    I grew up on an all IH farm, running everything from a Super C to a 3586 "2+2" and during the 70's and 80's personally put close to 2500 Hrs on a 1976 IH 574. I just recently purchased an '88 Case IH 385 MFWD with 850 Hrs. One reason why I chose the 385 was I figured it to operate very similar to my old 574. I thoroughly enjoyed my 574, for a small utility I didn't think it could be beat, but I don't remember the clutch pedal feeling like the pedal on the 385. My 385 appears to be in pretty good shape except the clutch pedal seems to not start to engage the clutch until about an inch from the stop. Do you have any video you could post of how to properly adjust the clutch on the 74, 84, 85, & 95 series tractors and what are your thoughts about my 385's clutch pedal?

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your 574 had a spring that lifted the clutch pedal to the stop when your foot was off the pedal, the 385 has what IH called a "constant running" release bearing, the spring holds the pedal down against the release bearing when your foot is off the pedal and they are considered self adjusting. As long as the pedal is at a comfortable height and you have enough travel to release fully your adjustment is good.
      I am jealous, I would love to put one of those old 2+2s to work for a day or two, they were a beautiful looking machine!
      Thanks for watching!

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would think 15+ hours, all the dash and stuff is mounted to the transmission to be switched over and you have to take the rear PTO shaft out of the clutch pack to split the transmission from the differential case so there is some work to do. Thanks for watching!

    Hi, I bought them 955 months ago. There are problems with the transmission. More precisely with second speed. Turn it on but as soon as I release the clutch it pops out of position. I tried to remove the transmission cover without removing the cab but it is held by the left gearbox shaft.
    What coud be the problem, with the gears?

    Thangs for video. What is a typical problem if the gearbox dont syncronice. I can get a 85 mod whit a problem i dont know what othere then its a sync problem. Must i dismantel all like you here to fix ore if i cud just botch it so it works? I asked the seller if the trackor moves at all and when the problem happends. Im a total noob at tractors. I do a little car work so i can a little. But removing the box i need something to lift and aslo place it on like you say. I think i cud rebuild the box if i had to. But why... iive in norway and a tractor cost a lot here. even a old 80s cost form 80-140nok thats about 100 nok is 10 usd almost. little less. This one i can get for 40nok. whit loader only.

    • @CanadianRedneck15

      It is likely the synchronizer, you would have to split the tractor at the clutch and then take the transmission off the rear end to replace the syncro. Thanks for watching!

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 354 is a good solid little tractor, just remember it's a 35HP farm tractor not a D9 Cat. The rear PTO bearing can be changed by pulling the PTO shaft out of the back of the differential case, the front bearing you would have to split the tractor to change. Thanks for watching!

      I am sorry, I only went as far as the brakes, I didn't think there would be much interest in the rear end. I will remedy that when I have another to take apart, sorry. In the mean time it sounds like a bearing issue to me, I will have the brake video up shortly for reference, but on the inside end of the axle housing is a planetary set, take the bolt out of the center and pull it out, the axle can then be driven out of the housing to check the bearings. Hope this helps.

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have added a front loader or a new machine that attaches to the hydraulic remotes it could have had some metal filings from the manufacturing process or contaminated oil if used. You could also have some gear shredding themselves or a bad bearing causing wear. Try flushing the system out well next time you change the oil.

      First thing to check is the gear lever, they have a hinge point in the middle that gets sloppy and doesn't engage the gear fully. You can drill out the holes and go to a larger pin. If that doesn't do it you better check out the gears, they may be getting worn and need replaced.

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is very hard to diagnose without being able to hear it. Does it miss, sound like it's starving for fuel? If the timing is too far retarded it can be low on power, too far advanced will tend to spark knock. It's also a good idea to do a compression test so you can judge the condition of your engine. Hope this helps.
