The world was our oyster after we finished The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We were free to explore it to our hearts content, and try to get into all the areas we weren't supposed to be in. However, unknown to the average player, there were invisible time warps and rifts scattered around the land. When entered, they'd take Link to areas he wasn't supposed to be in given his current age, and it'd throw time for a loop. Today we're covering the mystery of the invisible time rifts in Ocarina of Time!

The developers intentionally left the glitches in the remake because the fans loved them! They've said that before in interviews :)

@Teal Teal OoT and MM 3d as well as the TP and WW "remakes" are not remakes. They all still have the same glitches cause they are the same game with a texture update. None of them are remade from the ground up. They even admitted this with the WW remake and said it only took 6 months to make.
They keep in glitches for speedrunners.
I've always loved Zora's Domain as a kid and it is actually my favourite place in the game due to the relaxing water sound and the music. When I was a kid I used to get upset when I finished the game and went back to a still frozen Zora's Domain.

I remember finding that heart piece in Gerudo Valley as a kid, with action replay. I was also quite perplexed as to why it was there, and it made me wonder if there was initially intentions to have you go there as a kid that were eventually scraped.
I've been replaying OoT 3ds recently, so I decided to boot it up and try the Jabu Jabu warp for myself. I'm amused how easy and repeatable the feat is. Was struggling with it to begin with, but once I approached it from the bottom of that little ramp instead of the top, the loading zone triggered within only a few attempts at it once I got the hang of it X3

Something I found out a few years ago from messing around with moonjumping is that the loading zone for the inside of the Deku Tree is still present in the future, it's just blocked off by the Deku Tree's mouth being closed.

I love topics like this. These are things I have wondered about the game for years. I mean I've been into speed runs for many years now so I know most of the child/adult shenanigans you can get into with unintended glitches but I'm still learning new things. I really enjoyed your theory on the "dying guard " as well. Very cool

hey swanky. you missed 1 hidden warp. if you were to go to the twins house in ocarina of time and get on top of it, you can reach the geometry of the map border. for some reason this geometry is solid for a bit. you can then carefully make your way passed the loading zone that loads the bottom of the deku tree without triggering it. the end result is that the wall that blocks where you would normally enter the deku tree has been unloaded and they forgot to remove the loading zone for the dungeon beyond it.

What I want to know that no one ever talks about is when you are a kid and you make it into gerudo zilei weather through action replay cheats when you do go into the gerudo fortressthe heart piece is there but no one ever talks about the treasure chest that's at the top as well that it has a mushroom and it has that mushroom that you use to get the biggoron sword and why is it there
Probably used to be a different item, or had a different purpose, during development, and since they decided you wouldn't go to the Gerudo hideout as a kid, they just stopped developing that scene setup and it got out of date.

yes there is infinite sword glitch in oot3d but its harder
a lot were removed though. a huge portion of bugs were completely fixed and many bigger glitches were removed entirely or are much harder to pull off.

Found the Gerudo tent one on my Action Replay for the Gamecube version, as well as a heart piece in the Gerudo Fortress. The Gerudo guard fights are tough as child Link.

I have an example, this most likely wouldn’t count cause
1. (To my knowledge) you can only do it on the 3ds remake
2. You have to preform a weird glitch
But in The OoT 3ds remake you can get into the Great Deku Tree as adult link, you have to jump over the the Deku Tree’s loading zone so that the model doesn’t load. It’s pretty easy, but can be annoying to preform. You equip the hover boots and get on the magic bean pad and jump on one of the house so you can jump the barrier that surrounds the Kokori village and walk around until you get to the Great Deku Tree that is currently invisible and walk in the general Area the Deku Trees mouth is and you should be in.

If I remember correctly, if you go to the one house in Kakariko village, the one who mentions about "their boy" when you try to enter it, if you go to the right side of the house and back towards the mountain, there's a seam. You can do a slash attack and if you do it just right, you should end up going through the seam and I think if you're quick enough and press over to the left, you can enter the house which will end up being the Bazaar in the future.

Didn't you know swanky most of the glitches in ocrarina of time and majora's mask were kept in during there 3d remakes as long as they couldn't cause crashes or damage the system
You can actually get into the Deku Tree as adult link.
Items needed;
Magic Seed, Hookshot, Hover Boots.
Use the magic seed in the soil in Kokiri Forest, then fly on the plant in the future. When you pass by the 2 horned house, use the hover boots to get on top of the house, then get out of bounds on the ledge up ahead. Use the Hookshot to find the real floor, and make your way to the Deku Tree. Drop from the ledge and enter through the mouth. I remember doing it as a kid, so I know it works.

