem, especially with all those electronic disasters under the bonnet. Ive replaced coils condensers, points etc to finally find it was just a miss firing bloody plug! Thats whats called the non thinking thinking. (I was young dumb and didn't want to know any better!! 😊) Have a great new year both.
Happy new year to you all, absolutely brilliant video as always! I’m an owner of a 2011 L322, so I’m taking particular interest in the new videos, wouldn’t change it for anything, well, at least until it’s used up all of my savings 😂
Every video of yours convinces me that I can buy my favorite LR Disco3, 4, or Range Rover. They are not much more prone to breakdowns than other car brands if properly maintained. Happy New Year Cristian and Vera, many accident-free kilometers with the Range Rover and Discos3,4, and above all many great videos. Well thank you.
Excellent job drilling that broken bolt out, I like the idea of the adjacent bolt to act as a drilling guide. I know you’re probably way ahead of me now, and I’m not trying to be a desktop mechanic, but have you considered using left hand fluted drills (anti-clockwise rotation) for drilling out bolts. I have a selection of smaller sized left hand flute drills, and I’ve on a couple of occasions had the drill bite into a bolt and unscrew it as I drilled into it. I know it may not have worked on that steel bolt in alloy if it had partially corroded in. But with the left hand drills at least any rotational force is in the correct direction if it bites. They are available on Amazon and other places.
I think Christian knew what the problem was before he'd left McD's, "Burning a 100 litres in test drives" was for me the real reason for the prolonged diagnosis, it sounded like alot of fun, Happy New Year to you both and look forward to more of your LR shenanigans.
Christian is the type of guy that will take apart a no start engine before checking if there’s fuel in the tank. I owned a L322 RR that had the same problem. Sold it before I got to the bottom of it. RR’s are incredibly more sensitive and complex-that’s why I went back to a Discovery 4 (LR4 here in the U.S.) Your videos are part of my Sunday morning routine. Keep up the good work and Happy New Year!
Bugger. NYE and i have scotch instead of red wine and I didn’t get a reminder until an hour after the video was launched. No chips tonight, I’m on a diet. Happy new year to you both. Looking forward to your videos in 2024.
Impressive methodology working through the fault cause(s) and it’s not time wasted on this complex beast, so much stuff under that bonnet! These moving valves underneath exposed to the road grit, heat and weather must be an annual job, love the lathe work, that wasn’t simple to set and then finding oil leaks…well, hours of footage there. How do you find time to go to the day job….
Some problems lead you down the wrong path coz you think it's something more serious but in the end something simple.every day is a learning day . we all have them . hope you had a good Christmas with lots of presents .and a good new year .
All those people with the same problem are waiting with baited breath lol, congrats on the fix and happy new year to you from South Wales. Keep up the great content 👌
I have Just discovered your channel and I am enjoying it greatly, it reminds me of when I was stationed in Germany many years ago in your wonderful country. I loved all the people the food and of course the beer, good luck with your new project.
Just found your channel. I love the content and especially, the sarcasm. As someone that would like to own an L405 in the future (maybe a sport instead, but the mechanicals should be the same), I'm very interested in the content. Seeing the driving videos makes me want to visit Germany again. I have been there for three BMW euro delivery trips plus a few work trips so I've spent a bit of time there.
Happy new year to the Muth family, I'm looking forward to another great year of Land rover content. However I can not believe you are making us wait for the fault. have a great evening guys.
A little tip re the broken studs, Iv'e been doing this for over fifty years. Weld a heavy section washer (they are called form C) on to the stud first. This is easier as you dont have to reach in so far to weld. Then weld a nut to the washer, get a washer a little bigger in diameter than the nut then weld the outer edge of the nut to the washer. You can weld the inside of the nut as well to be belt and braces. Then let the nut cool until you can almost touch it before burning your fingers. At this temp give it plenty wd40 or similar. Let it cool right down dont rush it, have patience, Give it more juice then attempt to screw it out, if it starts to resist carefully screw back in again with more juice. If it only moves a bit dont be tempted to keep going screw it back in. Keep this up until it comes out. If it breaks off start again. Take your time dont rush it use plenty of patience. Happy new year, John.
