- Welcome or welcome back to the stash! today we go over the new issue of The Amazing Spider-Man.
BETTY BRANT has been searching for any evidence to prove her husband NED LEEDS' innocence after his latest stint as Hobgoblin. After months of digging, she finally uncovered the location of the WINKLER DEVICE, the machine used to brainwash Ned. Hot on the trail of the one piece of evidence guaranteed to exonerate Ned, Betty was cornered by goons of the man who brainwashed Ned in the first place, RODERICK KINGSLEY. But being friends with Peter Parkerhasits perks, namely having Spider-Man swoop in to save the day. After making quick work of the goons, Spidey and Betty were able to locate the Winkler Device!
Unfortunately, Betty isn't the only one who wants the brain machine. Spider-Man's wayward clone, CHASM, and his girlfriend, HALLOWS' EVE, seem to have plans for the device. What's more-the duo has a new unlikely ally and therapist,
QUEEN GOBLIN.

Bro last time they did Ben justice was the original spiderverse run where he WAS HIMSELF. Morally centered, light hearted and Peter’s bro who took over for him to the og can live peacefully. Then sacrificed himself to save the rest of spider society
I heard a lot of Ben Reilly fans weren’t happy with that adaptation I personally haven’t seen it

I disagree. You need to be clever and inventive, but you can fix things without doing a reboot. They won't, but that's beside the point.
Why Marvel thought that Zeb Wells was a good candidate to write ASM is BEYOND ME
I am by no means a big Spider-Man expert but I have a theory.
In the past, Zeb Wells wrote a one-shot story featuring Spider-Man and Wolverine (Amazing Spider-Man: Extra #2 it was Story 2) which was considered by many fans to be a favourite of theirs and was overall well liked (there's dubbed motion picture videos of it on TH-cam).
Right before his run on ASM, he wrote one of the ONLY good and interesting runs in X-Men's at the time all new Krakoa era (Hellions). This run was enjoyed by many people, made them stick a bit longer before dropping out of the disastrous era they are still currently stuck in and it was right after that run ended that Zeb Wells was assigned to write for Spider-Man.
I think Marvel misinterpreted Wells's writing prowess or at least misattributed the franchise he worked best for : His X-Men books were good and his one-shot Spider-Man story was a crossover between Spidey AND Wolverine, a story that was mostly about the latter character.
Marvel put Zeb Wells on ASM because they thought he'd fare just as well as for X-Men and due to a small good story he had a hand on.
This theory would also explain Dark Web's entire existence, as it is yet another crossover story between Spider-Man and X-Men written under Zeb Well himself amongst other writers.
i think he is not a bad writter!! he has written good comics but editorial is always controlling you, like kevin feige with directors in the mcu, specially spider-man. Nick lowe never things he is wrong about his despiction of the character and even if you try to undo one more day (like nick spencer try) editorial wont let you and well it will end with a very ugly run of what the editorial wants you to do
My theory is that he was the only person willing to do it. Like every other high profile writer noped out of it.
I am just tired of evil Ben Reilly and frankly I just want him to go away and never comeback, and to make it worse we getting that terrible spider goblin in issue 50 which is going to be bad in my opinion.
oh 100% hopefully this issue can be the end of him as a vliian and just the start of him getting back to how he should be

At this point I'm wondering what Marvel going to do to recover from Zeb Wells run, because the amount of disrespect Zeb Wells had to nerf Spidey to the point a D-lister villian could have been easily beaten him and required MJ to save him a girl who just gotten superpowers from a braclet and never fought supervillian once in her life and her first year as a superhero suddenly fight like she fought them for years and making rookie mistake that shouldn't have been possible because one she is a former actress. At this point Marvel should do extra special to bring back some trust or fans that they lost from Zeb Wells.
at this point I think they should do one big reboot like omd in a sense to reset some things and get it back to the status quo of the 90s to early 2000s
Mj beat up Chmeleon with a baseball bat, she's not completely inexperienced.
@@tatalsaba she can definitely hold her own but she shouldn't be so good at using her powers especially considering its random each time and I dont think shes ever gotten the same power twice therefore she can't even practice with them before hand. idk it was simpler when she was normal😅
MJ prior to the jackpot powers is classified as a badass normal non powered she can get the better of c list villains and be far from a mere damsel in the presence of b listers she was outwitting villains in the 80's and wielded a revolver on baddies in the 90's and 2000's. MJ should be portrayed as a tough experienced streetwise chic but a little below Felicia in combat ability.

