I don't even do gardening but I like to watch Asia's videos. First of all, the videos are very informative and interesting. Second, I like Asia's personality. She has a real down to earth personality. I can literally relate to her. As a matter of fact, I may try gardening next year. Also Asia is a great motivator of gardening. Thanks Asia.
Awww that makes me so happy to hear! I hope you do start gardening. You are so very welcome! Thank you for this comment!
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead It's the truth. You have a very good spirit and an aura of energy around you. It illuminates in you.
We are past our growing season of Alaska. Who wished that we weren't though.

Spring and summer will be back before we know it!!
Your parsnips will overwinter and should grow early spring. They are best if they can go through a frost . They become sweeter. If they grow, you will have them next fall. I love my parsnips!
Roselle and okra are Hibiscus plants. The leaves, flowers and pods are edible.
Hello Asia! I found you tonight through Exploring Alternaltives, liked your personality and subscribed. I have watched several videos of when you first began 2 years ago and will try to catch up to your newest ones as I have time. I also watch Roots and Refuge and a few others. I container grow on my deck at this time because I am too old to do the whole garden thing. Thank you for sharing your life and growing experience
I'm glad I found your channel. This is motivating me to step up my container game. I have far too many idle containers.
Always looking good in the garden. Let the sweet potatoes leaves die back but get them before the frost. 👍🏽
Sweet potatoes dig before frost. Or they wont be sweet
Ok, thank you very much for the comment. I want them to be sweet for sure!
Hi Asia. I found your channel today. I love how transparent you are. I've learned so much from your videos. Keep sharing. I love your videos.
Always love your videos! They are so relaxing and lovely! Cheers
That tomato hornworm comment had me laughing! True story! 😂
Thank yoy Asia, i wont pull my little kale stems😊❤ we don't spray either. Pick the sweet potatoes BEFORE first frost sweet lady 😘
I have wondered about eating loofa, I think I will stick to them being a scrubby. Thanks for being so real and honest. Be well!
Hi Asia! The garden looks so vibrant and luscious with all the new fall plants coming up! I'm here for it! Thanks for sharing your journey with us! 😊
Pick sweet potatoes before first frost, the potatoes will get frost bitten and taste bad
Ok thank you for the comment and information!!
You inspire me ❤ The garden is absolutely amazing!! Now let me go find something to plant in mine 😊
Love your videos! Last year I planted sweet potatoes and took the advice to dig them after the first light frost and the sweet potatoes turned black I since found out or at least what I am doing this year is pulling them before frost and if you can before the temperatures get in the 30’s (39) ❤❤❤ love the videos
Sweet potatoes will be sweeter after the first frost. Just don't leave till hard freeze.
Hey Asia!
The fall garden is growing fabulously! 👏
Thanks for sharing!
See ya next time!
Hi Nikki! Thank you!
Your garden still looks great! I think with the cooler weather there are less of those bugs that eat the plants, so now things have a chance to grow new leaves.
Thank you! Yep, I believe you are correct!
Slugs or snails devoured my. Russian kale . It’s comforting to see how much your’s have grown. Harvest those sweet flowers! Although I have heard people do overwinter a few to have in the spring. Go ahead pull them.
Awww I’m sorry to hear about your kale.
Great video ❤
Thank you!!
always a good vibe from this channel!
Awwww thank you!!
Don’t leave the sweet potatoes until after frost, they’ll get bitter! Peace-
Okie dokie! Thank you for the comment. I definitely do not want to bitter sweet potatoes!!
Don't forget to use your chicken poop as fertilizer!
Here in the UK they sell dried compressed chicken manure pellets at the store which is nitrogen, potassium & phosphorus rich made from just good old chicken poop!
To kill any pathogens for use when using to grow food you can collect the manure in a sheltered container so that the rain doesn't leach out the goodness & mix soil with it every so often & let it break down over time & by letting it bake in the sun.
This natural process kills the pathogens over about 18 months & makes it usable. UV lights can also do this over a much shorten period.
If you label the containers with dates then rotate them out after a couple of years you will have lots of fertilizer every spring & summer.
If using for non-edible plants just go ahead & use it as it, so no need to kill the pathogens just make sure your dog etc. doesn't eat it & that you wash your hands regularly.@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
Fishe mulsion Yes!! I use that as well. Love your garden!
Welcome back baby veggies, ❤❤ not a sprayer also #blessings
Girl this accent! Love it!
Hey Asia. Looking forward to the video 😊the garden is looking absolutely beautiful.. I think it’s a zipper spider ☺️😊
Hey 👋🏾! Happy to hear! Thank you! Yes, it the zipper spider…thank you! I don’t know why I couldn’t remember that lol.
The garden looks great👍🏾😊
Thanks Michael!! How’s your garden coming along?
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead Im dealing with ants and a mole which uprooted 2 small pepper plants. As far as everything else its going good😊👍🏾
Dinosaur kale is amazing!!
I always enjoy your videos !
Hey Asia the garden is looking good
Jerusalem artichokes get sweeter after the first frost but I think it's better to harvest sweet potatoes 🍠 before the first frost. I like your harvesting / kangaroo bag 👍🏼
Ok thank you!