Great channel! Thank you very much! My guess is that the "unexpected" operation is the root of the problem. This means that the actuator is opening when it should not or visa versa. You have proved the operation so the problem is coming from the solenoid valve. This can either be electrical or mechanically driven. It's a simple coil to to me it should not actuate correctly once and then different next time. This suggests it's either and unexpected electrical pulse telling it to operate or the little valve is passing vacuum when it should not. If you say you could have fixed it on the way to the big M then it's probably a leak on the vacuum circuit and not a loose electrical connection on the solenoid. Can't wait for next year. Happy new year.
Happy New Year to you and birthday wishes to Vera. My son gave me LR Time patches and decals for X-mas, which was delightfully unexpected and appreciated. You two are a weekly delight. You are diligent, joyous, energetic, indefatigable and witty and also wonderful supportive parents. There is so much to admire. Thank you so much. LR4V8 and Evoque now upgraded with decals.
Snapped bolt removal tool set you should buy one have this snapped bolt out in minutes 👏 thank me later 👌 your doing awesome job love your videos happy new year 🎉
I can't believe you made us wait another week 😂 It is a holiday here in the UK tomorrow so how about an extra video just for us! Buying the Range Rover is a great move. Happy New Year to everyone!
@Vera_and_Christian I have been a Landrover Specialist garage for over 30 years here in the UK and I find huge value in watching your channel....... Oh and for good reason... My wife drives a Toyota !!! Keep up the good work.
Another great video for a Toyota owner who knows nothing about Land Rovers. Your methods of diagnostics are a good lesson. Santa just bought me the Gedore Red socket set that you use. I have wanted one for years, even before seeing it used on your channel. I have plenty of sockets but I thought it would be a good set to keep in the back of the Land Cruiser. (Just to look pretty, we never fix anything on Land Cruisers.) It is the cheaper Gedore range made in Taiwan, but is is so bloody German. Sockets are sockets but this set contains every bit you could think of, Ribe, triple square, 5 point Tx for the VW/Audi's, Tx up to T70, who uses T70? But if I need one it is there. Love the channel, thanks for all your effort.
👍👌But I have had the 1/4 inch pivotal extension fail on me. It loosened to much. And also the 15mm 1/2 socket tore the first time we used it. I got both replaced under warranty and I did not had to send the entire set in. Also make sure to check your car for nuts and bolts not covered in that set. Land Rover Discoverys have, for example, two 12point bolts installed, one in the brake calibers, and the other somewhere in the suspension. We carry those in addition to that set. Happy New Year🙋♀️
Hey, thanks for your content and the detailed explanations - there are not many people on youtube that dive so deeply into these topics! Much, much respect! Furthermore: I am very happy to see a L405! You now have my complete attention!
Happy New Year to you both. I went back to the first video of the L405 and it’s that material in the air duct you commented on & stuffed back in. Although I’d love a Range Rover, I think I’ll stick with my D3 for now!
If the vacuum comes from the air pressure drop across the air filter then a missing filter will stop it working , or a low drop air filter will also stop it working , it a blockage in the pipe or a lak in the vacuum pipe OR a crack in the air box slowing air in on the wrong side of the filter
I adore you guys. Thank you for making awesome content - I love your wit and your personalities are such a delightful match! I’m super excited to see more L405 content.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and it made me smile throughout it. So, was it the small hose on the main air box you looked for when you highlighted that often people introduce secondary faults when trying to fix the primary one? Was it off before and then you put it back on ......? Find out next year no doubt 😁👍hope you have a great new year
"at the end of the day, it's all the same"...we love you Vera, but it's not. Without Christian this stuff would be impossible and certainly not the same as a Discovery. The RR V8 is a whole different can of worms. Good luck! I like the way that you ended the video. Very unusual and a great way to monetise Christian's fault-finding efforts. The next video's findings will be worth the watch.
