Purchased this kit. Just finished quilting and ready fur binding. The quilt is beautiful, wonderful weight and huge. Spray starched the heck outta the pieces prior to sewing… quilted with varigated thread… yep… it’s beautiful thank you so much… excellent tutorial
It's beautiful, but also I am guessing, because of the flannels is also very cuddly and comfy. I'm betting a special granddaughter would enjoy this gift, with all the pretty lavenders and purples. I better get online and check it out. 😂🎉❤
It’s perfect for cuddles! Maywood Studio does the BEST quilting flannel! You are going to LOVE IT! (and it sounds like a lucky granddaughter will too!❤❤❤)
I am finally starting this quilt today. I am hoping there's enough fabric included to enlarge this. I think it would be pretty to make the accent light purple 💜 chevrons currently on the top and bottom, to go all the way around 💜 the whole quilt 😄. . .
I think that would be absolutely gorgeous! 💜 I don't think there is enough in the fabric requirements to cover that, but I do have more of the fabric, so send me an email and I will get a custom listing made for you!
I would be reluctant to use spray starch on flannel. Maywood Studios puts out a very high quality flannel. You shouldn't have too much trouble. If you are worried, try a walking foot to help keep pieces moving evenly. Thank you for asking; I am sure others may have had the same question.
Great question! I wish I had thought to mention this in the video; and of course the answer is... That depends. LOL! If you are using high quality flannel, No. It is more efficient use of fabric to make the quilt, then when completely finished, wash it. The flannel will shrink in unison over time. If using inexpensive flannel (there is nothing wrong with that) you will want to wash everything before cutting. Make sure you buy extra length, about 1/4 yard per yard. It will shrink lengthwise and width-wise; and will continue to shrink over time, but after the initial shrinking, it will be minimal. Just as a side note: The reason the "quilting flannel" is more stable is due to the printing process. The quilting quality flannel is "wet printed" which actually facilitates a bit of shrinkage during production. I hope this is helpful.

How do we keep flannel from stretching? Spray?

Do you wash flannel before making quilts?
