      Hey Steve, will you be reviewing any 3080ti partner boards? I'd rather wait for your comparisons before buying any, but if you don't plan on doing them it'd be nice to know so I don't miss any opportunities to try and get one in the meantime. Cheers!

    That's not a ghost finder, that's the 30 Series Wishbone. You take one end, and your friend takes the other end, you both pull as hard as you can until it breaks. The person who gets the smaller piece doesn't get a card, the person who gets the larger piece, also doesn't get a card because all the inventory is bought by bots before end users can buy them.

    You should do a tear-down of the partner models and maybe do a BOM breakdown to estimate how much profit (e.g. scalping) they are doing. There is no way a manufacturer overclocked 3080 Ti should cost $2k.

  • @silverfalcon068
    @silverfalcon068 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I fully agree that the price hike isn't warranted at all. But at the same time this is the only card I managed to buy at MSRP to upgrade from my 2080. I'd rather buy an overpriced card at MSRP than pay $2000 to a low life scalper for a marginally "worse" card. Thanks for the video though. I needed this to determine whether I could use a 3080 waterblock on my Ti

  • @ShayLC
    @ShayLC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The most significant difference is that on the original 3080, the 8 was upside-down, which was corrected on the TI.
    The 2nd most significant difference, and also the least significant difference, is the MSRP.

    The first retail prices for board partner 3080Ties are up, ranging from €2299 (Inno3D) to €2699 (MSI). This was never going to be an affordable or bang-for-buck GPU. But bear in mind that the 6900XT is up to €400 cheaper than the cheapest 3080Tie (and less power hungry). If you're silly enough to buy any GPU at all in this market, let alone these top tier ones, I wouldn't overlook AMD.

      @AC-io8qs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Charles-vd3vc It's like a first line of defense. GN has the equipment to test claims and various marketing hoopla, and those tests in many cases are legally defensible, like with the H1 case. GN simply provides the valid info, such as the test results for this card, and if the problem is grotesque enough (say if this card actually performed worse than a standard 3080) then that type of inflammatory information would circulate quickly and cause outcry against Nvidia who would then be forced to explain themselves at the very least.

    • @Charles-vd3vc
      @Charles-vd3vc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AC-io8qs Yeah but that only works if the product is actually inferior. This video doesn't display that and with a market starved of GPU's they could have made this product worse than the 3080 charged more, and still sold every single one. People would be angry, but they still would have purchased it.
      A good example is pre-orders. People keep getting burned by pre-orders and yet they still pre-order.... and those people can still get the product at launch.

    The MSRP was already high, but almost every third party 3080Ti comes at 2000+€ (~2400$), this is getting ridiculous, even an RTX 3070 wil be at least 850€(~1000$). You basically have to pay the price of a full gaming PC to just get a high-end card (and even this is debatable seeing how many cards are above the 3070, it would almost be considered in the middle at this point).
    The worst is seeing 3080Ti already on sale on ebay SECONDS after the launch, from people trying to pass as good guys posting things like "I managed to get a custom after already buying a FE, so I'm selling the FE", but OOPS, the price went from 1200$ to 1800$....

We shouldnt be complaining about it not being $1000 but rather about not being ~$700 as we're just allowing GPU makers to be more greedy when things settle down. Taking a good guess that 4080Ti/5080Ti gonna be $1000 rather then $700 MSRP if this is how everyone keeps reacting.

      The problem is lack of competition and the general need for a GPU if you want a rig. We need to buy "something" and therefore can´t just vote with our wallet. AMD is only now with FSR in the real competitor ranks. It is just those times we are in, that we see no fruitition from that.