Christian, did not follow, Vera's instructions by applying lube to the MAF after cleaning it. Then your BAS being in a stuck open position, the plausible reason I think could be that the actuator bent or lubrication within the shaft housing. We shall have to wait till next week to hear your verdict Happy New Year to Vera & Christian, may it be a Healthy and prosperous year full of happy entertainment for us on the other side of the screen
I really like how you solve problems in your L405. Maybe one of the viewers or creators of the channel will help me with my problem. L405 2016 TDV8, once every few hundred kilometers, enters limp mode (restricted performance) and records error P006A-84 (correlation of boost pressure and air flow). Most often, the error appears when driving on cruise control and returning to the set speed. The smoke test shows nothing. Air mass flow meters replaced. The pressure sensor often becomes contaminated with soot, it has been cleaned several times, but I have no influence on the error. Turbo valve assembly cleaned and checked. The intake manifold was cleaned and the rubber connections replaced. I've run out of ideas on what to do next.
Did you watch all the following vidoes on our Range Rover L405? If not, then check them out or at least watch this one here th-cam.com/video/-OKADykW3io/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SRzaAvc6d82UXtk4👍🙋♀️
Another cliff hangar situation to survive for a week. Just relaxed after the non starting Discovery rebuild. So the engine is already better than when it left the factory after Christian precision fettling. Very well! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year and looking forward to more Above and Beyond antics for 2024. I don't know if HRH is new enough to be an 'open house' model, apparently freely accessible to lowlife armed with an antenna, some wire and a transmitter to detect and relay your key's wireless signal to open doors, start and drive it away, but investigating and maybe confirming that keeping your keys in a biscuit tin Faraday cage might be interesting and valuable for long-suffering owners.
Suspect the dirty air ducts (also known as the queen Mary ducts) between hood and intake are getting blocked, likely that black nvh material you had noted in the first video during test drive. Love your videos, and great you now have a L405.
Holy cow. You got it. Please do watch the next video so! Christian
Ha ha, when I watched the test drive video I did think that it was odd hanging loose like that, slightly at an advantage in that I am JLR SVO and my role is mainly around problem solving power train issues. Have been watching LR tine for a while and will continue to do so, I find them entertaining and educational.
Happy new year to you and your family
Another fantastic Video, I think you should get a job at the JLR training centre
What puzzles me is the second diagnostics message (the one at the top) stating Air Flow Too High. That is quite misleading with an airflow restriction. Is that an artifact of a vacuum buildup in the inlet?
Best diagnostics comes from understanding the system. Well done.
I don't even have a LR but love your videos 😊 your knowledge and attitude to tackling stuff is brilliant 👍
Same here, I like the L322 and or the Discovery 4 but my problem now is I only trust him to fix it, because he is German
Same here
This is the only automotive channel , single car brand, which i do not own the car nor a brand i like.... but i love the 2 awesome hosts❤. I really enjoy this channel🎉. Thanks Chris n Vera
"I like to look at the colour code" - "envy white" - you guys are brilliant! Should be on stage.
Happy New Year to you Christian and Vera, let's hope the videos to come are as informative and entertaining as they were in 2023! And I'm looking forward to the answer to the limp mode problem next Sunday!
I think I should step in here and defend Christian. Vera has never once suggested limp mode was an issue.
Happy New Year Christian and Vera! Entertainment value of this channel is great! Can’t believe you don’t have 500,000 subscribers by now.
Sheer class, Christian and Vera, this episode has it all. Suspense, drama but the ‘Queen’ didn’t bargain on the CV tenacity!! Bravo you guys.😵💫😵💫
I have determined that Christian secretly works for Toyota. I base this on 1) for someone who knows nothing about Toyota, he knows a lot about Toyota; and 2) these videos, enjoyable as they are, sell a hell of a lot of Toyotas !

Oh, better wait for the next videos before you drop that thought of buying one. 😃👍👍
Love you guys, you are making very interesting content with great humour and very positive attitude!
All the best in 2024!
When my children are older, I’m definitely going to get myself a Range Rover and fix it myself. Just don’t have the time at the moment, and not paying a dealership or even an independent to do it. If Christian and Vera can do it, so can you! Inspirational stuff!
