- I had an issue with the throttle dying as I would accelerate. found the issue was a small piece of plastic called the brake pedal stop pad.it had broken off and made the
car think I was on the brakes all the time.made a temporary fix until the replacement part came in.

Mane this saved me. At first I thought it was my transmission cause after 2k rpm it would just cut throttle. Once I saw the break lights still on after I turn the car off and noticed I could push to start without the break peddle pushed down I knew something was up. Quick and easy fix. Didn’t take 15 mins

Bro, I watched this and it worked. I however got fed up after 5 minutes. I cut my hands and whatnot and thought there has to be a better way. There is! Your going to get pissed but here is how you fix it in 2 minutes. Get a foot of fishing string and thread the plug. Then go under dash and feed string through hole plug needs to go in. While holding brake down Pull! It snaps right in

This worked like a charm, thanks for the upload! I was shocked at the start of the vid when you described my exact situation on the RPM's dropping. Then i looked at the floor mat and the pieces were melted and separated from each other

So glad for this video. On Saturday while on the freeway next to the fast line my 2015 Mustang 5.0 lost power and would barely accelerate. Talk about freaked out. That could’ve caused a deadly accident. My push start button and my brake lights are still on even though the car is off. Going to dealer today for the recall. Come on Ford you got to do better.

Thanks for this video. I thought I had 2 separate issues: The lack of acceleration above 50mph and the brake lights issue. I now realize this is the same issue **ALSO Ford has now issued a recall for this brake pedal stop bumper. I received a notice in March2022. Recall Notice 22S02
This is a recall. This happened to my 2015 gt and i caled the dealership and they fixed it for free. Anyone with this problem should check for the recall and get it done

I had this issue with sudden loss of power on a hot day in September. Ford are completely understating this problem and even Engineers at Ford dealership seemed to be unaware of engine power drop; I was lucky no one ran into the back of me and had been on freeway earlier.
9:00 pm_ Sunday nite. Noticed brake lights were on thru laundry room window. Watched your video. Pulled brake toward me and lights went out. Had trouble to day with acceleration, didn't know why. Now I do. Will be interested in what Ford tells me.
Ford finally has issued a recall for this,the dealership should fix it for no charge.
Will this make your car start without pressing the brake? Having an issue with my 2019ford escape ... brake lights are fine , I get a code saying switch brake is out of range but the switch is new .. wonder if this can be the issue since everything else works just the car starts without pressing the brake

Possible Permanent Fix. Use a bolt and nut. Used this method on my 93 Honda civic. Brake lights stayed on when plastic pad stopper broke . Might need to adjust brake switch height.

I recently took my car to a Ford dealership I’m having the same problem they had told me it was the fuel pump but they haven’t acknowledge that the lights were still on I own a 2015 mustang

I have a 2015 V6. Same issue! Dealership wants near $600 to replace the entire brake light switch.
Check out the part 2 I made it should help out. Toyota Tacoma brake pedal stop pad is an exact replacement. Only cost a couple of dollars on Ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/392125676488.
Mines missing but has diffrent symptoms. Keeps saying my launch control had been disabled . Ordered a toyota stop pad last night.
@@writeupking I had that appear on my cluster as well. I also had "hill assist" disabled. The stop pad replacement should resolve everything.
@@marvin5336 me to, keeps saying no hill start assist . My brake lights are actually coming on delayed , like I'm having to push down further to trigger them so there are times I'm stopping and not triggering the brake light if I push the pedal soft. I replaced the brake switch , now the stop pads being mailed to me
Why not just bend the bracket till the brake lights go off. Stick a screw driver between peddle and the bracket, have someone stand in the back of the car and say "Lights are off" and never have to deal with it again. In the old days before you were born we didn't have cheep Chinese plastic crap.
