Indeed, just thermal solution replacement either a higher quality thermal paste (nothing crazy like liquid metal which requires other things and was made for PC CPU over clocking) and obviously maintenance cleaning of the heatsink fan system is all that's needed to drop temperatures to optimal operating conditions. The CPU and GPU will generate heat due to the architectural computational performance needed to render any type of software application that especially computes 3d space in a videogame so no need to worry excessively over the temps other than maintenance.
Adding the potentiometer did nothing to help with cooling, only giving you the ability to reduce fan speed and noise. You will only be able to lower the voltage and raise it back to normal meaning the fan will ether run normally or less than normal. You cannot raise the voltage to make the fan spin faster with this setup.
Be careful pulling loose connectors by the cable rather than by the connector itself, those things can be really fragile. On the other hand, sometimes they're tough to get out and I once accidently broke a wireless antenna connector in a laptop, simply trying to disconnect it. It was really on there for some reason.
A voltage divider is a simple circuit that turns a large voltage into a smaller one. Using just two series resistors and an input voltage, we can create an output voltage that is a fraction of the input. Voltage dividers are one of the most fundamental circuits in electronics. A 3 terminal pot used with 3 terminals, is basically just a voltage divider. As you move the wiper, you increase one resistor in the voltage divider, while decreasing the resistance in the other. ... So long as the wiper is connected to one leg of the potentiometer, it will behave a variable resistor.
Although this video is years old it is wrong on modding the heatsink fan... If you only did proper application of the thermal solution and just cleaned up the dust there was no need for anything else other than buying a larger Hard Drive to 1TB size or 2TB or buy a 1TB or 2TB SSD. The heatsink fan system is supposed to ramp up the RPM thus why it will spin faster and later spin down... the fact that it spins faster does not mean the system is "over heating" but that more fan speed was needed to disperse the heat build up which is why it later slows down the RPMs. The main problem is how some gamers will randomly shut off their Xbox or PlayStation system during the RPMs ramping up where the heatsink fan system does not get the time needed to disperse the heat properly.
friend, for what reason is necessary to use 3 ways and not only the first two cut .- the wire that was not cut and only peeled without it not working? does this wire have a doq pulse? I wait thank you for your attention
Nice video but don't see any point for a potentiometer much less leaving it inaccessible so you cannot adjust it as needed. I suppose you can do this to avoid running it at max speed all the time by cutting the pwm and have it run at like 3/4 speed at all times and get better idle and/or light gaming temps but then you loose the the extra 1/4 when needed.
I dont get what you mean by 4th wire, what 4th wire the one directly from the fan or the 4th pin in the conmector if the the connector then what way would i have to be holdin git for it to work? I have tried like almost every combination possible and all i got to is the fan just turning on right at the end of the spin of the potentionmeter
Why didn't you just replace the fan to something better like a Noctua? The correct fan design can theoretically push the same or more CFM with less RPM. Less rpm and correct fan design = silence and efficiency. The Potentiometer was an unnecessary mod than can potentially short something out if the unit were to fall.
Hey bro do you think i can do something like this on my xbox one x i was watching your fan mod on the x but i would love to add the potentiometer on the x
NVelme in this video, every single time you show the home screen. Unless what you're failing to mention to everyone is that this isn't your console you're showcasing this mod on. Which doesn't change much, you're showing a console that's been banned from Xbox Live, and that's hilarious.
oh ok this one actually was banned, i thought that you were talking about xbox one x, answered some questions on community and got mixed up. i bought 5 faulty console joblot at that time and repaired them. after repair this one apeared to be banned.
Thought you would have replaced the fan to a noctua fan not put a device that shouldn't even be on there as the Xbox fan as its own fan speed and not much rpm so you just ram up the rpm more than it can handle which can burn out and wear off the bearings fast, pointless mod for abit of degrees and putting a disc in a banned console doesn't do anything all you have done is replaced the thermal paste really that's why it was cooler after because the Xbox had dry paste
Adding inline resistance, will lower current. less current slows fan, less cooling. Standard practice to clean away and reapply thermal paste when ever a component is separated from it's heatsink.
I believe just the thermal paste replacement alone would improve the cooling performance by a lot.
sparkster7744 yes that is posiible

that is not right, 12 v is full fan speed, i reduce it to less than max.
just new thermal paste do this beast of a machine good enuff...mine never ran that hot my x runs hotter

I know this vid is old but you can get high performance low profile Heatsinks from scythe that will do a better job than the stock one!

yes for this model it could be better if you can adjust it
To bad your console is banned from Xbox live bahaha
yes it was second hand console.
GlassOpper11b how does one fix that?
how you get banned for xbox live???? i never seen that before

he soldered 2 yarn and the third he was decaminated?
:O
?
So the fan throws air out the top, right?
The cable you don't cut does not weld anywhere?
Why no one makes Xbox One in take cooling mod? It is becaue it's non viable?
How to clean that spreaded paste on processor, I'm hasitate to try qtip on it..
Um... how dose this help cooling?
fan spins faster. it needs just a little bit to get proper cooling
Um obviously you don't have a single clue as to how thermals work?
Michael Street i was gonna say the same thing

it is hard to get fan designed like ps4. ordinary fan will be worse

Why did the Xbox get banned??
My fan is up all the way but its kinda loud
the only problem that will cause is the noise
it is all right

I know righti love that he mista been real nasty with underage ppl or swearing at kids idk lol
Do you have any diagram ,
does it work the same on xbox one s? cutting the same wires
Yes I done it to a few
Closest wire to the fan just get some needle noses and pull it from the connector
My fan working on minimum speed with this but why? :o
