hi i have a question why is my ps4 fan loud and spin fast i clean the back vent and heatsink i put some thermal paste swap the hardware i have a another ps4 that i took apart and swap the part anyway im thinking about factory reset my ps4 could it be a software issue?
@JakeSheringPlayz it could also be the model of ps4 pro cuz new ps4 pro model has no fan noise and older has loud fan noise idk if thats true or not my ps4 model number is cuh-7216B
I just use a vacuum hose on the outside holes every 2 weeks to a month depending on your situation. Since I live in my sisters basement rn . I do it every week . Keep this up and u won’t have to worry about the dust sticking to the fan or any components inside the console .
I was surprised when I opened up my original ps4, to give it a cleaning, with how little dust was inside. Always good to keep the area around electronics dust free.
@@bryandrobny7690 interesting. I do a fan blowing toward the console, which definitely helps with cooling. Another reason I expected the inside to be really dirty. It gets very hot without the fan but my ps5 runs much cooler, and no coil whine. Maybe I'm lucky
I'd be very careful about breaking that seal to open the console and only do it if absolutely necessary. I was on the Xbox team in Seattle for 8 years and I know that when people would send in OG Xbox or Xbox 360 consoles for repair and they had that seal broken, the repair centers wouldn't even touch them. They'd just send them back with a "cannot repair - warranty void" note. I don't know if anything's changed with the Xbox One or Series X as I left before those were released, but I know that breaking the seals on the older consoles definitely prevented them from ever getting repaired by MS. I can't speak to the legality of it, but I know that's how things used to work with MS repairs. Excellent video, by the way!! I've been a huge fan since I first saw one of your repair videos months ago. So fascinating to see you disassemble and repair these devices. I can't get enough!
Surprisingly enough, this is the only console in my entertainment center that sits up vertical. I stopped setting my systems vertical after my OG Wii suffered from so many falls from around the house. But because of the shape and the fact I know it won’t go falling over by others, I feel more comfortable sitting this one up.
Mine sits vertical too and this thing is so boxy and the base is a perfect square so it won't fall over. I actually like the look of this thing when it's vertical when it's on it's side it looks weird.
I've discovered that you can aim some canned air between the fan blades and down through the heatsink, then you can use the flat end of a vacuum attachment and vacuum out the back, it actually spins up the fan but you can use the long red nozzle from the canned air to keep it from moving. Don't even have to take the back off haha.
Keep the vids rolling. You educate so many of us, and prevent would be disasters from ever occuring. Your step by step walkthrough opened my eyes. You make it look so easy and with your step by step explanation of each moment in every step breathes confidence into your viewers. Stay Gold!
I find the thing I struggle with most with the XSX is environmental dust settling on the top of the fan from sitting in the vertical position. Normally a quick blast of compressed air will clean it right out.
From a uk point of view the ps5 is better to clean you can remove the fan without voiding warranty and clean though the hole there, the xbox needs to be opened up so its void.
These videos make me really want to get into the repair business I've spent so much money replacing controllers and consoles when I should've just fixed them myself!
i clean my series x almost every day i just use a microfibre cloth with swiffer. But i can see there is dust on the heatsink but i dont want to open it. Because it will void the warranty.
a great way to prevent major dust build up is to just go over the thing with a brush every day. and maybe a light vaccume that wont annihilate your xbox components
I coincidently just performed the level 1 cleaning today... Only one month in, I was was very clean. Just a reminder that should be obvious, but some people forget: It's just important to keep the surrounding clean. I clean the piece of furniture where the console is one every single day
I love my series x just got my replacement one from repair center on Saturday. But when I hold my ear on the left side of the console I can almost hear a electrical buzzing not audible unless I hold my ear to it. The fan sounds real quiet. And every working but should I be worried about that noise ? Hoping to hear from you real soon sir. 🙏
I think it's great how knowledgeable he is and how he can help other people. But I believe game consoles are not really designed to be open all the time, it's easier with a PC because they're actually designed to be open, one of the things I do is I save the plastic sleeve that the console comes in, modify it a little bit and you get a free dust cover and you will never have to open your console.
What would I have learn to become a technician like you? I've been really fascinated by technology and I really want to become an expert with maintance of hardware and being able to repair consoles, PCs etc. Any tips on what courses, or any skills I would need to learn?
Awesome video thanks for the information and breakdown of the console. Only question I ask is do you have a video for cleaning the Series S. Tha j you for the work you put into your videos.
I can't understand why these consoles aren't made to have removable cases that latches in order to keep them cleaned out..These consoles are getting more and more like PCs, so they really need to have this without it voiding the warranty.
ps5 have that. You dont need to take out the warranty sticker to clean the fan. Beside, you wont have warranty for the whole PC, you only have warranty for each specific part. If you try to open an individual part like a PSU or remove the sticker on your RAM then they will void your warranty.
I just stop the fan with a plastic stick and clean the heatsink with my pc blower cleaner. I woul love to repaste the xbox with KPx Paste but its in warranty so i will wait. Not like its loud or anything:)
Hello Steve, your videos are very amazing and very helpful. And you're a good guy repairing electronics... If you Can, try to fix some playstation 3 I would like to see you try to repair ps3 consoles... Think about it.... Thank you!!
I don't understand how they didn't add dust filters, with those big air intakes on the top and bottom. I see cases where toddlers put things like marbles and stuff in there 😅.
The funny thing is you can't be any more clear or specific and I already had a few customers with dirty ps5 and Xboxes come in also had 1 ps5 and 2 Xbox come in with damaged flex cables and FPC connectors because they damaged them trying to "clean" the system and stripping screws along the way. They say I was a TH-cam video and it's really easy but I don't have the correct screwdrivers and then proceed to over tighten the screws so I had to drill the screws out.
I have tried over and over again to remove the fan but the 3 screws keeping the fan in will not come out at all i have tried so many times its like there glued in and my fan is covered in dust
Step 1 get in shower with it in ur hands Step 2 pour shampoo directly into the xbox Step 3 rinse until water runs clear Step 4 plug in xbox so fans can kick in to dry it out 🤣😂🤣😂
Can you try and use a m.2 extension and try a bigger nvme I think if you cloned the original drive then expanded the user space partition with a partition tool you could probably have a 2 tb or larger nvme drive in there
Thank you for this video, man. Really helpful. Also, is it 100% safe to use vaccum cleaners on electronic products like Xbox Series X? Are there any precautions I need to take? Thanks.
Theoretically speaking, If someone was to get a bit of water in the top where the fan is, what should they do to make sure it it completely dry before turning the console back on? I immediately put the console on its side and then got a hair dryer and dried up as much as I could see ( I think only a few drops went past the fan )

