  • All Lost Keys, Customer doesn't know if the Ignition and door lock are the same. I will decode the door and find the missing cuts for the ignition.

Terrific video, thank you! Happy to be the first commenter on it! Thank you for showing us the level of skill and effort required for this type of lockout situation. Well worth whatever you charged him! I saw some back and forth trips and additional steps in the shop you did that you condensed into a short sequence for the video, making it look easy when I know it's totally NOT. Plus there's the risk of stuff going wrong (technology! great when it works, sux hard when it doesn't), and risk of waste of costly inventory. I didn't previously know about the door lock decoding tool and skill, but knew a little about Ford PATS key programming. I've been using FORScan program to be able to DIY program my own *ignition* keys for a 2003 Ford F-150 that could be the younger twin brother of the truck in the video.
I also have successfully used FORScan on 2002 and 2006 Ford Focus cars, 1 I own, 1 I help a friends with, to make new ignition keys. I found that some key blanks (off Amazon/eBay) wouldn't work with FORScan, (and probably not with your device either); I've only had luck with the Strattec brand of blanks for my F-150 truck, though a locksmith had an ilco blank that worked. However, after I had TWO original factory or locksmith-created (non-clone) keys, the DIY no-tech method to create additional Ford keys DID work with the Amazon/eBay keys.

First time ever seeing a bitting for a Ford 8-cut system that was part of the Y series. I thought they were all 0001X-1706X lol

Great job! Your probably not going to tell me but how much did you charge this customer.? Another question is my wife lost the original key for 2000 ford expedition at the store. She had one made there by calling locksmith, was charged 80 dllrs for key and programmed. Its been about 8 months later and key don't start truck anymore. Truck flashes theft very quickly. I notice key cylinder is very loose and key is hard to take out b/c right position is hard to find on off postition. Someone suggest truck might have been tried to get stolen but I really don't see any damage to anything. I asked wife name of locksmith that helped her with key copied, she don't remember. Thanks, any feedback appreciated.

Oh, i forgot to ask you the last question. If I change the key cylinder cause it looks like it needs a new one, along with the key, is there a way to program right there, even if the old key don't start the truck? Or is a locksmith needed for this job?

If you just changed the cylinder only.
Sure just program it as if you were adding a key.

What device are you using? I lost the original key to my 01 f150 so I had a new ignition cylinder put in that came with 2 transponder keys but I need to program them
