The cap on the Mobil 1 side came off a split second sooner than the Super Tech side. I've used Super Tech full synthetic oil since it came out back in 2000. Almost 23 years of trouble free miles on 7 vehicles and not a single oil related issue and a lot of money saved over Mobil 1.

This is the second video of yours I've seen where you have compared super tech full synthetic with Mobil 1 full synthetic annual protection which has a much stronger additive package than basic Mobil 1 full synthetic.
If you're going to do these tests, then compare competing oils.
The super tech is designed to be changed every 10,000 miles
The annual protection is designed to be changed every 20,000 miles
I'm actually starting to get a little bit suspicious of your intention here, as I cannot imagine how someone who goes to this much trouble to test oils would not understand this.

    • @bobell68
      @bobell68 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So, that means that the Mobil 1 should have done much better than the Supertech and it didn’t. Based on this test, Supertech appears to be a great oil.

      @@bobell68 not necessarily.
I'm not watching the video again and it was too long ago for me to remember if these oils were tested for longevity, but the point is relevant that you are comparing two different oils for two different purposes.

Doesn't Mobile 1 come in different formulas. I mean if there is a lower prices Mobil 1 that fits between the cost of Super Tech and Mobil 1 Annual Protection, it would have been better to include it in thic comparison.
Mobil 1 Extended Performance which is less expensive than Mobil 1Annual Protection should have been included in this test to see how Supertech would fair against it.

It may not be the best oil out there but I think its the best oil out there for the money.
I had always run Motorcraft 5w20 Blend oil in my Fords until I saw the new Walmart full synthetic high mileage oil test results. I think this oil is today what the Motorcraft oil was when it came out way back when. One of my Fords has 298K miles on it and it does use a little oil in between changes, now it uses way less on the Walmart oil and its cheaper than Motorcraft. The oil technology has come a long way in the past 20 years. It is great that this oil is very affordable and readily available. Good Test!

    • @MrJerry8159
      @MrJerry8159 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I agree the best for the money but I would also add that looking at many tests, if it is inferior to Mobile 1 or Red Line etc it's not by much. And it is FAR better than any conventional oil today as well as any oil from the past as oils have vastly improved. Most any motor can last up to 200K plus but it's the nickel and dime stuff that often causes people to ditch their cars. Engines for the most part are very reliable especially when using todays modern oils and filters.

Does Mobil 1 really win though? A single data point for each doesn't account for other factors, like variation in your bearings etc. Most likely if you did the sampling in triplicate (minimally) you'd find no statistical difference...especially with a difference that small. You don't know the variation from test to test within the same oil, so you cannot say with any certainty from your single data point test which oil actually wins. You'd also have to include more than one source of the same oil too to properly quantify that.

I wouldn't put synthetic oil in and see if it leaks after driving about 1000 miles. The problem with putting in synthetic oil after using conventional oil for so many miles on a car or truck is this, synthetic oil is more uniform in molecules than conventional and flows better. It might slip through cracks easier than conventional oil, so your vehicle might start leaking oil. If it does, go back to conventional oil. DO NOT PUT A THICKER. SYNTHETIC OIL. USE THE OIL GRADE THAT THE VEHICLE OIL CAP SAYS TO USE. IF IT SAYS 5W30, USE IT. DON'T USE 5W40 OR 10W 40.

Idk if they say this so they can win a contest on how cheap it is to maintenance a car??
Or is this a ploy to better enforce planned obsolescence??
(I’m open minded) if the 10k oil change is a legit thing can a real master tech / oil lab technician please tell me HOW??
I change the oil on my scion XD (essentially a 1.8lt Corolla) every 3-4thousand miles ,depending on how dirty it is

Guys, you have to take these online tests with a grain of salt any test can be rigged. That said assuming this is a honest test looks to be very close, as expected. I use Wallmart synthetic yes to save money and I change every 3000 miles, not 5000 or 7500. Also, Wallmart brands are made by national brands and they must meet the same industry standards, and Wallmart full synthetic is certainly better than any conventional oil.

I have a weird question, FOR YEARS I’ve been doing this experiment!! (Not nearly as exact/precise as these test 😛)
    Test done on 4-5diff
    (88-91) civic Crx D15
All with 175k~250k on the engine
Test ALSO done on 3diff First gen Toyota/Scion xB ?1zz? it’s the gutless 1.5liter
    These all had 100k+ miles
I almost always run supertech 10-30 synthetic
& it’s does great ,not much oil usage (unless it’s my Honda with 290kmiles)
OK HERES THE WEIRD part that I simply do NOT understand
Maybe once a year I’ll use mobil1 synthetic & I HAVE NO CLUE as to why but when I’ve gone approx 800-1000miles I’ll have used about ½ sometimes even ¾ of a quart
    Mind you these test subjects don’t smoke , don’t leak *much … so I don’t understand 🤷
    My thinking is bi-polar 😂
    Half of me thinks
“we’ll.. ok… 10-30 viscosity is …. Well….. 10fricken30!! ,it makes no sense that mobile should (I’m guessing) slip passed the rings anymore than supertech”
The other ½ of me thinks
“Ok ok.. I get it the mobile one is more sophisticated & they designed it to get in small tight tolerances that Walmart oil can’t reach & maaayyybee my missing oil is slipping passed the rings?? 🤷
I can be the only dude to recognize this …. I KNOW this happens , I’d just like to understand WHY!!
**side note** I’ll still run mobil1 I just keep a closer eye on it & ohhhhhh one time I tried Mobil1 5w-20 CrX with 200k miles & 🤯 wow … it poured like water
The valves sounded like rods knocking in a small block
L😀L luckily I was juuuuust low enough to add approx ⅓bottle if Lucas & that brought the viscosity up enough to quite the valve train**
Sorry to be long winded , please help me understand why my lil jappers will USE mobil1 & not superTech
    👋Thanks guys✌️