Happy new year to Christian and Vera also all LR time viewers
Now we all have to wait a whole year until 2024 to see the fix. Happy new year from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 🦘
Lol.
Alles Gute zum neuen Jahr Vera and Christian. Many thanks for all the informative and entertaining videos during 2023. I am looking forward to many more in 2024.
Please do a mid-week video. Its summer holiday here in Australia and we need more content like this before we all go back to work. :) 😁
You said that the shaft was moving in and out very smoothly.
Some times a rough shaft could be better !!!! Happy 2024.
i'm so happy to drive a toyota and not have al those problems..😇
thanks for the entertainmaint this year, it has been enjoyable to watch. best wishes and a happy newyear
I had an issue with restricted performance on a Freelander 2.2d and the fault codes pointed to turbo issues, but it was actually glow plugs that caused the problem, so it's not always easy to diagnose these type of faults.
You guys are the best JLR channel on youtube! Also I'm from Australia 😜
Brilliant carrot dangling, I now have to wait for the next video ❤
Happy new year to all LR time family
I love a simply overlooked issue that drives you nuts. However my future self has seen a complete teardown and rebuild along with a vehicle being sold...
All the best to you Christian and Vera. Love your videos.
Glad to see that your new RR is starting to fail already to keep you busy.
Another great sunday morning you never ever fail to entertain us .We will be back next sunday with maple bar and coffee . We finally got some rain here in Sand Diego drove to the donut shop no problem yum. Happy Trails
I can barely toast bread without burning it, so I envy your patience and skill. Love your videos 😊
I knew A Range Rover based series would be brilliant - Thank you and Happy New Year.
Have a great new year both.
Very knowledgeable people! Love it.❤
Two of my most favourite people on TH-cam 🍺🤠👍🏻
😊🙏🙋♀️
Happy new year to you all, absolutely brilliant video as always! I’m an owner of a 2011 L322, so I’m taking particular interest in the new videos, wouldn’t change it for anything, well, at least until it’s used up all of my savings 😂
Every video of yours convinces me that I can buy my favorite LR Disco3, 4, or Range Rover. They are not much more prone to breakdowns than other car brands if properly maintained.
Happy New Year Cristian and Vera, many accident-free kilometers with the Range Rover and Discos3,4, and above all many great videos. Well thank you.
So glad you have bought a l405, I'm considering it. I have currently the l320 sdv6!
My two favorites TH-camrs!
😊🙏🙋♀️
I think Christian knew what the problem was before he'd left McD's, "Burning a 100 litres in test drives" was for me the real reason for the prolonged diagnosis, it sounded like alot of fun, Happy New Year to you both and look forward to more of your LR shenanigans.
STILL THE BEST ON THE TUBE 💚👍
Brilliant ! .... again...... great diagnostics and patience!
Just love you two what a mechanic Christian is and what an assistant thanks guys look forward to the next one.
Excellent work, you too. So great to see this channel alive and thriving. You are doing a great job.
Bugger. NYE and i have scotch instead of red wine and I didn’t get a reminder until an hour after the video was launched. No chips tonight, I’m on a diet. Happy new year to you both. Looking forward to your videos in 2024.
Thanks again for letting me visit your workshop. Look forward to next Sunday. Happy New Year.

You bet. I made a science project out of nothing. But so did LR.
Happy new year guys. I can’t believe you left us hanging.
All those people with the same problem are waiting with baited breath lol, congrats on the fix and happy new year to you from South Wales.
Keep up the great content 👌
Best wishes to you both. Thank you for all your advise. Best wishes from 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I have Just discovered your channel and I am enjoying it greatly, it reminds me of when I was stationed in Germany many years ago in your wonderful country.
I loved all the people the food and of course the beer, good luck with your new project.
Thanks. Please check our videos every Sunday. Christian
Happy new year guys love the way you do things I have retired now at 76 years old now
Good thing to be retired. Happy new year. Christian

wish I lived not far from you, you know your stuff in RR, I live in Ireland thank you enjoy your videos
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. Will come in handy when my Disco TD5 has a problem. Happy New Year!
