    Ford tip: If you are new to them get a 1/4" drive metric SIX point socket set with a universal joint and a couple of six inch extensions. Make SURE you have a 7mm socket! Many dash and other Ford screws including many on 1997-2003 Fords are 7mm. I was looking for a video to link to a friend and found this one, so I added this tip to make it even better.

    So Sunday night I’m driving my truck (1997 F150 5.4L 2WD) and make a hard right turn at about 20mph (truck has full suspension, bilsteins, traction bars…etc so it’s not like that was way too fast for the truck). Halfway through the turn, the truck died. Would not start back up. The truck cranks, but does not start. I checked all fuses in the kick panel, under the hood, and the inertia switch. Everything looked good. I hooked up my SCT tuner to read the DTC’s, and the tuner states “No vehicle connected to device”
    After researching this and coming across your videos, I’ve noticed my key is barely able to function for the last few months. The key is very worn, and the cylinder has seemed catchy and not wanting to turn over.
    I’m wondering if it’s because my ignition switch is fried or my ignition key cylinder is not allowing the PCM to recognize the ignition is on.

      The truck would not crank the engine when I was trying to start it. Everything else worked fine. Ignition switches can have a variety of symptoms when they fail including no-starts, engine randomly shutting off, wierd headunit behavior among other things. Do you have an aftermarket radio? Sometimes poor wiring behind the radio can blow Fuses

Still got acc power when I turn the key, but found my 111 fuse (ignition switch battery feed, start/run circuit) would blow when I tried to crank it. Everything else checked out. • @LehewTech
      @LehewTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would intermittently not send a signal to the starter solenoid to engage the starter. I could always get it to start bye fiddling with how far I was turning the key, so I knew that the contact for the starting part of the ignition switch was wearing out. A failing ignition switch can also be responsible for your car intermittently cutting off while running, especially if the check engine light is not on and there are no other drivability concerns.