Pick your sweet potatoes 🍠 before the frost.
Sorrel is a favourite traditional Christmas drink in my country 😋🇹🇹 but it can be dehydrated and used anytime during the year. It also makes a delightful liqueur😋
Hi honey, the garden looks great ❤
Beautiful garden
Love your videos. I garden year round I central NC.
Keep filming I love your videos on gardening in a small space ❤
afternoon from Watertown NY
Argiope spiders! Did you know each one makes a different "stitch" in their webs? Like a signature!
Ahhhh! That’s it’s I could not remember that. I did not but I think the webs are so cool. Thanks for sharing!
Oops my bad. Yes dig up kumara before the first frost. Make sure you leave them in the sun for 3 or 4 days to "cure". They will be sweeter. It's new Zealand yams you leave until after the first frost when they'll double in size. Both are long crops like pumpkins. Take forever 😂
🤣 no worries! I did leave them in the sun for about 4 days after I harvested them!
@@YellowDoorUrbanHomestead 🥰
Love me some 511. But I buy whats on sell. Is it weird I loke the smell of gish emulsion? 😂 It reminds me of the ocean.
Be careful the spiders aren't the ones that are harmful to your dog. Mine got bit by one and ended up at the vet.
Sound like your chicken was trying to get your attention. 😊
Same here! It’s probably my favorite fertilizer. Lol I wouldn’t say weird but o my 🤣. It smells terrible to me.
Ok will do! Thank you for letting me know.
They were! They are always talking when I’m out there lol.
Hey Asia, your garden is looking good. 😊
Hey 👋🏾! Thank you!
Brava friend! Maybe it’s an orb spider. I hope you an catch the birth on video! 💜
Don’t forget you have to cure the sweet potatoes 2-3 weeks and the curing process is what allows the starches to convert to sugars. You need warm humid conditions to complete this process. I don’t see how harvesting them near or after your first frost would allow that. September especially, but also through early October really is ideal harvest time for sweet potatoes. I would pull them if you haven’t already done so.
Thank you for this comment! I took your advice and harvested them last week. Thank you again!
Pick them prior to
Thank you!
Love the video, Looking good I have some collards growning indoors and some outdoors experimenting " Let the garden do what it wants to do"😆 my stringbeans, sweetpeppers still growning too
Thank you, happy to hear! Hey my whole garden is an experiment that turned out well 🤣🤣. O nice!
I love your channel, so thank you so much for all your videos! Did you start Roselle from seed?
Thank you! Yes I grew the roselle from seed.
I can’t believe you like those spiders😵
They cannot stay n mine. And, I know they’re good…..I KNOW!
But I can’t do it. Caynt won’t.
Imma mail you all my big yellow spiders 😬
Make hot sauces with some of your peppers...
Your garden looks great. Do you know what your plants?
Thank you! I’m not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if I know what I planted?
Lol I tried my smaller loofah/luffa too. It was bitter. I want to like bitter veggies because they are good for us but Yuck!
That squash is awesome. Is the texture like yellow squash or denser like a winter squash?
Hi Asia, I love green beans too. How do you cook yours? Thank you
Hi! So delicious out of the garden! I normally simmer mine on the stove with a little bacon grease, chicken broth, onions and little seasoning. I also add actual crushed up bacon to them.
Madame Asia, hello from 7b, greater NYC, your harvesting apron! I love it where is it from?
Hello! I got it from Amazon.

Where can I get roselle sorrell seeds. I would love to grow this. I am in zone 7b/8a like you.
Hi! I got the from Mary’s Heirloom seeds. They were fun and beautiful to grow!
Thank you so much. You are so incredibly inspiring. Keep up all the good work and sharing your journey. It is truly helpful!!!
What zone are you in? I'm having trouble in 7b growing roselle. This year only one germinated out of the pack I ordered online . Any suggestions.... thank you
I’m in zone 7B in VA. I’m sorry to hear that. I started mine inside when I started other summer veggies. Moistened the soil and covered the container with plastic wrap to hold the moisture in. I don’t remember how long they took to germinate. Hope this helps.
Is ur rosella in the ground or a pot ?
They are in ground in a no dig bed.
What is the name of that squash. Please 😊
The squash is named Tromboncino squash. Really cool to grow!
What state are you in?
I’m in VA
Why would you leave a pest in your garden. ?
Which pest are you referring to?
The spiders
Eating loofah??? That does not sound pleasing at all. I’ve never tried it, so I guess it better not knock it. But I’ll take your word at it. Lol.
The garden looks great as always. Did you plant beets? I heard you say you were gonna try again. Some of mine germinated, and are growing okay. But even if I only get those luscious beet greens again, I'll be happy.🥬🥬
Thank you! I did! They are interplanted in the beds. Didn’t want to take up too much space with them because I’m not the best at growing them lol. O nice! I’m happy to hear yours are growing. I totally agree. The leaves are delicious! Happy gardening!
Where did you get the roselle plant from Maryland I want to grow it
I planted them from seed. I got the seeds from Mary’s Heirloom.
