Back in the 90s-early 00s, a family member worked at a movie theater. After work, when they were done cleaning up but before the manager and everyone left, they'd all get together and plug consoles into the projector and play games on the big screen. The quality was really great, and watching cut scenes from stuff like FF7 and FF8 among others played like that blew my mind. When the theater closed for good, the company in charge of it had no plans on transferring the projectors to another and they had to "Damage them out" so nobody could run off with them. The manager and the employees played one last time, including some family and friends (myself included) before the manager said okay, lets get out of here. They proceeded to absolutely wreck the projectors and toss them into the construction trailer for disposal. Some of us were crying.
That reminded me of the IT departments at some of the schools I attended. My guess is that the management were primarily financial people who didn't want to bother with liquidators or maybe e-waste recycling services weren't really known at the time. Edit: Them asking for their tech to be destroyed also sounds suggestive to me of a tax loophole exploit by writing off the projectors in their accounting.

the answer is.. dont (if you actually want the good ones). historically, the black friday deal tvs are really just the low end/old models with different skus and model numbers/refreshes. not saying deals cant be found if you look hard enough, but the "mass hysteria" deals usually arent as great as they seem.

@@xinixini1826 But why would you not take them yourself somewhere else? If they were destroyed anyway, why not at least take the projector?
That reminded me of the IT departments at some of the schools I attended. My guess is that the management were primarily financial people who didn't want to bother with liquidators or maybe e-waste recycling services weren't really known at the time.
Edit: Them asking for their tech to be destroyed also sounds suggestive to me of a tax loophole exploit by writing off the projectors in their accounting.
I don't know how it works but with lesser equipment some stuff you pay the fee until the machine is scrapped. My previous employer had to with our weaving machines. Some of them were "scrapped" because it just seemed ridiculous to paying on machines that were so old.
@@kbhasi I have heard many stories of IT departments that are supposed to trash things but someone walks off with it when the manager is conveniently not looking and no one knows the difference. Shame they couldn't pull that off here but I guess that's how it goes sometimes
@@TobyCowles This, yes. Even after we all left the building, the CCTV's were still running right up to the point just before the building was demolished. IF ANY OF US had stolen anything that was to be disposed of anyways, we'd have been arrested. Or have some other legal action taken against us. With the manager in view of such a thing happening, he would also have been dragged into it, as well as the other employees.

After the recent DRASTIC! Transformation Of Nikocado Avocado I won't be surprised even if linus becomes pregnant 😂
Anything crazy can happen in TH-cam these days😂
Will you be able to connect four of that thing to make one giant screen without the border lines across the screen?
The Labs backdrop when talking about their results was super cool, keep doing that please!
that 10k nit moment was the a great opportunity for an over 9000 reading reference
21:00 They missed the opportunity to flashbang themselves to test the brightness again!😅
This type of TV probably won't even fit into my Japanese apartment. lol
Linus not-so-subtly letting any would-be stalkers or home invaders know that he keeps that thing on him.
Man! $20,000?! I was today years old when you could trade your TV in for a truck and be ripped off! 🤣
@Skymack351 well you could probably trade this tv for a clapped 2020 economy car su not much has changed
The highest end TVs on the bleeding edge have always cost that much or more
I still remember when a 42 inch plasma TV cost like 15,000 dollars or something.
Maybe one day I can pick this up at Walmart on a Black Friday sale under 1 grand 😂😂
There are TVs that cost way more than that.
0:29 "I don't know. Somewhere in the world." I wish you the best of luck defending that, with the cold hard fact that the internet always remembers. XD
So Linus I use backlight Strobing on my computer monitor but I always use it in concert with the program lossless scaling.
With that program my LCD is running at 180 frames per second and never dropping, so the flicker that you would normally get from engaging BFI or backlight strobe is not a problem and at that really high refresh rate because of stroboscopic you don't notice interpolation artifacts very much

"Why does everyone at work know this?" Have you seen who you hire? 😂
To get ready for black Friday, I would love to see a series of tech buyers guides, like how to buy a cheap TV, etc.
the answer is.. dont (if you actually want the good ones). historically, the black friday deal tvs are really just the low end/old models with different skus and model numbers/refreshes. not saying deals cant be found if you look hard enough, but the "mass hysteria" deals usually arent as great as they seem.
@NihilsticFeeling the Idea would be a general buyers guide, like what dkes all of the marketing jargon mean and what to look out for.
@@arturskovrigo3915 there are tons of tv buying guides out there already. they dont change for black friday. the only advice specific to black friday, is that most of the deals arent really great deals.
Step 1: Never buy Hisense...
What movie are they watching for performance check??
It's probably a Disney movie but I want to know its name
I literally saw it yesterday in a Shanghai shop, and it's absolutely breathtaking! It genuinely feels next level.

Linus Cat Tips video where Linus makes a cat fortress out of that cardboard?
the TV would count as a flared base if it was screwed in to it
The LotR scene was so realistic it actually looked like someone being filmed for a movie

We should stop saying things like "it's got 40k dimming zones" and start saying things like "it's backlight is slightly exceeding 144p resolution"

I have to say, LTT videos have really improved over the past 6 months. They have been a fair bit more entertaining. I used to watch every video, then they started getting a bit boring, which surprise surprise, was also around the time everyone seemed a bit burnt out, then Linus made that cringey apology-esque Gamers Nexus response video. It is nice to see that the changes were actually good and material.
13:48 flashbang out

You know, Hisense makes some pretty good TVs. My girlfriend and I just bought a 4k 50" Hisense for our living room and I've been impressed with the picture quality and how well it upscales lower resolution content (one of the selling points was the inclusion of dedicated AI upscaling). Even things in our media library that are 480p SD content look not half bad on the thing. We didn't break the bank either and managed to spend almost exactly $500 on that and a decent soundbar+subwoofer setup.
im surprised how good they are. i got a 55A7KQ few weeks ago and its great. Upscaling is wild though. I can play 1080p videos or games and it will still look decent
@@itsme123126 Ours' is the 50A68N, and it's just a really solid entry-mid level TV, not bad for $350 Canadian Dollars. It's definitely an upgrade over the kinda shitty 50" 1080p TV my former roommate owned and took with him when he moved out for a job. And it's definitely easier to use my Plex server with it than the janky chromecast set up I had gotten used to. Paired with a pretty decent (to my ears) Creative soundbar + subwoofer, we are very happy with it.
I've had my 65U7K for about a year now. And it has been an amazing TV. I've never had a TV that looked so good and at the time it was on sale so I picked it up for about $750.
Only thing was at the time I was worried cause I had heard that the U7K panels were hit or miss for how well they looked out of the box. So ymmv if you go get one.
Hisense has been awesome for already over 10 years. Now that they are popular they are getting pricier but when they were breaking into the market the cost/quality ratio was a lot better than other brands.
Your girlfriend hates your guts bruhf

How do you feel about calibrating the TV screen?
Can a cheap TV perform as well as an expensive one?

That is a suprisingly good shotgun. a mossberg with a shellholder, gohst ring sights and a magpull stock might be one of the best pumpguns out there
I've never come across a bad shotgun really, lol even the cheap ones are still good. I used a mossberg for hunting and all in it was like 280 for a scope, turkey barrel with chokes, and a rifled slug barrel.
