You shouldn’t need the monitor. You should just use your phone and its camera. There is an app for that of course. There is an app for everything.

What if your phone so old, it can’t even support the app to even download your phone.? What if you hate too many apps on your phone and don’t want anymore .?

Thanks! I installed this on my parents van, which gets parked in the garage (dark) for long periods of time. It still does well, but if the battery does due there is a USB charging port on the underside that you can recharge it from.
As far as if the camera's manufacturer is paying me; no they aren't.... but if they're reading this and they want to send me a check I won't complain :-)

Amazon does not have them anymore, tried the link. Just ordered from Walmart. My 2017 F-350 PSD, DRW Super Crew Long Bed did not come with a backup camera but my wifes 2015 Teeny Honda Fit came with one!!! Makes no sense LOL

The battery is built in, and charged by the solar panel so it’s not replaceable.

Excellent job on vedio. 1 question, is it possible to connect 2 cameras to the monitor? I want a front viewing for the front to see the curb, and a backup camers. If naybody has tried this, send me a link for the camera manufactuer.
Actually have another version: th-cam.com/video/F9--EkYHkkg/w-d-xo.html What allows you to hook up two cameras, I swap them around on my car, truck, and trailer, they were great. They actually have better range in the old ones, And higher resolution.

You might be better off with a wired camera, but you can charge this one via USB port if needed.
You mentioned in the other video ($30 camera) that you used a wireless camera and it had issues connecting , is this it? Trying to decide on wireless or not, just want something reliable.
No this isn’t it, the other video was from several years ago. Wireless tech has certainly gotten better since then.

This is an analog connection, not digital. There is no noticeable lag.
Would this be a good ideal for a wrangler that’s license plate is towards the bottom left of that car ?
Ideally you’d want the camera at the center of the back, it it would still work to one side.

I decided to man up and go with the Auto-vox W7 . It’s wireless but I have to get power from my reverse light behind my taillight. They make and easy wire connection for the splice. 👍

The camera angle can be changed, so you can angle it downward to see your hitch.

Any advice on getting the suvtion cup to stick? I couldn't mount it to my car.. wouldn't stick. I tried center console first then tried glass but it wouldn't stick

No, these do not.
I had one of these for my truck and it stopped working after a couple months. Water got into the solar panel and the image stopped showing one day.
In Texas the state troopers love to pull over anyone that has a license plate frame covering any part of the license plate. I noticed this camera covers part of the plate.
and they say it's bad here....

WARNING: may not be suitable for colder climates. I have 2 of these cameras; bought one and the company replaced it when it stopped working. Both are non-functional now. I'm assuming there is some correlation between cold weather and the cameras malfunctioning as the wintertime was when they both stopped working.
Battery prolly froze and popped.
The best idea would be to connect to your smartphone
Those cameras are a complete pain, every time you get in your car you have to fire up an app, connect to the cameras wifi network..... no thanks.

@@DoItYourselfDad my only concern with this is that I own a pickup not a car. Most license plates on a car sit flush on the bumper with nothing along the bottom of it to cause an obstruction, on a truck the license plate sits back in the bumper so I'm concerned the solar panel on the bottom might prevent it from properly installing.

The system is fine, BUT...it covers up part of the license plate information. Is this legal? : /
This one covers less of the plate than the stock frame did, there's nothing obstructed, nothing illegal about it.

No worries at all, I taped the plate because it wasn’t my car. Didn’t want to plaster someone else’s plate number all over my channel l.

It automatically turns on, you can also manually turn it on if you want the view when not in reverse. Pretty nice setup.

It’s wireless, it doesn’t use Wi-Fi.

I bought camera and did not like so am going to return. However, apparently, although, package was sent from California I have been informed that I have to UPS to Guangdong, China. Also, according to email I will be charged a shipping fee of more than 20 USD and a fee for returning. Unreal, not happy. Taking it to UPS today.

Your mileage may vary.... but that camera is still on my parents van and still going strong. I actually borrowed the car last weekend and its still working fine. How far will the wireless work? will it work on the back of a 5th wheel trailer?
Not sure, we didn't try it further than the van. I did put a wireless camera on the back of my toy hauler and it's don't well, but it was purpose-made for trailers with a separate antenna on the camera.
