Please, don’t do this people. Put simply, if your console is shutting down because it’s overheating, then It’s faulty and you should get a warranty replacement (assuming it’s within the warranty period).
Watch gamers nexus and digital foundry. The Series X has an excellent cooling solution that’s very well designed and does it’s job. Again, if it’s overheating IT IS FAULTY!

No it’s most probably down to bad thermal paste or not spread properly and dust clogging PSU and Heatsink. I’ve done mine for my son and he’s it’s working like brand new and back to silent running.

I got mine from the pre-orders last year and have not had an issue at all with it overheating.... if you keep good airflow around your console and allow for proper discharge of air unlike in this video where he is crowding the series x, I play Destiny 2 sometimes 8+ hours a day with the wife on her series x and neither one of us has seen any of the issues that are being described in the comments, I work in IT and server rooms and really understand that equipment needs room to breathe. so give your console room to breathe they are design to run a warm in a well ventilated area.

Console has loads of airflow around it ,its also sat on a roll of tape to give it a bit more height and that gives it better airflow as well ,even Gaming Nexus said the console has bad airflow .

@@k3nn3hakak34 I've watched the Gaming nexus reviews, and thermal tests, this is not true! He clearly states, keep it away from where hot heat can re enter the console, you have the ps5 and series x side by side.. both venting out hot air.. so that's only going to cause both machines to run hotter.. ps5 vents from the back.. downwards, causing the xbox to suck up the hot air.. and the xbox vents from the top.. causing the ps5 side vent to suck up it's hot air.. Terrible setup!

I just want to say if your series X is overheating it’s a Defect or user error or maybe the console is too Dusty and blocking up the heat sink. Please no one do this as Series X as optimal cooling with the standard fan. It’s been designed to channel air in such a way and your blocking that. Again if it’s overheating then it’s a defect user error or it’s Dusty. Note If the console is hot it doesn’t mean it’s overheating. If it shuts down and tells you it’s overheating then you go do something. But the more Heat you feel coming out the better

I've seen external fans that plug into the back of the series x and still give bad extra cooling the external usb fan sits on top as shown and pulls the air out which brings the temp down where it's barely warm whilst playing demanding games .

  • @trilexfix

What I would feel is a better fix is to clean the heatsink clean the old thermal paste on CPU make sure old thermal paste doesn't have any bridging on the capacitors any apply new high performance thermal paste on the CPU, maybe even ultrasonic the fan if you can or give it a 99% alcohol bath to make sure it's super clean or buy a new fan altogether, that is designed for it, I don't suggest this. Maybe as a last and final resort if you live in over 100 degree climate 5 or 6 months out of the year.

My Series X is running fine, but adding onto the cooling system wouldn't hurt. I think I'm going to put the Series X on a mesh desk and put a fan on top of the system. That way, I suppose the fans will be able to blow more air through the console if it's elevated.

Just put it in horizontal position and u will be fine if u want cool air coming out of it!Thoose huge hools on top and on side and bottom of the xbox series x serves for something! Hot air is supposed to come out from this console plus there's a vapor chamber inside !

I've got some pc fine dust filters and was thinking the same but decided to leave it as it is ,if and when i do get a 3d printer as can't decide on what one yet i'll make some kind of stand as at the moment its resting on top of a roll of tape shown in my previous vid and a kind of top cover to blend the fan with the series x .But what put the series x through its paces is flight sim which is out on 22nd July ,i''l try it without the fan on top to see if that brings the series and how much heat that creates .Then plug the fan in and see if it gets warm at all running at 60fps 4K as when this fans plugged in its super cool to the touch .

Best thing you can do to keep an Xbox Box Series X cool is DON'T MODIFY THE COOLING SYSTEM! It was engineered to direct air flow in the proper places, changing that airflow can cause premature component failure... Stand it vertically and don't crowd stuff around it. (Like this guy has his standing in a corner next to another heat generator... BAD) We live in a rural area, in an old house without any air conditioning but good air flow. Our computers, electronics and gaming devices function fine, even in the summer because of good airflow around them. Like any electronic device, it's good to keep them dust free as possible, so filters are okay (as long as you remember to clean them) but modifying the cooling system is pretty much a NO-GO. It's not rocket science.

Nothing to do with the overheating but is your Xbox connected to the internet using an Ethernet cable?
I’ve had to remove mine and use the WiFi as it constantly disconnects or slows down with a wired connection.

    • @youandiryan
      @youandiryan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

My Xbox always is and almost always will be connected using ethernet. I absolutely hate Wi-Fi. Through Ethernet my Xbox downloads anywhere from 600mbps to 1.1Gbps. If I use Wi-Fi this is drastically reduced from 100 to 300. Wi-Fi is good only if you have to use it. You should always use ethernet when and where you can. For example if your neighbors are running on a 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Channel, this could interfere with your 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz and cause your Internet to slow. Over ethernet you get no such interference. The only devices in my house that use Wi-Fi is my phone and tablet. Everything else I will only have on ethernet. Ethernet is just better and faster.

There are two revisions of a Series X as there are two revisions of the PS5. Mine is March 2022 Rev2 with post Covid sourced better quality components. Mine is also totally silent and has the "anti heat soak" fan off design as an added benefit. When I turn mine off it still draws 30 watts and the fan still continues to spin for 2-5 minutes depending how much load I had the console under prior to switching off. Rev 1 units from 2020/2021 turn off the fan immediately and the heat soak in the CPU/GPU/RAM area is well above rated limits. Over time this is what fries the thermal paste. Combine this with early Series X "lower" quality components and I can see why you stuck that fan on top of yours! PS5 is better as it uses liquid silver however even these will begin to start failing dependent on use and loads prior to switching off. So. The Rev 2 Series X are excellent and the one to buy. LIKE THEY ALWAYS SAY..............."NEVER BUY THE FIRST ITERATION OF ANYTHING!" Always wait for Rev 2 or even 3. LOL.;-)))

Don’t do it. If your console is overheating it’s a defect or user effect or maybe it needs cleaning because it’s dusty etc. And please remember it’s not overheating unless the console is tells you.

It sure does bud I played hrs with it on then took if off to as to see the difference .The temp went way up and the left side started to get very hot again so input it back on and it brought the temp way down that the left side was barely warn .But remember to have the fan so it's pulling the out and not pushing it in ,I've also still got it on a roll tape to keep the intake higher off the surface that it's sat on . Theres also a vid on my channel showing that as well ,yeah looks crude but it works well and even better with the fan sat on top .

Do you have a series x if you do and its not having any issues then great news for you bud this is for people who want a quick fix for extra cooling in hot areas .I said it from day one of console showcase that the Series X stand is inadequate for the job .Even other hardware users builders have said the same thing .

@@TheJms1977 If you go watch gamers nexus series x heat testing you will see at 24 mins plus he even says that the series x could have a better cooling solution and as a gamer who's been building gaming pcs for over 26 years i know about cooling a rig down ,The series X could of had a better cooling solution than what it has now ,with more air in take which you would get if the series x stand was a bit higher .

Sorry to hear that phone m$ support and get xbox repaired or if they can't do that your get a replacement .PS5 is a good system and I've heard that some have issues with that as well . I've also got a Series S in the bedroom and to be honest that's more stable than the Series X and yes I know it's less powerful but still a great system .Have you tried placing the Xbox on something so it's raised abit higher when vertical ,also try keeping the Xbox on top of a unit or table and not in a cabinet .
