todays video is the MNstash 1000 SUBSCRIBER SPECIAL!!! i really hope you all enjoy this video, it took alot of hours to make but it was worth it. i decided to do a video on one of my personal favourite comics ever spider-man blue! quick blurb incase you know nothing abut this story; It is Valentine's Day, and Spider-Man describes himself as feeling "blue". Although Gwen Stacy, Parker's first love, died a while ago, he still feels blue for her to this day. So, Spider-Man recounts into a tape recorder how Gwen and he fell in love. with that being said be sure to tune in next time same web time same web channel :)

Spider-Man blue is arguably one of the best spider man stories easy top five. ( imo it’s better than the actual death of Gwen Stacy

What I really liked about this story is that, unlike in previous comics, cartoon, he's talking to a tape recorder, essentially talking to himself. You have no idea how often he used to complain about life in the old comics and 1994 cartoon, but this comic did a great job of using inner monologue. In essence, I'm stating that Peter made this life choice of being Spidey, is fully aware of the repercussions, and must accept them. I bring this up because a particular TH-camr who goes by the handle implicitly pretentious was able to alter the Spider-Man 2 movie's narrative, making Peter, who has persevered through everything negative but still stay strong, into a cry baby?. The man brought up some Spider-Man comics, saying that Peter's anger and complaints about life are what made him feel like a man, which is so stupid. It's merely an empty justification for disliking Spider-Man 2, well i can just bring this comic up whether there's an argument.
You’re right it was a greta choice to have him use a recorder during the story as a way of communication. Like I even said in the video Loeb really delve deep into Peter’s mind and in doing so made him so much more fleshed out and interesting (not to say he wasn’t already interesting ofc)

Peter and Gwen is definitely my favorite pairing in Spider-Man history. I love reading about them in the old Stan Lee comics.
It's definitely one of my favorite comic book relationships.

I love Loeb and Sale's whole 'Color' series. As a DD fanboy, I prefer Daredevil Yellow, but Spider-Man Blue is definitely one of the best comics ever. Absolutely recommend all of those books to anyone who hasn't read them before.

This video should be in your list of Retro Reviews regarding the Spider-Man character. As usual, I have to analyze the "Spider-Man Blue" mini-series. I think it's a great mini-series, but certain events are changed from the original; "Amazing Spider-Man" (ASM) 1963 canon run. First and foremost as a kid the comic is "The Amazing Spider-Man" so it should be TASM. For this retro analysis, I referred to the comics from the original run as TASM.
As much as "TASM # 42" is iconic with the introduction of Mary Jane Watson, one of the more underrated TASM issues is "TASM" # 41. Why?
1. Peter Parker buys his motorcycle. Peter owns the bike until he sells it in "TASM # 66".
2. Peter and Betty Brant's relationship ends, and Betty is now with Ned Leeds. This remains until MJ rejects Peter's 1st proposal in "TASM #183", and Betty appears in "TASM # 184 as she is separated from Ned Leeds. TASM tried to put Betty and Peter together, but it didn't work because Peter didn't want to be with a married woman.
3. Gwen realizes Peter is seeing her for the 1st time. In "Spider-Man Blue" this happens when the gang shows up at the hospital to visit Harry because his dad's in the hospital. This doesn't happen in the original run. Plus Gwen isn't impressed with Peter buying the motorcycle and in fact, seems disappointed he bought the bike. MJ rides the bike in "TASM #43" going with Peter to where the Rhino is on a rampage. Gwen doesn't ride the bike at all, only MJ does in that segment of the original run.
Then there's the mini-series ending where Peter and Gwen start dating on Valentine's Day. This is also not in the original run. The Internet states Peter and Gwen start dating in "TASM # 53" when they go to the Science Expo together. I disagree. I think they're finally a couple in "TASM # 59" when Peter is being interrogated by Captain Stacy regarding why Spider-Man was with Doc Ock during his amnesia and Gwen comes in and hugs and kisses Peter because she hasn't seen him. I think this is where they start dating until Gwen dies in "TASM # 121". At that point, I only followed TASM for about 4 years as a kid. I was always frustrated by the fact she couldn't know his secret identity and Peter's ambivalence to share his secret with her. This becomes more complicated because Gwen thinks Spider-Man kills her father in "TASM # 90".
Gwen Stacy was killed off supposedly because her character arc was boring, and fans liked how MJ was presented in the storylines. I'll admit as a kid, I thought MJ was a better match for Peter Parker. However, it's amazing how long it took fans to learn her back story in "TASM # 259" and it took MJ to tell Peter she knew he was Spider-Man in "TASM #s 257-258". This is also retconned and supported by the "Untold Tales of Spider-man # 16" from 1996 where MJ sees Peter coming out his window as Spider-Man to go fight Radioactive Man. I liked that comic the most of that comic's run.
I like the homage in the "Spider-Man Blue" minis-series to the last page of TASM # 122" when Peter is rude and tells MJ she's not serious like Gwen, and instead of leaving she stays. In "TASM # 365" there is a section of the comic dedicated to remembering Gwen Stacy. In that segment, Peter and Gwen are having difficulties and it looks like they're going to break up. MJ thinks this could be her chance to be with Peter, but sees how emotionally distraught Gwen is, so she encourages Gwen to reconcile with Peter. Thus stepping aside a little longer until Gwen's death. Stan Lee wanted the Gwen Stacy character to continue and was disappointed she was killed off. In the 1st "Spider-Man" video game, after Peter leaves the restaurant to go see where the cop cars are going, MJ is leaving and a Stan Lee appears in a cameo. Stan Lee states, "You two were always my favorite." That's incorrect per the "TASM" History.
With time, we also forget, that MJ left the comic for a while, and Felicia Hardy became his love interest from "TASM # 194 in 1979 to "Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man (PPTSS) # 100 in 1985. Then there was some rivalry between MJ and Felicia for a while until Peter proposed to MJ the second time in "TASM # 290". However, that rivalry/competition for Peter's affection never compared to MJ and Gwen competing for Peter's affection from "TASM # 43" until "TASM # 59". MJ always seems to be waiting in the wings for them to break up, again retconned in "TASM # 365" the Spider-Man 30th anniversary issue.
These storylines are masterpieces compared to the last 17 years of "ASM". especially this current terrible Zeb Wells run. It's a shame, the current "Ultimate Spider-Man" (USM) comics seem to be released every 5 to 6 weeks. That comic should be released every two weeks and "ASM" every 3 months or so. Over the decades Gwen Stacy has been brought back many times, mostly as a clone, but in today's Marvel Multiverse Spiderverse as Ghost Spider/Spider-Gwen. I think the quality of ASM started dropping significantly after "TASM # 400" back in 1995 and then fell off a cliff after OMD/BND in 2007. The worst storyline in my opinion was "Sins Past""ASM # 509-514". This plotline is where Gwen Stacy has Norman Osborn's twins. I know Norman Osborn is unstable, but to kill the mother of his kids. It was great Marvel decided to retcon that storyline.
I don't know what direction Marvel is going to take Spider-Man, but the future doesn't look good. The new comic by Greg Weisman "The Spectacular Spioder-Men (TSSM)" has a lot of potential, but this still makes me think Marvel will eventually phase out Peter Parker/Spider-Man and replace him with Miiles Morales in the Earth-616 universe, especially if USM is successful. Currently, "ASM" is a terrible comic. Yes, Zeb Wells has a few moments here and there, but the overall quality of his storylines is awful. Poor quality writing to say the least. The rumor is Gwen Stacy is going to go on a date with Peter Parker in TSSM. If this rumor is true, is this Spider-Gwen or a different version of Gwen Stacy? Will "ASM" and TSSM" overlap in storylines? I like the idea of Spider-Gwen getting with Peter Parker, and having the Gwen Stacy story arc coming full circle. I hope Marvel will allow Peter to marry Gwen or Felicia Hardy, finally become successful, become a power couple, and have kids with a somewhat normal life in the Earth-616 universe. Never will happen. Marvel needs better writers who understand Spider-Man and can create stories befitting this character. Again it will never happen. Thanks for reading this dissertation. Tbh I like the changes Loeb made for Spider-Man blue. I just felt like it all blended really well and made it much more condensed!
I’m very very nervous with what’s coming out for 616 Peter. It’s still looking veryyyy bleak, even in the normal asm run I saw them blame the breakup on Mary Jane whereas a few issues back they said it wasn’t her fault!? Idk what the hell zeb wells and co. Are doing but it’s just so tiring man it’s doing my head in. I wish I could’ve grown up with the old tasm issue fresh on the shelf, would’ve been the best feeling ever!

