    Maharshi Patanjali, one of the six sages who wrote Shad Darshan (the six-philosophical theses,) is a highly regarded Sanskrit scholar with multifaceted dimensions. His Yog Sutras(also known as Yog Darshan) that primarily deals with sadhana or spiritual practices is in the form of sutras. These sutras are “simple yet effective aphorisms that have strung the philosophy,” says Swami Mukundananda ji. The Yog Sutras are not only ancient but also very practical. Modern Psychologists too are discovering its utility in guarding or in regaining mental health.
    In this preamble to Patanjali Yog Sutras, Swamiji introduces us to one of the primary requisites for spiritual progress, while answering these questions in a lucid manner - Who is Patanjali? What was the purpose of his birth? How did Yog Sutras come about? What are the elements of Yog Sutras?.
    About Swami Mukundananda:
    Swami Mukundananda is a renowned spiritual leader, philosopher, visionary, author, and humanitarian. He is the founder of the yogic system called “JKYog.” Swamiji is a unique sanyasi (in the renounced order of life), with distinguished degrees in Engineering and Management from two world famous Institutes in India, IIT and IIM. He is the senior disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj.
    Swamiji’s enlightening discourses clarify the deepest concepts of the Vedic scriptures with wit, humor, and perfect logic. Along with his discourses, he teaches the comprehensive system “Yoga for the body, Mind and Soul”. For the youth, Swamiji has conducted programs at prestigious universities such as Princeton, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Duke and Kellogg School of Management. He has been invited to speak at various Fortune 500 companies like Google, Oracle, Intel, etc. For children, he has established a special personality development program, called “Bal-Mukund Character Building Program.”

    We have been deprived of the gems of ancient vedic knowledge in this modern world which is the eternal science for human welfare. The power of this knowledge to transform human life is evident in the popularity of Yoga around the world. Here is a wonderful opportunity to get a deeper understanding of the origin and the purpose of this knowledge by watching this lecture. Swamiji explains complex scriptures with perfect logic , order ,and simplicity.

    when mouna viradham( the process of practising silence) is suggested as a parigaram(revitalisation methodology) for vakku sani (a stage in 7.5 years of saturn as per vedic astrology)- in patanjali yoga sutras - vibuti padam sutram 4 - states that trayam ekatra samyamah - which also suggests silence to perceive knowledge. Then if this mouna viradham is leading to a state of samyama for 2.5 years - then he will reap yogic benefits out of it. Hence I feel that yoga sutras are very much interconnected with astrology - please provide your views on the same

  • @YoginiCeleste
    @YoginiCeleste 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    There is no written knowledge in this world that is divine because divine knowledge is acquired through stillness and silence, so the Truth cannot be articulated in words. Anything written in this world is only interpretation because words cannot tell us the Truth and as Ramana Marharshi said, "You may go on reading any number of books on meditation. They can only tell you 'Realize the Self.' The Self cannot be found in books. You have to find it for yourself in yourself."
    There is NO spiritual path, there is NO getting there because the Truth is already here among us, but we don't experience it because of the mind. It is the activity of the mind that obscures your true Self and the Heaven/ Nirvana that your soul is dwelling in right now. However, you are caught up in the optical illusion of this physical reality, which is why detachment is so important so you don't get lost in it all.
    The whole point of the Sutras and the highest goal of Yoga is revealed in Sutra 2 Pada 1: Chitta Vritti NIrodhah, which means stilling the changing states of the mind so the mind can adequately reflect that divine Self. It is wonderful to listen to the history of the Vedas and Patanjali, but this will do nothing for your Realization until you begin daily intense practice of MASTERING YOUR MIND with any one of the methods that Patanajli suggests in Pada 1. In fact, one of the easiest methods is pranayama especially Bhastrika because it removes the mental impressions or samskaras that are distorting and clouding the mind/mirror God has given you. And it is much easier to control the breath, which controls the mind. By removing the mental impressions, karma is also destroyed.
    There is a Taoist expression: "The wise are not learned, the learned are not wise" because wisdom does not come from any books even the Vedas. I have often been asked by my students if learning and wisdom cannot coexist and my answer is that once someone has realized the truth of reality which is God, all previous learning goes out the door. In my experience, when God Realization comes, then the deeper meaning of the Sutras and Vedas are revealed because words are arbitrary and open to multiple cultural connotations. In Realization, words become transparent when someone has experienced the divine substrate inherent in all things. Therefore, it is better to practice controlling and purifying the mind in addition to reading these insightful spiritual texts because once this happens you see and understand all things without even knowing why ~ Namaste

      @@gurupunjabi625 Sadhguru said in an interview with journalist Sasikumar - "Just because you did not experience it, does not mean it doesn't exist....he is wearing the crown of ignorance ".
      If you didn't "experience " salvation doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
      Salvation was usually the last stage of life, Baalya, Youvvana, Grihastaashrama, Vaanaprastha. It's generally during Vaanaprastha that salvation was sought. However some have sought it earlier too according to some stories/ sources.
      Which stage are You?
      It is not for no reason that Moksha/ Salvation is so widely referred to in numerous Hindu texts. There must 'something ' in it to be referred to often that our generation is for reason unable to comprehend or experience.
