@@karimessafi7439 I am not only talking about laptops. How often do you see Americans liking Sony Bravias or Panasonic Vieras? What is it that makes Korean televisions better than Sonys and Panasonics? Is that design? That is Sony's selling point. Is it picture quality? That is Panasonic's focus. Or is it a balance between those and good prices? That was Toshiba's and Hitachi's focus. Yet again American consumers forced them out of existence for no apparent reason. Or let's talk about phones. What makes huawei or xiaomi or samsung better than Sony Xperias or Sony Ericsson Xperias? Is it design? That only started as a point in 2017. Is it features? Nobody had more than sony in 2012. Or let's talk about laptops again. In this case you are right about them sticking to usability rather than fashion. But even that only applies up to a point. Remember Sony's VAIO S, Z, T and FW series? Those were some striking designs. Even Steve Jobs praised sony as having the sexiest laptops on stage when he unveiled the PowerBook G4. Same again with the circa 2012 lineup of Toshiba. And don't start about the prestige of the Chinese or the Koreans because Samsung didn't invent no Trinitron. And the exact same goes for European companies like Philips, Grundig, Telefunken, Bosch and Siemens. Better in every aspect than the Chinese and Korean knock offs, but again forced out of existence mainly by the Americans.

People here are being salty about its VGA and Ethernet existency while probably they're also hating Apple for removing 3.5mm jack lol
Of course, i like to see more Thunderbolt port here. By the way i like that screen bezel design, it looks kinda industrial. Unfortunately, that black plastic side and the bottom body make it look like a cheap laptop.
Actually it's great to see VGA here, here in my places VGA-powered projector are still being majority, just like the VCD existence.

How do you not have a HDMI projector? In a device that costs so much to maintain anyway, why?
My studio has even E-wasted multiple HDMI projectors after their globes blown. The projector argument had a little weight a decade ago, but now it's just really old tech.
Ethernet is a completely different discussion. Ethernet has a reason for being.

You know, i'm also wondering why, as a student of one of the most famous IT college in my country even still has all VGA-powered XGA projector in all of their rooms and buildings, and only some of them includes HDMI dongle. Yes, i've never seen an HD or Full-HD projector in my life.

This was by far the best looking vaio, however it had a bad reputation of wireless issues, and that's why it eventually sold for dirt cheap. The vaio pro 13 was technically the vaio z, the main difference was that the latter was made in Japan, while the former was made in China.

"That's where those other PCIE lanes go" No, it's not. The VGA and HDMI come directly from the integrated GPU, the USB is, well, USB, and the memory card reader is likely internally USB as well. The ethernet is likely PCIE based but it's 4 lanes at most. They COULD have included TB, they just chose not to.

Is it better than Thinkpad X1 Carbon? I can't think of a pressing reason to choose this over an X1. Keyboard is probably better on the Thinkpad, the display isn't probably the swaying factor. I guess the Vaio has more ports, but would you REALLLLLLY need that VGA even for professionals? The 4K display isn't even necessary and X1's 2K screen is probably more than enough; both also have 500-nit display options.

Well, at least for me, it's not a good PC, if it doesn't have at least traditional ports. Like on pcs with only USB-C, I find them to be bad, even if they have a op spec sheet.
I have said that towards the Macbooks, which are bad for me, even if they have an i7.
When I saw that laptop, this VAIO, I was amaze of a laptop with actual traditional IO in 2019, and I think that this pc is one of the most versatiles laptops (while being relatively economic and sturdy) of 2019
