- Vaio is back for real this time. The new SX14 improves on the previous generation and introduces much more ports, the option for touch and a slightly revised design. Honestly, this new revision really does have a trickle of the Vaio legacy and it really shows.

I'm so glad that Vaio still exists. They made such nice laptops.
They seriously do! And even till now, this has a serious top performer in the CPU department. Vaio still has some magic there.

I really like Vaio. I had a 2009 SR that recently went kaput. I did not take care of that laptop either, it survived over ten years of abuse, very impressive. My plan is to pick one up on my next trip to Japan. If the travel ever opens again.

I bought a white model of VAIO SX12. It was so easy to disassemble that I chose the least storage option and later replaced it with a 1TB one. Xe Graphics can play FF14 at 60fps (in laptop settings).
The beauty of the housing is wonderful.
Is your Vaio the new model or previous generation? How much RAM did you add? How many screws were removed?

I purchased the Intel 11th TigerLake Corei7 1195G7 model (2021 Oct model in Japan).
I chose 16GB (LPDDR4X-4266) memory (memory cannot be added later).
It can be opened by removing the 14 screws on the bottom and putting your fingers on the keyboard surface on the LCD side and exerting force to peel it off.
No need to pry it out with a thin card or pick.
However, if you wait a little longer, you may be able to get one with a 12th generation CPU.
You replaced the storage with 1 tb. I'm not sure if the model S in 2018 can upgrade the SSD from 256 to 512 or 1TB as your latest model!

According to the internet, some people have replaced the SSD in their VAIO S series with a 1TB. Unfortunately, I don't own a VAIO S, so I don't know how easy that is.

How are the speakers? Do they get anywhere is near as loud or clear as the MacBook Air?

I wish they would make a 16 inch version. Great improvement over previous iterations but I'd wait for the Alder Lake versions.
I'm curious about the FE 15. It seems it's already out in Brazil and Middle East and coming to US via Walmart. I'm nervous the build quality won't be as premium because it's a very affordable model. I'm still using a 15" model from 2012.

My Same laptop shuts down randomly & unexpecyedly, iam irritated with this issue. It is very annoying issue. It was under warrenty when this problem occured and the retailers refused to do its service saying that the company has stopped manufacturing this laptop. I openend the Power & control pannel settings and changed them but nothing get solved. Iam very much irritated with this. Kindly try to help me solve this issue, if you are aware with such problem. Kindly tell me if it's due to Battery or what ?

Depends on how heavy a video project you’re doing. We recommend 1080p only.
Gonna be honest i thought Vaio was just a product line name used by Sony. They used to be pretty cool back in the 2000s, with small handheld pcs and such, and some pretty cool looking laptops. I thought itd have died out back in the late 2000s. Thats the last time i remember hearing it.

The SSD is upgradable
its looks not really useful to use the pen on a screen because of the non removable keyboard

Vaio is pure garbage even since Sony dump it
My z signature broke down within a month
Takes at least 3 months for to repair
And it’s expensive and shit service
Though it is well made, you cannot run away from the fact that this is an overpriced laptop for the spec.
Just like Vaio from the past.
It is meant to compete with the Thinkpad Line however i had a Sony Vaio for 10 years of almost non-stop hard use! Also they tend to have Sale eg. during Presidents Day etc where you can get it cheaper
It's just a piece of garbage. Battery went dead and caused system shutdown. Vaio support people can't even direct me to a reputable battery reseller. Quality built?