TronicsFix why is series x easier to clean than ps5?
Just did mine after watching this. Easy explanation on how to pull it apart. Took me 10 min to pull it apart and back together. Thanks mate
Definitely cleaned my series x. Very dusty but totally worth the cleanse. Too much dust hinders performance and causes other issues

Does your environment have any carpeting or fabric furniture? Those usually release a lot of aerial particulates and trapped dust.

It's amazing to see how easy the Xbox SX is to access the parts
Yeah that's some good design
Agreed
If your brother throw the cup of water on the floor your xbox is dead
@@izris2756 You throw a cup of water on any console it's probably dead. Especially if it's turned on.

Yes, that's common. You've got it figured out though!
Cough series X is a better engineered console. Cough. Not interested in console wars but facts are facts.
I couldn't get the middle screw for the fan to unscrew and I'm afraid if I try any more I'll strip it entirely. Everything else was good though :(
HI Theres a plastic plate over the right hand screw and i cant seem to get it to budge?
What bloody tool is it to get the first screw out? I’ve tried loads but can’t find one that fits, plus I think I’m just rounding it off at this point

Fake tronics, your name would be in blue if you were real replying to a comment on your own video.
Steve you should do somethings with older systems I'd like to see a xbox 360 original tear down and cleaning anyway big fan shows awesome
Yeah do that
ps3 is needed to as it has the worst flow design ever in a console...

Never use a vaccum on any computer or console unless it's a static free vacuum.
I didn't know about the legal part. Awesome info man!
Seems like a lot of people don't. Glad you enjoyed!
I've heard it's bad to use vacuums on electronics because of static issues. Is that not true?
A quick blast of compressed air on the top and the back cleaned it right out
Very nice video again. When my friend who owns a xbsx gets into overheating problems i know where to clean 👍🏻 keep up the good work
Thanks! Glad it's helpful.

Gotta give it to this console, it doesn’t attract a lot of dust at all. Had mine since launch and it has barely a spec of dust on it.

Can you put some sort of filter on the vents to prevent insects from getting inside the console?
Depends on what kind of insects. Most insects will still get in if they really want to.

can you use compressed air? i have some that’s meant for electronics, but is that “bad” for the console?
Yes it's easy. I do use an air compressor, blow air from bottom no need too unscrew the thing.
