Thanks for a very useful review. As someone who purchased a Lucid Air Pure RWD 6 weeks ago my experience is similar to yours. Beautiful quality car and the best drive train on the planet. But the software has a few rough edges. I am grateful for the Lucid Owner Forum where I get good advice. I really like that it has a data ready USB-c port where i have plugged in my usb stick with my music library. Much better fidelity than any other approach. Tesla removed the data ready USB port from Model Ys about 3 years ago (?) so the last Model Y i had could not play my usb stick!! I do like the way the Lucid handles. Cant wait for the release of Gravity next month. and am happy that highly respected auto engineer Cory Steuben is in the charge of the mid-sized program. I should add that my final price was over $5k less than the list price. So, my car is truly an 'econo-car'. Just a little more expensive than a Kia EV.
I was able to lease my 2023 Lucid Air Pure AWD for $1000 down and $315/month! My wife and I battle over who gets to drive it since it’s so fun! The new software updates have drastically improved the car too!
Greetings from a Lucid driver in Europe! I really enjoyed your video and I completely agree with your criticism. The software definitely needs further development - unfortunately we haven't received any new updates here in Europe for months. Nevertheless, I enjoy every kilometer I drive in this car. It's definitely a real eye-catcher!
Madly in love with this car! Beats EVERYTHING else I've seen! However, I am very impressed by NEVS EMILY GT! but they probably can't manage to make an interior like Lucid air.
Fair review, I would like to point out a misconception though. Nobody offers a self-driving system for purchase yet, and self driving isn't necessarily relegated to EV's only.
I’ve had a Genesis GV60 for 8 months and I’ve driven it over 9,000 miles! You should take your Lucid on the road 😅 The drive up to Morro Bay is nice, you should be able to make it without stopping and there’s a nice EA station there. I love my GV60 and I’ve had none of the frustrations you describe. Not quite the range your Lucid has but more range than my bladder has, so I’m good. You should check out the GV60 when your lease is up.
Nice review and pretty much is in line with my Lucid Air Pure experience. The Gravity looks very nice but I am also looking forward to the smaller Earth model in a couple of years.
2nd Best car i have ever owned. Only 2nd to my GT4 lol. But no Joke. This car is the Perfect everyday car. Comfort handling power and performance. Nothing comes close. That 670 hp per motor is limited by the batter size.
Great video. I have had my Lucid the exact same amount of time and could not agree more about the software issues. It’s got to get better or it will never match up to Tesla. I’ve had three Teslas and the ride quality of each sucked, but the tech blows away Lucid. Time will tell if the software improves overall once the Gravity is released.
Might buy one of these used in a few years if Lucid is still operating as a company. Their Gravity pre-orders are open now and I think there will be a lot of Lucid Airs on the used market when they actually start delivering the Gravity. I definitely would not lease or buy new, yet, though. Just throwing away money IMO.
Lease is really good. I bought mine almost 100k build. Went down to 92K in stock. So i got 5k off. Plus 7.5k air credit and 7.5 k lease deal. I put 1k for deposit. 18 months 15k miles. After that i can buy it for 62K with 15k miles. 😂
Yeah, it looks gorgeous, yeah it's fast, yeah it's probably sturdy and quality wise, probably even better than a tesla but it's too expensive. Very few people can afford it.
I got a 2024 Pure with no options except the $800 Fathom Blue paint for $483/mo. It also comes with free charging from Electrify America for the first year. I drive about 10k miles/yr. Savings over gas of $150/mo making it $333/mo. My insurance went up $50/yr though. The lease deal makes this an incredible deal for a new luxury car. I averaged 4.2 miles/kWh for the 4k miles I put on it so far at about $0.012/mi in fuel costs between free fast charging and level 2 at home.
I’m not a big “car technology” person, as much I find the “beta testing” thing with car software a bit revolting, Lucid is a new company, and I think I can forgive them to a degree on still trying to figure some stuff out
I don't like to think in dollars per month. What is the out-the-door price on one of these? I'm sure I'm stuck in the past a bit, but $700 per month seems like a lot of money for a car.
Depends. I had an $800 monthly payment on a $50k car with a 3 yr loan back in 2012. Try to find anything close to something similar to the Lucid Air, and you won't likely find a better deal.
@@donwilber1628 $800 * 36 months = 28,800. So, maybe you have a lease for that payment, but you couldn't have paid off the car. And, based on that, $700 lease payment does make sense.
Why is a EV at this price point having these deficiencies? WTF???! I got an Ariya Evolv+ E4orce and EV6 GT and never had any such problems and both have 360 view cameras some of semi-self driving stay in the lane whatevers and they all just, and they work fine with android auto (and supposedly both support crApple craplay) and never had an issue using it with my android phones, and both EVs combined would cost less than 1 stupid Lucid.
The constant "howling noise" from the electric motor is a no go for me. You can hear it throughout the whole video and i honestly think it would annoy the hell out of me.
You didn't mention the charging experience. I would think EVgo and Electrify America are sh!t shows - that's what everyone else has said. I don't recall Lucid signing onto the Tesla charging standard. That said the car is fine but I personally don't think they did a good job on the look. It looks frumpy. It doesn't look sporty, futuristic or fast. They won't be making a profit for a long, long time and only still exist because of Saudi Arabian oil money.
Over the past year I’ve had no problems with EA or EVgo in my Genesis GV60. I’ve taken several fairly long road trips. I’m not saying others aren’t having problems but it’s not as bad as some people say. Lucid did sign up for Supercharger access, it should be available soon. However, because Tesla doesn’t fully support 800v cars, the charging speeds will be limited at Supercharger stations.
I think i prefer my VW ID 4 every day over any of lucids cars. At the end of the day i want a reliable car - not a bleeding edge smartphone. Things like the bluetooth key just shows me, that such a car isn't suitable for a familiy car that WILL be abused in some way
You're suggesting a VW ID4 is reliable? The internet doesn't agree. Every review I've watched or read has said it's no more than a boring soulless appliance even on its best day. Almost hysterically funny that you're equating one of the cheapest EV on the market with the most expensive.
@morstyrannis1951 that is bullshit. Yes people in reviews are biased too, but VW have been working reliable for decades for my family - even being passed on. The VW ID 4 doesn't have high tech software or whatever but it works and they have more experience than most other car companies out there. However i want a car build in the EU and not from wherever, because i want a car that works after over 10 years of abuse and being manufactured near where i live

