Thanks for watching and for the kind words! There is a bit of cutting, but it is all for the finishing of the quilt. That is why I like to get it out of the way, because after I am done with the fun part (the big baubles) it is too easy to let it get set in the UFO pile. If the parts are all cut, it is easier to take it all the way to the end and actually get it finished! LOL! ❤ Have a very Quilty New Year!

Sure! You could cut the 3.5" strip and then add a 3.75" background strip on both sides. Finally, crosscut the unit at 2.5". This technique would be very valuable if you are not using 10" squares, and you are cutting longer strips. If you give it a try, let me know how it worked out. Merry Christmas!

thank you so much for watching! If you feel intimidated by cutting, then this is a great pattern with which to start because most of the pieces are big, and forgiving. A little wobble here or there is not going to show up. However, if you feel like this one is too much for you, later this spring I will be demonstrating my "Two Slices of Cake, Please" pattern which has LITERALLY 2 cuts! That's it! the pattern is available on my website right now, or keep an eye out for the tutorial in the Spring! (don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss it) 🤩 Merry Christmas!

When I first started I was terrified of cutting too. I purchased about 2 yds of some cheap ugly fabric and just practiced. It taught me how to slow down. I watched Donna Jordan on how she uses a weight and cuts. You gain speed with practice.

@@sandydali699 100% correct! Practice make perfect... and if not perfect, well then, Good Enough will do! LOL!

becoming a good fabric cutter is about as important as your seam allowance. Practice Practice Practice. I'd say 1st make sure you have a sharp blade to cut many layers at a time.. your comfort zone not mine or anyone else. 2nd is to go at your pace, I've been cutting for 32 years and yet I still make a measuring mistake, I have to slow down and remember to measure twice cut once. You got this. o and one thing I found over time is I use my 60mm rotary blade more than my 45 when a lot of stacking is needed. have fun

Cute idea! maybe you can find some Canadian Maple Leaf fabric and fussy cut some maple leaves into the squares! Good Question by the way: This was a small enough project I wasn't too worried about it. But the main reason was, by going left to right, instead of the center out, I only had one end to worry about keeping flat and straight; it was much easier to keep petting and patting to one side.
