All of Denmark to date has gotten like three hundred 3080s and they have like 8900 pre-orders still unfulfilled. nVidia is stupid as hell for not making more of these cards. I don't care what "historic launches" were like - you make the best generational performance leap in over a decade and couple that with a pandemic where every tech worker is stuck at home and you get yourself easily tenfold demand of the 2000 series. Probably more. When microcenters are getting 12 cards but had a line up of 200 people there's a fucking problem and I don't care if Jensen wants to call it a "demand problem, not a supply problem" it's a goddamn supply problem. @@Weaver_Games think nvidia got fucked royally by samsung and everyone bashes nvidia for it. Despite getting fucked, these cards saw 10x the demand, and that's how we got here

@@SpicyEvo if you have a 2060 or below I can see it being worthwhile. I guess the problem is 2060S and above are still quite new and 2070S and above are more expensive than this card. @@NoSwitchyt I think that's also reflecting in the viewership for all the 3070 reviews I'm seeing in my subscription feed. They're way lower than the 3080 was first day on every channel i'm seeing. nVidia had a chance and massive hype but failed to deliver cause they thought stocking 1000 GPUs was a lot when a million people globally wanted them. This is AMD's battle to win with big navi cause, regardless of theoretical performance, if you can actually buy a navi GPU then it doesn't matter what nVidia can do on paper if they never have any supply.
Linus review: Go buy this now, its not great but its ok. GN Review: Don't buy this unless you need it, and don't add to the already stupid scalping and over-consumerism, marketing BS
I love that you're not just like, "Wow! Buy this now!" like some others. I do want to experience ray tracing in all its glory when CyberPunk releases so I will have to get off the 10 series sometime soon.
People were laughing at Quake 2 and Minecraft but realistically games like that are the only viable options for now. Nvidia should have pushed the "relive your favorite classics in a new light" angle rather than trying to shoehorn raytracing onto already computationally intensive modern titles. The net effect for the average customer would be paying a lot of money for a sidegrade plus incrementally more realistic reflections that are honestly hard to notice, assuming they're moving from something like a 960 to a 2060 with RTX on. DLSS is looking like a winner but it took so long to get going that it nearly skipped the 20-series product cycle.
Steve, I have a GTX 980 reference card that I overclocked and is surprisingly not melting itself to death and still holds up decently @1080p! I always think about what you say on e-waste when I look at newer GPUs. This year will probably be the last one for the card because it's a fucking airplane, but I'm happy I held on to it until I felt a real and logical reason to upgrade. Sometimes it's hard to not get carried away by the moment and buy something that you think you need even tho it's not entirely true. Thanks for keeping it real.
6 months from now they'll come out with the Super series at the same price so I'll take my time with a purchase and maybe check out the AMD benchmarks in the meantime as well
Man, I just realized something. I really wish I could enjoy your content, but it's like one long run-on sentence. I'm pretty sure if you didn't have to breathe you would never pause. I hope this doesn't sound rude, because that's not how I mean it. I feel like it's something you might think about in the future though.
I see what Nvidia did. So you were suppose to release the review a day before launch which is after AMD's announcement but they let you drop it a day earlier which is before the announcement so the made a AMD blocking sandwich to try and draw some attention from them. Nvidia should focus on their supply instead.
Nvidia's entire 30xx series was rushed just to try to beat AMD. That's why there are no cards available. It's a pathetic ploy by a company that leads as firmly in the video card industry as Nvidia does, but I guess they've seen AMD kicking Intel's ass for the last two+ years and got really scared.

@@timno9804 I think the demand at this point is a little over estimated. 150k sounds about right when most major chains are reporting about 2000 on their waiting lists. And that is for about 20 odd retailers if i counted right.
@@timno9804 If they manage to get them out the door. Llately AMD has been proving they are a significantly better CPU company. They need to have something that can soundly beat the 3070 at a lower price (with solid drivers) in order for people to take it seriously. If its anything less than that, then it will probably whimper out like Radeon VII and the 5700XT did. And that would be a real shame. They have not had a really solid winner since the 5870 and they really need to fire on all cylinders to pull off some market again. And I have my doubts sadly. And this is coming form a long time AMD/ATI fanboy. I decided on the 5700XT earlier this year and I have no regrets with it. It has been a great card with no driver issues in my case, but i really only got it because I wanted an all AMD build again after so many years. Not because its price was compelling. RDNA 2 better knock it out of the park. Ok maybe the 7970 arguably, but kepler was a pretty strong product at the time.
We are gonna need benchmarks of time of launch verses median time to actually acquire one of these cards. I've never seen a company mis-manage hype so bad. Hype is a tool to make people stop thinking rationally. People always want the new "shiny", and if you let them think about it, they might realize they don't really need the new "shiny" and buy something else entirely. Basic stuff here NVIDIA.

Exactly! Just do it with Alyx already..
Agreed. With the high resolutions VRAM should also become more apparant.
I believe they've discussed it before. Can't remember the specific video. But the general answer was that they've experimented with it, and determined it was way too much hassle for what it's worth. Because let's face it, we VR users represent a minuscule portion of his audience.

Availability aside. Something that is better than the 2080 super which was and is 800+ dollars and within margin of error of a 2080ti at 1200+ dollars for just 500 bucks isn’t impressive? Just have to wait until and announces theirs tomorrow then.
@@SpicyEvo if you have a 2060 or below I can see it being worthwhile. I guess the problem is 2060S and above are still quite new and 2070S and above are more expensive than this card. So as an Nvidia owner you get bitten by the huge uplift in Turing prices. I guess at 1080p it's a pointless upgrade if you have a 2060 or higher. At 1440p or 4K it becomes a maybe depending on what you want to play and what visual goodies you want.
@@NoSwitchyt I think that's also reflecting in the viewership for all the 3070 reviews I'm seeing in my subscription feed.

If its anything less than that, then it will probably whimper out like Radeon VII and the 5700XT did. And that would be a real shame.
