    The first quilt print looks like the hippy movement. Love it, as I’m a ‘60’s child.

    *The Universe* brought this video into my sphere when I needed a pattern to reward an unsung hero who, behind the scenes had been caring for a beloved friend, literally keeping him alive until events unfolded to alert others, including myself.
    Of course, how do you thank someone adequately?: Make them a quilt, right!?
    The Good Samaritan color choice was burgundy, which presented problems because of its "deep/dark" components (dark and depressing).
    Found this video and am almost done with the *Sew Quick Pattern (Queen Size),* utilizing a rich dark burgundy as a "focal big print" and softer ethereal green and complementing muted yellow to balance out the composition.
    The interesting additional effect of the four patch green/yellow complementing fabrics is that it has created a shadow effect from the burgundy big blocks. It's quite amazing--and beautiful.
    I've chosen an echoing free-hand quilting pattern resembling a woodgrain, which perfectly accents the burgundy, offering a masculine finish.
    Interesting how coincidences can turn into miracles!
    And, I must be ready for the lessons taught through this contributor because I'm beginning to hone my quilting pattern designs to three to five color selections--it makes sense and has changed my whole world view of pattern selection.
    (For all the quilting shows I watch on TH-cam, learning the basics when I took up quilting four years ago now, I don't know how I missed this series. The "three color" fabic selection process, then chosing the pattern makes so much sense. I'll be saving so much money and shrinking my UFO collection substantually. This is an amazing system. Thanks.
    That's not to say I won't attempt multi-color fabric quilts again, I just think I'm going to focus on this concept for a while and see what comes of it!)

    Love big blocks. They allow so much of the focal fabric to be seen which if it’s your favorite, makes the quilt mor beautiful and appealing.
    Very nice video of beautiful fabrics for beautiful quilts!

    I have watched several free motion quilting videos where they demonstrated circles/bubbles. When I saw that black fabric with the circles my mind immediately thought that would be good to try to learn making those because you could just follow the pattern on the fabric. 😊

    Oh my.... when I saw this pattern (Stepping Stones) I was at first disappointed because I have a yard of stripe fabric and didn't think I could use it in making this quilt, have seen that I used a striped print was a game changer for me! Will definitely attempt this one!

    Would love the quilt pattern instructions…and amount of yardage used. That’s what’s missing in your videos!

    • @FabricCafe
      @FabricCafe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All of our quilts use only 3 yards of fabric, that includes quilt top, borders and binding! Only additional yardage would be for the backing of the quilt. All of the pattern instructions can be found in the patterns once purchased. 😊 Thanks for watching!

    I'm in the process of making Happy Go Lucky. When I lay out the first row of my 41 1/2" and then lay out the 2nd row, which is 6 1/2" pinwheels (with the thin plain pieces in between), only 5 fit across the 41 1/2 piece. The pattern calls for 6 6 1/2 x 6 1/2" pinwheels. What am i doing wrong? 😮

    Do you ever mix flannel with cotton?

    • @FabricCafe
      @FabricCafe  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't do it a lot for our quilt kits, but flannel makes a great backing because of the added warmth. We prefer to only use 100% cotton when making the quilt top.
