Welcome back Kaki! Sounds like a wonderful trip. I'm a little anxious about traveling. I'll probably be having my surgery in Jan/Feb of 2024 and we have a cruise scheduled in May of 2024. Do you have any hints? I bet that dumping was super scary! Glad you felt better fairly fast...although I'm sure it didn't feel like it. :-)
I can understand your anxiety- I was anxious too! I think my biggest tip would be to stay with your plan while you are gone and stick to foods that you have tried and tolerated before. If you do that I think everything will go well and you will have a blast!! Congratulations on your upcoming journey- it is the best decision that I ever made for myself.
Welcome home, Kaki! Loved your video and hearing about your NSV's. I bet it's amazing to feel amazing. Glad your dumping episode was brief (though I'm sure it didn't feel like it!). Loved seeing all the pics of your meals and stories, too. Looking forward to Wednesday's video.
You are a wonderful inspiration. Thank you for all that you share with us. I followed my instincts and changed surgeons. I really disliked the first one. I love the new one. I only have to lose 0.2 pounds more and then the ball gets rolling and he’ll get my surgery scheduled! I’m ready for the amazing tool. Soon!
Welcome home Kaki ! Im so glad you had a wonderful time and only got a bit sick one evening while you were at your hotel. As someone who is just 6 weeks post op, I worry all the time about "how will this new food react with me". I would HATE if I suddenly had to puke or have diarrhea or a full blown "dumping incident" in front of people. ugh. Ive been lucky, like you, to have tolerated well, every single thing I have eaten so far. Im still dealing with no restriction or feeling of satiety despite eating soft/on the brink of regular diet foods. So that in of itself is an issue that Im aware of, but otherwise Ive not had trouble......YET. lol
Hey there- glad that you have tolerated everything so far. I have had two full-blown dumping incidents since surgery, and both involved sugar. Lesson learned!! I hope the restriction becomes more pronounced when you transition to regular foods!
Thanks! I do use collagen powder sometimes in drinks, but it is not a complete protein, so it does not provide all that it needs to be counted towards your protein goals. The only complete proteins in powders are whey and soy based. But I do think collagen does provide some benefits towards your skin and joint health.
No, no issues with fat although I do try to go with lower fat choices. The only times I have ever had dumping involved sugar but not in typical things like sweets. Early on, like in the first month, I had an episode with pickle relish in tuna and then this with the wine. Lesson learned!

Love these!
Do you think collagen protein powder is better than whey due to the effects on skin?

Do you have issues with fat? Like mayo on a chicken salad?
