Love it, although I do wish this was about 2 years ago before I had to completely disassemble mine to replace two gears and had no clue what I was doing. These videos will be a great resource for others.
Hello, first of all thank you for your videos. I have one question: Do I have to disassemble the whole thing to replace the drive shaft seal (751080R91), or is that possible without completely removing the housing?
I'm not sure which seal you mean because that part # isn't showing up in the online parts book, likely an updated number now. The seal ta the back can be replaced by removing the 3 bolts in the retainer and slipping it off, no need to remove the shaft or dis-assemble anything else. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the videos Dave , they have been a valuable resource .Could you tell me what bearing number the needle bearings in the sliding quill gear for a B275 is when ordering replacements .
Great presentation indeed. It's so helpful. I am a new owner of a 450 and looks like they have the same arrangement with 414. Just want to know if gearbox and differential share the same oil after topping up from gearbox filler port, and how many liters does it take
An IH 450 is quite a different tractor though the transmission and differential do share a case and the oil is shared so you can fill from the one plug. Not sure how much oil it takes. Thanks for watching!
I have a 63 B250 that has been sitting for a long time.. I drained a lot of water and melted a lot of ice out of the transmission. After finally getting it running I find I can only go between first and reverse. It won’t slide into any other gear. Is this a problem in the shift cover or deeper in?
It's probably rust on the rails in the shift cover, you can take it off and pull the rails off and clean them up. While you have the shift cover off it will give you a chance to check out gears too. Thanks for watching!
I recently just got a international 3414 backhoe and I took the shifter plate and plate off over rear end gears and the bolt on bearing which in your video you called it a bearing retainer has came apart how would I go about getting that bearing or just the whole main shaft assembly

You will have to lift the hydraulic lift unit off to get the shift cover off, but that is the best bet for seeing what is going on. Thanks for watching!
HI Dave, great videos. Perhaps you can help me. I have a B414 and recently I noticed oil discharging from the dipstick tube. I drained crankcase and ended up with about 18 litres of oil! I then drained transmission and only had 4 litres. What is going on here? Any suggestions on what has happened?
There shouldn't be any way for the transmission grease to get into the engine. Have you been needing to add hydraulic oil? Has it been using more fuel than usual. It could be leaking oil through the hydraulic pump or fuel through the fuel lift pump or injector pump. Thanks for watching!
At the base of the shift lever there is a little cap on either side. Take a small punch and drive it into one and this will push the pin out through the other side, you can then take a long screw driver or pry bar down through the opening and line all of the notches up in the middle of their travel. Thanks for watching!
Hey Dave I’m needing the 2nd/3rd sliding gear that you remove in this video. I’m in the U.S. do you have either a good used one or a new one? Thank you
Can you explain how the 444 tractor should sound it makes a noise when I'm operating it but when I press the clutch it goes away and it sounds like it's getting worse
Depending on the noise it could be a bearing going back, broken gear or hard to say what else. The only way to know is to start digging and find the problem. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I have a IH 3414 industrial backhoe that the differential pinion shaft bearing is bad, how do I go about replacing that bearing without splitting the tractor?
Dave, I have the same transmission, the clutch seems to work properly, however it usually grinds into gear. I've tried waiting till the tractor stops, and also double clutching. Nothing seems to help. What would you say is causing the grinding? Thanks!

Hi Dave, Thanks gor your very informative videos. I have a question. Where is the hydraulic pump located on a B414? Thanks for taking your time to answer my question and have a nice day.
The hydraulic pump bolts into the timing gears at the right side of the engine, just follow the pressure line to the lift unit to the pump. Thanks for watching!

Hi Dave I have a b414 just wondering to remove the shift cover do I have to remove the hydraulic cover first or is it possible to remove the shift cover on its own the back bolt is rite under the hydraulic control valve Many thanks in advance
Check through the inspection cover for any broken levers on the pressure plate, if any are broken the clutch will need replaced. If nothing is broken you can try starting it in gear where you have some space to drive, stand on the clutch pedal and jump on the brakes repeatedly, it might break it free. Thanks for watching.
Good day Interesting video. I saw a spindle, I think 414 front wheel bearings fit 574? Those gears seemed big for 35 hp? How do you keep gears from rusting now. If you ever strip another tractor record if possible. It looks like weather is basically same all over, getting colder. Thanks fo r now
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed the video. The 574 has a quite a bit larger spindle than a 414 so the bearings don't fit. The transmissions in these tractors are quite sturdy, damage mainly occurs from operators that don't know how to shift an unsynchronized transmission. We try to leave the gears a little oily and then juststore them inside to prevent rust, they may get a little surface rust but nothing that would cause any real harm. Winter is definitely right around the corner. Thanks for watching!