The only thing that could save this run is at the end it shows this was all a bad dream and peter wakes in a bed with MJ.
perhaps a bad dream that took place at the end of the amazing spider-man issue 500, the issue that I call the perfect ending to spider-man comics🤨
usually a good indicator Peter is about to get stuffed badly is a recent win.....
makes sense since goblin spider is coming back...lord help us

Honestly, they should just retcon the guy who came back in Clone Conspiracy was never the real Ben Reilly. The real Ben Reilly really did die in the Clone Saga in the 1990s and has remained dead ever since. I love Ben from the 90s so much, he was Peter's brother and his death at the end of the Clone Saga is heartbreaking.
He dies telling Peter to be Spider-Man again and to tell Peter's daughter (who peter doesn't yet know has been miscarried) about her own Uncle Ben.

I own almost every Spider-man comic and affiliated comic, yes even MaryJane loves Spider-man.
The only book missing is one more day, because i refuse to accept that as canon.
The reason that happent stil makes no sense up until this day.
Peter still feels and acts like a grown man with 50 years of bagage.
Only now without MJ as his spous.
So one more day has been all for naught.
Try and reason with me if you think otherwise.

Because nowhere has been made any attempt of Wells trying to get them back togheter, Just more writing them apart.
A mini series which Is not selling well.
But Paul and Mj made declerations how she would fight for him.
It Just feels marvel is trying to fortify their bond.
@@user-tc7gd5fq1r you're talking to someone who adores Peter and Mary Jane, I feel your pain. when I was going thru girl problems and such I found comfort reading their relationship and used it and spidey comics in general as a form of escape! they've helped me a lot and I just wish they were still married, which is partial to why im loving the current ultimate spider-man
thats insanely impressive with your collection, its my dream to one day have a complete set of volume one im over half way there with majority of major keys out of the way! may I ask about your collection journey?

Reacently new books were liberated from a collection.
May make obtaining a bit easier.
I hope next writer for series would be really good but I'm worried how that writter should first fix all of the lasr issues and then new story can begins
well nick Spencer pretty much had that role before zeb undid all his hard work so it is possible!

If it is true that Zeb is taking his anger out on fictional characters cause his ex-wife left him that is just sad
I think the Number 1 rule if you are writing well-known characters in any media is to NEVER let your personal life get in the way
Great news is we got ultimate Spider-Man which is freaking fantastic and ten times better than this book in my opinion.

Okay if there is one thing the really turns off comic book fans, it is when someone shows up in an important role that has never existed before in the comics. This happened with Teresa Parker, who was revealed to be Spider-Man's sister that he, and comic fans, never knew existed.
Teresa was a spy working for S.H.I.E.L.D., and even she didn't now that her brother was Spider-Man. Over time, the two developed a decent relationship and she back up in 2021 to learn more about her past, but fans never accepted her as a major part of Spider-Man's life. So yeah there's another Spider-Man character that on one even mentions as of now given how unimportant Teresa is to the mythos like I would love it if Zeb Wells simply retcons her into not being a sister of Spider-Man at all and that what she thought that she was related to him was a lie and that she is nothing more than a female clone just to think she ever had a place in her brother's life I mean something like this did happen in the ultimate universe 1610 so I wouldn't be surprised if Zeb Wells who never wrote a good Spider-Man story for once like the judgement day tie in does something that fans hated like how someone else whom we never knew had always existed without any knowledge of her being hinted in the series be introduced as nothing more than a fake who thinks she is part of his family but she never was like the way the sins past retconned Gwen and Norman's love child out of continuety by revealing they were clones with the DNA of the two and Harry simply orchestrated it and fake the memories of Norman into thinking he was their father but no so yeah I would want Teresa to simply be withered away from existence in the comics because we can never accept her in Spider-Man's life at all that we never had knew whaddya think pal
oh God yeah I absolutely HATED Teresa and the entire idea of him not being an only child. in fact the whole Peters parents are spies and now sister is sorta stupid. it takes away from that he was just an ordinary kid who got bit, now its hes just an ordinary kid whose parents died in a plane due to being super spies and sister whose been missing forever due to more spy reasons
@@mnstash Yes and I would want to be more simplified by having Peter be the only child Richard and Mary bared and not a secret second child that no one cares about by simply having her memories be jerked off by implanting false memories into her by thinking she was his sister but in reality she isn't technically speaking she's just a female clone of Peter who should have his memories than what she thought she had yeah I would want to be the case for someone we never fully accept at all man
I just have no idea as to why marvel does shit like this, its such a pointless change that does more damage than good who even thought that was a good idea

The next issue (49) will be a Blood Hunt tie in and the Spider-Goblin arc starts in issue 50.