That sounds like a good solution. I never tried the welding method. Will follow your advice next time. Thanks. Christian
Another great episode. I just love your engineering mindset and methodology. Greetings from Australia, and I don’t own a Toyota either……

Snapped bolt removal tool set you should buy one have this snapped bolt out in minutes 👏 thank me later 👌 your doing awesome job love your videos happy new year 🎉
We have used that tool. We included only a fraction of the footage in this video. 👍🙋♀️
I can't believe you made us wait another week 😂 It is a holiday here in the UK tomorrow so how about an extra video just for us! Buying the Range Rover is a great move. Happy New Year to everyone!
Happy new year and love seeing this channel evolving again!
Hi. A quick guess that the air duct in the bonnet was getting blocked by the sound insulation material !!!
Holy crap. You are the second one who knows about this. Please still check back next week to see my science project approach. Christian
@Vera_and_Christian I have been a Landrover Specialist garage for over 30 years here in the UK and I find huge value in watching your channel....... Oh and for good reason... My wife drives a Toyota !!! Keep up the good work.
I know you are going to fix it like you have done all year on the other videos have a happy new year and thanks for all the videos
Another great video for a Toyota owner who knows nothing about Land Rovers.
Your methods of diagnostics are a good lesson.
Santa just bought me the Gedore Red socket set that you use. I have wanted one for years, even before seeing it used on your channel.

@@Vera_and_Christian Good advice, thanks for all the hard work in your videos. I learn every week.
Happy New year's to the LR community.
Yes and yes. Quite embarrassing for me. Christian
Hope you all have a happy NYE. Looking forward to watching this sober. Much love from AU.
Happy new year guys . Well done for finding the fault , I’ll be looking for a cheap Range Rover with a turbo fault now
Have a great new year both and thank you for the content and entertainment 👍🏻 🇬🇧
You are welcome.
Congratulations on some great detective / engineering work towards fixing your L405´s elusive problem ……Happy New Year 😊
brilliant as always, all the best for 2024 👍👍👌👌😊😊
Great you have Range Rover. Sure it will benefit me going forward with my L494 many thanks and happy new year from uk .
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video and it made me smile throughout it. So, was it the small hose on the main air box you looked for when you highlighted that often people introduce secondary faults when trying to fix the primary one? Was it off before and then you put it back on ......? Find out next year no doubt 😁👍hope you have a great new year
Everything was correct. Fault was not caused by the workshop. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christianso I watched the test drive again and now I see it 😂
PF-2024 Vera & Christian. Interesting video and looking forward to the next one and finding out what the problem really was. 👍🥂
Thanks.
Of course that only goes for the qualified DIY mechanic. 😅👍But there are more of those than you would think. 👌🙋♀️
Your like Sherlock Holmes Christian finding the fault.Happy new year to you both cant wait for next week.
Happy New Year!🎊
As earlier RR owner I enjoy your work 👍
Strive on!
Thanks for saving my morning.
Happy 2024 to you Christian and Vera, And happy birthday Vera "Coffee time" . Enjoying the Range Rover videos
Happyness, for 2024, Famielie Muth
🙏😃🙋♀️
Happy New Year and thanks for another great video !
Christian, did not follow, Vera's instructions by applying lube to the MAF after cleaning it. Then your BAS being in a stuck open position, the plausible reason I think could be that the actuator bent or lubrication within the shaft housing. We shall have to wait till next week to hear your verdict
Happy New Year to Vera & Christian, may it be a Healthy and prosperous year full of happy entertainment for us on the other side of the screen
Bed time has never been so much pleasure since I discovered your videos 😂
Looking forward to the next episode of broken bog rocket.
Happy New Year
I really like how you solve problems in your L405.
Christian, you lost a lot of weight.... looking healthier. Have a nice 2024 for you and Vera.
Been waiting for this video really interesting I now sod all about vehicles
Happy New Year. Your excellence surpasses all.
Der Range ist ja wirklich eine Content-Maschine par excellence! 😂
Guten Rutsch und alles Gute für 2024! 🥂
Great video. Happy New Year and look forward to the content in 2024.
