The Fishing Pond in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a place players could retreat to and just relax. However, in my opinion, limiting fishing to this small area was kind of a mistake. How would fishing anywhere in Hyrule change the game? Well... It's time we found out!

It's not a perfect mirror, he always has a mastersword replica regardless of your current equipement, so my guess is if you have the fishing rod he still have the sword.
Also his AI is programmed to do an attack if you don't attack him for a few seconds, catching a fish with him around will be a challenge.
especially given how this area has its own sorta lighting sheen, how that might interfere with the weird changing mirrorness of that room

The timeline is split anyways after OOT, so, uh... what's one more split? 😅
@@SwankyBox given that oot included a timeline where link dies; it's reasonable to assume that there's a timeline like that for every game, just that there isn't anything with lore importance. Who's to say the fishing timeline isn't canon
@@walls_of_skulls6061 Yeah. I think that the "Hero is defeated" timeline is just an oversimplification of all the different possibilities of Link being defeated. It's not just Ganon drfeating him, but, any death up to that point would count because it allows Ganon to take over. It's not significant enough to change the overall outcome. If Link doesn't save the day, Ganon takes over, but, there could be minor differences amongst all the possible realities depending on when or how he died. I would say though, that whether he died or not, if he just never says the Princess or is crippled, then the same thing would happen. But, those things couldn't happen in the game, so, it's probably why it can't be counted.
Or, idk, because I've only played BOTW.

Fish are catchable in just about any pool deep enough for the bobber to float properly and Link isn’t standing too far above

When I was young and played OOT I was so scared of the redeads outside the temple of time that I used to teleport here and fish for hours... I think I have found nearly every glitch and Easter egg here. I felt like a god after finding the sinking lure haha. MORE FISHING CONTENT!!!

Fishing at the bottom of Gerudo Valley really sold it for me, I never realised how much I wanted to even just SEE that. It makes me wonder of BotW2 might have something like that. I know you can just dive into the water and snatch fish up with your bare hands like a goblin, but I know plenty of people who would rather enjoy traditional fishing over that.
Agreed. Botw was missing a rod. Zelda needs fishing. Helped me enjoy fishing in real life.

This is always a fun experiment. I do know that fishing works quite well in Zora's Fountain.
Aside from that, it is interesting to see you chose Morpha's Boss Room for one of your tests as that was the original test site that the programmer (Morita) fooled around with the idea of fishing, that may explain why it works so well.

i really wished that botw had fishing poles. I just love fishing, so when I played TP (my very first zelda game) I was so stoked to see fishing in a game for the first time in my life. Its also just so fun and relaxing to take a break and fish, when I couldn't do it irl.

Truly, from my heart, this makes me so happy to watch! I was a sophomore in highschool when I got OOT. I used to pull the cart and enter debug and it always compelled me to see more oddities. This is all so magical to me.

I think one of the glitches about stealing the fishing rod can also put a deku stick on the B button. That might explain how the rod functioned like a deku stick when fighting.
I'm a bit sad that the hidden fish didn't get a mention, the one that hangs out at the bottom and requires a sinking lure. As a kid I felt like the ultimate hacker when I caught that, but not a lot of people know about it

All this just reminds me of the skeleton fish in Twilight Princess. Child me felt reaaaally smart when trying to catch the enemy fish instead of walking past them. I'm still disappointed that I wasn't allowed to put them in the book with the other fish.

Funfact: in Majora's Mask, the fishing areas actually allow you to wear the Fierce Deity Mask without using cheat devices. I have an idea why, but not only is it a stretch, but it's unsupported as I have no interest in getting some of the more interesting fish in that game.

Assuming you could still beat Ganon without Zelda it would actually SAVE the timeline to trade her for a fish. She's the one that makes two extra timelines so in reality the Fishfall timeline is ideal. It would be Adult but with a hero to save the day to prevent Windwaker's flood.

What about fishing in Zora's Domain, in Jabu's Belly, and in the Ice Cavern?
The spawn in point being near water is pretty low odds for jabus belly and ice cavern.
What are my childhood friends father loved this he would just go to the fishing pond and fish for hours just having so much fun. Good memories
he could have tried zora's domain? death mountain the Hyrule castle mote. the well in kakariko . the green dead pits deep under the well. off the ship in the shadow temple. and the great fairy fountain. not to mention off of lord bong-go bong-go's drum or even well's in the forest temple. what about the ponds in the forest temple's garden? and the ultimate fishing area the lava under ganon's castle.
