Growing up in 60s and 70s, I still feel the vibes then is better, be it in KL, NewYork, London or Paris. Maybe because people are more grounded and not so robotics. I have not experience the last 3 cities in the 60s or 70s but the residents of these cities at least those of my age, do have the same feeling about it.

While you were climbing up the road to the KL Tower, you pointed out a skyscraper in the distance and wondered which building it was. That is Merdeka 118. I've been visiting Kuala Lumpur off and on for a few years, and I've been watching it being constructed, so I'm a bit familiar with it. It is 678.9 meters tall, which makes it the second-tallest building in the world just below the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (828 m).
By comparison, the KL Tower is 421 meters tall and the Petronas Towers are 451.9 metres tall.
By the way, the word merdeka translates as independent or independence. You'll see that word a lot in Malaysia. For example, there is Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) in Kuala Lumpur, where a ceremony was held to celebrate independence from British rule back in 1957. I imagine you'll end up visiting that square at some point as you explore that neighborhood. It's a big part of Malaysian history.

KL is a small city .. but the surroundings of KL which also develop and became a small city make KL look like a giant metropolis. All the city combined called Klang Valley /KV the size of area until port Klang . all the big industries is located in Klang valley .After 2015 Klang valley size and development was peak and Msia gov make new future major development focus area bigger and expanding until southern state called greater KL as planned city of 23 years ago like Putrajaya , cyberjaya city, and KLIA aeropolis aviation hub bring more new industries and investor, are starting making impact to the surroundings and it keep spreading out to the south. New integrated port city is in plan in carey Island/ Port Klang area after fourth phase of Port Klang expansion is complete. Greater KL = 8.6 million population today.

KL is a mini New York...life here is more relax & stress free than the hustling & bustling of other cities in SEA..a lot to explore if you have the right tour guide. The islands on the north-east are so breathtakingly beautiful, very peaceful on northern areas & full with varieties of foods. They are very hygenic & clean. We are under-rated by many but that's a blessing in disguise. The country is safer, cleaner, peaceful & the people are very friendly in all states but in KL you may find many people pretending to be Malaysian & will tell you strange untrue stories & forever envious neighbours 🤣 you can see them busybody here pulling you to their country as if Malaysia want to kidnap you forever. Enjoy your stay & be happy here.

You should take a Grab ride and head towards the Hulu Langat district, just half sn hour outside KL. There's plenty of waterfalls and rivers to explore. More than half of the area is still covered in rainforest and there are lots of tropical fruit orchards.I'd recommend Sungai Gabai waterfall. The cascade is quite high and you can climb to the top via a cemented staircase. Once you reach the water source on top, take a dip in the cold water and you'll notice some mahseer fries nibbing on your dead skin - think of a natural fish spa 😅 Another place of interest to try in Hulu Langat is the Sungai Congkak river recreational forest. It's a local favourite for picnics or just dipping in. It's worth a daytrip.

And besides the nasi lemak, you can try Char Kuey Teow, Mamak Mee Goreng (noodles), Rendang, Kajang Satay, Laksa, Malay kuih (small dessert cake), goreng pisang (fried banana) Chinese chicken rice and much more.

If you go down the stairs to Aquaria, there is a steps out to the parks near cafeteria. The signage is a bit poor there.

Zane, should you walk towards KLCC Twin Towers from the park, you would've seen a lake that has light shows at night. More to explore I guess :P Do try some of our local cuisines (of which you will have an abundance of choice). Would suggest for you to explore the outskirts for more hidden gems :)

Modern Kuala Lumpur today is pioneered by Chinese tin miners under Captain Yap Ah Loy.
Meanwhile, indentured Indian laborers built the nation infrastructures, rubber and palm oil plantations
This is why Malaysia is truly Asia.

which country is not 50% forest in their country? Australia is 95% inhabited.

@@geodarnodan6750Lol, Australia is largely a desert country, they don't have much forests left and their forest area is less than 20% of their total land 😂. Plenty of countries have smaller forest areas than Malaysia. Namely France, Germany, The UK which is ironic since they are the ones talking the most about deforestation 🤭. A country with 30 x bigger land areas like Canada & the US have less forest area as % of land than Malaysia. There are over 100 countries with less forest area as a % of land compared to Malaysia. So when you say that plenty of countries have more than 50% of the land area covered with forests you are lying. For such a densely populated country, Malaysia forest reserves are considered superior, especially compared to western countries.

6:31 I find it weird for it to say Kuala Lumpur as 'South Asia's Youngest Capital' since Kuala Lumpur is not even located in South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc). The correct one should be 'Southeast Asia's Youngest Capital.'

KL is pretty ok but the better stuff are expensive and one needs to be in the upper bracket to enjoy the quality stuff. Small towns here have the standard trappings of KL eg Starbucks. NYC Manhattan is way cleaner and feels safe to walk around in day time unlike here. The best amazing spot was 5th Ave where even the backlane is amazingly super clean. Thank you.

It’s hard to say which city is best or better than another. I think we can only really have a list of amazing cities for different categories. Coz we all have different interests.. I find London, Beijing, Athens and Tokyo the most fascinating cities I’ve been to.
