    The free repair to the sticking throttle body isn't filing down the butterfly, it's banging a self-tapper in from underneath - Tbody off - so that it protrudes in just enough to stop the butterfly from knee-locking into the stuck position. Make it so it just barely closes but can't kick-over into the locked position. It's only when it kicks past that last 1 or 2mm that the "stuck" condition arises. Bang it back on, run a position re-learn & save 500 quid. Or 6k in this case. :-)
    Won't work? Wanna bet? Oh yes it will. I file the tip of the screw flat once it's in, then adjust it so it acts as a physical stop. Bosh - issue resolved. Costs 10p - or 100 quid if you pay me to. Because.

  • @hughmarcus1
    @hughmarcus1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    He wants to get rid of that pronto. It says Gen2 on the pipe. What they've done with the gen2 TDV6 is utter madness. There's an electronic control on the oil pump that reduces oil pressure at idle to 'reduce emissions' for Euro 6. This on an engine where they've pushed the limit of the crankshaft. This owner has had multiple DPF problems, so you can guarantee oil dilution. It's a ticking time bomb. There's such a demand for rebuilt/replacement gen2 engines that they're making £8-10k on the black market. JLR can't even a delivery date for a short motor. BTW I've owned multiple LR models down the years.

There aren't many vehicles out there where you can tow a 3500Kg trailer with relative ease. A friend on mine recently had a 3.0L Discovery; he used it for towing a trailer stage. Other than the split inlet manifold (which he knew about when he bought it) it's not given him any bother. He only moved it on as he had 4 vehicles, and of the vehicles he had, it was the least practical.

Tbh the turbo was probably leaking oil and mixed with the egr carbon and caused this to stick. Its makes a right mess. Vws are bad for the throttle sticking due to carbon. There is no way all the people spending £6K to £12K on this repair went to a main dealership. They have been going to backstreet garages who think a fault code reader tells them what to change. You still need to know how the engines work as a fault code shows a condition. It just gives a clue.

    • @nia79nia

      It depends of how you drive. When the engine is cool the DPF loads up fast. So if you are only doing shorter trips you can gain 1-2 grams in 10 km. But when all temperatures are up and you are driving on highway you can get 1-2 grams in 60 km. So it really depends on how you drive these cars.
