  • The 2022 redesign of the Vaio SX14 premium 14” business Ultrabook addresses the improvements we wished for in previous models. The carbon fiber chassis is rigid yet extremely light and as ever there’s a great selection of ports including 2 Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, HDMI and even Ethernet. The laptop has a Sharp brand IPS display supporting pen and touch (non-touch also available), has an enlarged trackpad, and ships with Windows 11. It’s available with Intel 11th gen Core i5 and i7 CPUs, has a fast PCIe4 SSD, presence detection and a Windows Hello IR camera plus fingerprint scanner and it’s available in some stunning colors like our white with a stainless steel look interior.

    VAIO was so ahead of the time. Their flip design 8 years ago was just recently adopted by the other OEMs for their high end lineups.

      I have the 2016 Z flip and it is pretty bad in even moderate use the battery drains while being charged. You really need to step away and let it charge. Keeps discharging.

    • @loa_gamer
      @loa_gamer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cubeb3 I also used the 2016 VAIO Z. and I know the issue.
      When I used it, the battery drained when gaming or benchmarking.
      The cause of the problem is the AC adapter.
      To keep the size of the AC adapter small, they used an AC adapter with a smaller capacity than the peak power required for the laptop.
      For this reason, when peak power is used in the laptop, power is used from both the AC power and the battery power, resulting in battery drain.
      This behavior is called 'hybrid power boost' , and the same issue occurs on some other laptops.

Wires appear and you can no longer connect to the power source. On my fourth one for a laptop I bought in 2020. Got the top of the line model, but it does me no good because I have to buy a new power cord ever year--and only the people who bought VAIO from Sony sells them. $40 with shipping. Bought my first VAIO in 1997. This will be my last due to the sleazy tactics of the new owners.

    Is there a review for the vsj144x0111k model? I think Kachi-iro colored with 32gb of RAM is the only type available but I'm not seeing any videos on it even tho the 12inch model sold out

    Hi I am a French customer of Sony Vaio that unfortunately did not resume its activities in France and froze its activities in 2022 in the UK/Switzerland/Germany, in order to purchase a Vaio SX 14 in the US and to be sure that it will work in France I need to confirm the voltage, can you confirm it is a 65 Watt charger ? thanks Nell

    SONY own 5% on the Vaio corporation and the VAIO trademarks and logo are still 100% controlled by SONY. They just didn't wanna do the day-to-day operations of building pcs but VAIOpcs are still advertised on Sony Japanese website even if manufacturered by VAIO corp

    I had 3 vaios in the past they were there all in one desktops , then when everything fell apart with Sony , they became very hard to come by in the UK , i miss the brand , I miss when Sony actually produced great things .

      I miss that brief moment when they made a white “Google TV” Bravia that had a really nice stand and a very calming look against a white bedroom wall. I wish I had the money to buy one of those but they never reappeared. Sony left that behind and continued with their own super sharp and all black Bravia designs.

    I *really* want to see Vaio make a laptop with dedicated discrete graphics. Something like an Nvidia Quattro or even an RTX in it would be fantastic!

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t because that takes away from the point of a ultrabook and makes it hard to take for a quick business meeting. It has thunderbolt you can hook up a external GPU at your desk and use that for 3D rendering and connecting more screens.

    • @demen5857
      @demen5857 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, true, it still needs some discrete graphics like mx350 for example, it still can be the ultrabook

      A model with the desired specification was recently released.
      It's VAIO FH14 Ultra, released in October 2021.
      It has Core i7-11390H, Geforce RTX 3050ti, about 1.43kg, about $1,200
      However, it is only available in China.

      @@loa_gamer oh nice, I wonder what really VAIO nowadays. They still make new decent laptops but not well known now, people almost forget about their existence and are they now a Chinese company?

    I don't want to burst VIAO's bubble but I got myself HP Envy 360 powered by AMD Ryzen 7 with 64 GB RAM 2 TB SSD hard drive. It has an amazing touchscreen display and it converts to a tablet as well. It is SUPER FAST and I only paid $1699 for it. It has a super premium looks too with all aluminum chassis.

    Did they fix the audio issues with this version? It seemed that the audio was low on the previous version. I am on the fence on this one. Need a reliable laptop but it seems all laptops including premium ones have quality issues.

      If you want a quality japanese laptop for work, buy a Dynabook X40L-M, it is a monster, super fast,light and 4 speakers Dolby Atoms, I have VAIO SX14 KachiIro the latest flagship, but my major daily work machine is Dynabook X40L-K. They give you 4yrs warranty worldwide, by far, I am so satisfied with that machine except it is not as sexy as SX14. (The major reason why I recently bought a VAIO). Dynabook=old Toshiba, now changed their ownership to SHARP.