With Ocarina of Time 3D, I think they wanted to keep it mostly the same like with glitches too
The only thing I can think of is a temporary warp to the future in the 3DS version. If you triple slash clip into one of the houses and walk to the door, Child Link gets warped to the Adult version of one of the shops. I may remember that incorrectly, however - and it's only a temporary warp anyway.
Anyway, nice video! I never knew about the invisible tent. I wonder if all versions of OoT have it ...? They didn't remove the entrance to Jabu-Jabu's belly, after all ...
ironically as a kid I did manage to get over that iron gate after trying for what must have been hundreds if not thousands of hours and got that heart piece. I never knew you weren't suppose to get it I just thought I was being rewarded for my difficult entry rofl.

I don't know if this works on the N64 version, but in the 3D version of the game it's possible to access the Great Deku Tree as an adult by going out of bounds using the magic bean pad and hover boots. As an adult the Deku Tree's mouth is shut, but if you can access the area without crossing the loading trigger in the thin passage leading to the tree by going above it the tree's bottom half is unloaded along with the collision. This allows you to enter the great tree as an adult even though it's a child only dungeon.

I think the glitch of entering Jabu Jabu's belly as an adult in OoT 3D was purposeful. One of the developers said that a lot of well-known glitches from the original were kept in the 3DS remake because, as he put it, "glitches are fun!" which is 100% correct.
Because of this, I don't doubt that this was added intentionally for a kid who finds it by accident to tell his friends about.

Ocarina of Time 3D was a ground-up remake, even the music was remade to be exactly the same but enhanced. The developers said they wanted to recreate the glitches because they were fun and loved by people.

If I remember correctly The developers of oot 3D left in certain glitches from the original that didn’t ruin gameplay because they found people were nostalgic and liked some of them which is why some glitches carry over from the original

You catch a fairy -> You open the inventory at the same time -> then you replace an useless item with the bottle you catched the fairy with ->You have a new bottle

Not only are 37 pieces actually present in the game, but the hidden piece in Gerudo Valley is actively used for 100% speedruns ! It's faster to get this one while you're there through an Adult Link glitch with the hook, than getting one fo the other (I don't remember which one is skipped).
Hey dude you forgot one! If you hook shot in Kokiri forest on the twin house and hover boot to the top over where Mido would be the loading zone will glitch out you can go in the deku tree as big link!
When remastering ocarina of time, they wanted to leave in all glitches that don’t harm the player in the game.

@@Jahaay You keep trying to say this to everyone who mentions this lmfao but then why did they fix all the glitches that mess stuff up in the game, like getting the poacher's saw, before the first deku nut upgrade, originally counted so you had already gotten the nut upgrade, as well. With that, you couldn't get both upgrades, anymore, but they ended up fixing it, yet a bunch of fun glitches are still in the 3DS version? I'm pretty sure they left them in, or in at least Jabu Jabu's belly warp, added it in, since it's easier. Not sure why you're so adamant that they didn't choose to leave them, when they could easily have fixed them, without affecting the rest of the game at all lol
I had gotten over the iron gate once by that method. What's also amusing is breaking the crates where a third is stacked on top of the two will result in the third one hovering in the air... course I was caught after discovering that :P
Also with the bomb/hover trick you can access Dampe's grave as Child Link... so Dampe is alive and dead at the same time :O
fun fact, just like jabu jabu's warp, the tent's loading zone is still there as child link in OoT3D

One thing about the Gerudo area... The two guards on the other side of the gate are the same as the ones at Gerudo Fortress and if they see you, you'll get caught. You did mention this when talking about the tent, but there's something interesting about it. If the hookshot (or longshot) is not in your inventory, when they capture you, you're thrown into the river below the bridge. Otherwise, you're thrown into the jail like you normally would be as an adult. (Even when you're an adult and go to the fortress, if you don't have the hookshot or longshot, you'll be thrown into the river instead of the jail). This is obviously because you cannot get out of the jail without one of those items, so they programmed that failsafe into the game. It is technically possible to get to Gerudo's Fortress as an adult without the hookshot or longshot casually, if you get Epona's Song before pulling the Master Sword (as beating the Forest Temple is required to go back to child, which in a casual run requires the hookshot) and get Epona from Ingo right after becoming an adult. This will allow you to jump across the broken bridge and you can wander right on in. It's likely the failsafe was programmed for this reason, but few people likely encountered this in a playthrough by accident, since Sheik tells you to go to the village after becoming an adult. But I always found it interesting, and almost seems like they expected child Link to get past that gate.

In Kakariko village as a child, if you go inside the stack of bricks, you can enter the door to the adult archery minigame

I would just like to put this out there, but the reason why they didn't fix some of the glitches in the 3DS version is because the game was redesigned by people (not the people that helped make the game) that weren't meant to change it. Their jobs were just to REdesign the textures and not recreate the game. Putting aside the control scheme and the inventory system. I'm not sure if this is 100%, I could be very wrong so apologies, but that's what I heard, thank you 👍