I've test driven many Evs including Tesla S and Taycan but nothing can be even compared to Lucid Air it's an amazing car.

It’s always a good day when you get the notification from the middle lane.
Agreed
@AppleTrack awww you guys
Apple products brought me to Luke. Car talk from Luke is the real meat and potatoes. Keep it up!
Appreciate it! Glad you enjoy :)
That's a good review. I'll have to consider them when looking for my next car.

Also what do insurance costs look like?

Lucid is meant for driving . My two dodges do the glitch a lot . The lucid has engineering way beyond Tesla . I’ll take the air for 70k

My Avg is 3.6 mi/kwh. I got almost 4.6 mi/kwh on my East caost road trip. Touring also weigh less and feels much more agile than GT

I thought this was someone else and I started thinking he sounds like Luke Miani 😭

Thank you for saying “one fourteenth the size” instead of 14x smaller, which is illogical.
70k is a very good price, and you get 420 mile range!

this color looks good…⚡️⚡️…WOW
I'm curious how you feel about the glass roof. I'd be concerned having one here in the south.
the what blockers? Lmfaoooo; he said it with a straight face! 😭😭
You'll hear the term "peasant blockers" from other reviewers as well. It's not new.

I've had really bad wind noise the driver side pillar. Ruins the whole driving experience
the best ev is the Ioniq 5 N to me but i do think the lucid air is the most luxurious and the most classy other then the Cadillac Celestiq

Apparently it has been addressed according to another video reviewer showing a 2025 model.
It isn't there on my rwd pure, but yeah it was a little annoying on the awd GT loaner I had

My neighbor has an EQS. Looks like a Prius
This car is nowhere comparable to Tesla.

Lucid Air Turing. TH-cam money is good eh
You’re gonna hate when they go bankrupt. Let’s see which ends first, your lease or Lucid.
Considering that the Saudis just put $1.5B into the company a couple months ago, I wouldn't hold my breath on them going bankrupt.
