    You went to right place to find Malay(Melayu) foods like Nasi Lemak, Kampung Baru is the hotspot for Malay in KL. It will become more alive during evening n night tho.

    I tried Nasi Lemak Wanjo last month and it was not the way I’d imagined after watching many tourists went there because the sambal was too liquidised (cair) and the lauk ( accompanying dishes) just so so. Almost devoid the taste of the actual nasi lemak.
    Since Wanjo has somehow managed to be famous…I urge the owner to relook into their nasi lemak…the rice itself no taste of Santan, the sambal should thicker, well balanced of sour, spicy, sweet and salt. The day I went there was no fried peanuts. From this video…there are still no peanuts. Peanuts a must for a traditional Nasi Lemak!
    Come on guys…you are our Nasi Lemak ambassador to tourists…please do justice to the dish.

      The best Nasi lemak is at Village Park at Uptown Damansara. The place is always pack. The rice is much better than Wanjo strong taste of coconut milk n the sambal is not too sweet.

      It depends on what you compare it to. As a KL born native I kind of like Wanjo if that's the type of nasi lemak I'm looking for. Wanjo is comparible to Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa which is around the same place. It's the type of nasi lemak that you go for the lauk (side dishes) instead of the nasi. Growing up in the 80s the two big ones are nasi lemak Tanglin at Bukit Aman and Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa at Kampung Baru. Wanjo mainly compete with Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa. Not the old-school, plain and simple nasi lemak bungkus. So they don't focus on the rice and sambal but the lauk.

    • @KuzaChannel
      @KuzaChannel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@slebetman It sells Nasi Lemak and absolutely that they are selling…not the lauk per ser so it is only fair if they make an effort to effing cook a proper Nasi Lemak that at least has a rich flavour of Pandan and Coconut milk. Devoid of at least these two main ingredients then they have got to take down the "offering" of Nasi Lemak.
      Instead replace them with Nasi Campur.

    Texas Fried Chicken in America is called Church's Texas Chicken; not sure if that rings a bell, but when they came to Malaysia they removed Church from the name given that it is a Muslim country.
    Also the Merdeka skyscraper is the second tallest building in the world after the Burj Khalifa hence why it looks so massive haha. Without the Spire i.e. to the roof only, it ranks fourth.

    Texas chicken is actually Church's Chicken in USA. But the literal meaning of church might a bit sensitive to the muslim customer (60% population). Hence they renaming to Texas Chicken in Malaysia.

  • @slebetman
    @slebetman 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Texas Chicken is called Church's in the US. They rebranded it here by removing "Church's" from "Church's Texas Chicken" probably to avoid any controversy and to have a wider appeal.

    U should try a basic Nasi Lemak first... a basic Nasi Lemak in its original form usually consist of fried anchovies, fried peanuts, boiled chicken egg, slices of cucumber, rice cooked in coconut milk and the sambal (gravy).... other than these basic components - is Nasi Lemak with extras....

    the main part of Nasi Lemah is the rice, then its sambal... traditionally served in a banana leaf with rice, sambal, boiled egg, anchovies, cucumber and peanuts. it's just that modern times have been improvised by adding various types of side dishes such as chicken, meat, fried fish / rendang / masak merah etc... various types of vegetables, more.

    In Malaysia, you'll need to mix your drinks thoroughly in order to optimize taste and flavors. The ginger tea you drank should have been mixed as the bottom part is actually condensed milk and not ginger, the ginger you tasted was actually "liquid-fied" and mixed with the tea.

    "Don't go to wanjo, don't go to wanjo, don't go to wanjo" ... F*ck, you went to wanjo. Wanjo is very very overrated, they used to be the shit but after all those exposure, well you know... Just around the corner from Wanjo, is a humble stall called Nasi Lemak Kak Chuk, now kak chuk as the owner is called, she serves delicious, excellent nasi lemak! Next time you're here in Malaysia, i hope you get the privilege to dine at Kak Chuk's humble stall. The little gems to be found around KL.

    I love my nasi lemak as any Malaysians would, but personally my heart dies a little everytime I see tourists/traveller's vlogging about their search for the best nasi lemak.. And all of them ends up at this overrated place. Unpopular (and personal) opinion but the essence of nasi lemak is just totally missing at this place (the rice and the sambal are truly bland).. what it is, though, is a place for a glorified nasi campur with all the many side dishes, I will give them that. I said what I said, and I sincerely hope you will find a much much better nasi lemak during your visit here - just a simple but tasty nasi lemak. This, unfortunately, was not it.

      personally I would go for Nasi Lemak Village Park, Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu, Nasi Lemak Tanglin, Nasi lemak Antarabangsa or even from any small roadside stalls like the ones suggested by other viewers here (like Nasi Lemak Kak Chuk). Their primary focus would be the rice itself and the sambal, as it should be - instead of the side dishes IMO. If you would like to explore the array of side dishes, you're better off looking for a nasi campur (mixed rice) which can be found almost everywhere during lunch hour.

FYI a lot of Malaysians love it when it rains as rain provides refuge from the unbearable Tropical heat..Wanjo is a good introductory Nasi Lemak option for people who wanna try it for the first time..However, you should also try Nasi Lemak from the road side sellers that offer more scrumptious dishes to be paired with the coconut rice..YUM...anyway...if you see comments from our Indonesian brothers just disregard them and enjoy Malaysia your own way ok!...Indonesia is a beautiful country ..but sometimes when their netizens comment on videos showcasing Malaysia, they can be irritating and infuriating too😂😂😂

Some I saw taking the salted fish n eating it as if its an entre … man..!! Sushi is from Indonesia too. And pizza too. Indonesia invented every food in this world.

    Nasi Lemak Wanjo is so overrated. I hardly find anything impressive with theirs. There are many others who have better sambal and nasi with authentic santan taste..