I know it's exciting and a little anxious if the content you produce is going to be liked and supported by your subscriber base. This is just the usual learning curve, so no worries there. As you attain more experience, you'll further polish and add more specific content to your videos. Even the famous TH-cam channels that have I million subscribers like "The Critical Drinker" and "Nerdrotic" started somewhere. You doing great work making you the top Spidey channel on TH-cam. Yes,, there are more seasoned comic book TH-cam channels on this site like "Thinking Critical" and Weird Science Comics", but these are general TH-cam channels covering all the DC and Marvel characters and all the independent comics including Manga. Keep doing what you're doing. Great content is hard to come by, especially when it comes to Spidey. Cheers.

that honestly means the world man and helps motivate me even more. im hoping to really try to improve even my more simpler spider-man videos but im waiting on a delivery for that! I was a bit down on how this video performed just from all the hours that went into to it but at least the people who did watch it like yourself enjoyed it :)
ive only seen a preview for the next issue where he switches to a bunch of costumes with his daughter trying ti find the right one. I felt like it was a cute scene and im not sure how I feel about it not being made out of fabric

To be honest though had peter tell the truth to gwen that he's spider man then maybe she would've stayed out of the way from any of his enemies like the green goblin like peter not telling her his identity is what would led to her tragic fate this could've been avoided if he just decides to do so even before she lost her father or had he did in fact saved him then his reputation as a hero would've been better than how people would perceive his actions down the road pretty much saving his relationship with gwen then it would've been improved later on and she did not have to be in danger because of his double life yknow?
It could’ve been an interesting what if comic tbh lord knows they need new ideas. But just as a whole Spider-Man blue is probably the best (imo) Gwen Stacy story

ive been desperately trying to find if Australia will get any screenings yet I can't find anything which makes me sad I would go to see all the movies again :( also I re read asm 900 but im struggling to write about it and im not quite sure what to really do😅
@@mnstash I see you read asm900 I do hoped you can do a review of it and tell us how you feel about and the concept of super adaptoid that mixes the original sinister six powers and since you don't know what to with it but all I can say is you can get through this man I know well you can like every man can.
