GUYS! UPDATE! Amazon shocks can no longer be trusted, you have to buy high quality OEM shocks from a real parts supplier like sears or appliance parts pros. Amazon shocks are now junk out of the box. DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN THE TOP BALANCE RING! That's not trapped water, the water IS the balancing median in the ring. The real, safe solution is to fix the actual problem, the bad shocks. Thanks guys!
@konradhof7318 check out the update in the description. Amazon shocks just can’t be trusted anymore. Yes my experience has been the OEM shocks will fix the issue.
Right because I changed, mine still does it.
@@joshcobb4100could you elaborate on why the shocks can no longer be trusted? Just curious
I have bought and returned every set sold by just about every seller and they are all bad out of the box (Samsung shocks). After about 10 times I gave up. Same with eBay. Aside from trial and error I don't know what the issue with the supply of non OEM parts is, probably just like everything else being made right now.....Cheap.
Can you tell me a site that I can get good parts
Our Samsung washer was delivered & installed just two days ago!!!! It has a loose, springy inner tub as described in this video!!!! The machine would not go onto either the rinse cycle or the spin cycle. It would just STOP!!!!!!!
This is a spanking brand new machine!!! WTF??????
I feel empowered knowing what’s actually wrong with it!!!
Keep up the good work, Josh!!!! Thank you!!!!
❤💘💘❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Same shit in dealing with brand new
Dang brand new machine with bad shocks out the box??? I’m hearing this more and more with everything these days….something has got to give y’all.
@@joshcobb4100literally same situation here
Thanks for posting this video. For about $40 and 20 minutes of work, my washer is now working perfectly . Thanks!
How is it working after 3 months?
@davewhalen5981 with OEM shocks I’ve got a few still running years later. Amazon shocks are bad out of the box.
Thank you for this video. Gonna save me tons of money just soing it myself. TH-cam videos like this are what we want as a community, thank you.
wish I would have seen this video before I paid $125 for Best Buy to come out and tell me that the stabilizers need to be replaced. But so glad that I didn't pay the extra $500 to fix it on top of the $125!!! Just ordered the parts on Amazon. Thanks!
Same here! So glad I found this video! Thank you!
I would rather have an old school washing machine, they seem to last longer without any problems
This is 100% truth my friend.
Thanks for the vid!! Strolling thru the comments I can see many solutions I need to try. Our washer is constantly off balance and I’d say we spend more time adjusting the load than washing laundry. Super frustrating!!
If your Samsung has that upper balancing ring that is filled with water, do the 8 hole drilling procedure (very easy and no cost) to drain that water. My Samsung used to slam and shut off with failure codes. Now it's operates normally. There's a video on it, but read the comments. Something like 250 to 0 that it works.
I was having the same problem I watched the how to video, drilled mine today and now it stays level, clothes are no longer soaking wet after spinning & the awful banging noise has stopped. If you shake/rock the drum you will hear the water inside.
This fix releases the water that gets trapped.
Thanks for the short video, I need to see if it was something I could do without getting overwhelmed with a detailed step by step 20min+ tutorial... Got mine fixed.
Between the bottom plastic washers, there is literally a black foam piece that is worth nothing that I added paper towel pieces to keep it from easily sliding up and down the rod. This helped out tremendously and washer stopped going unbalanced. Super simple and easy fix!
Did you still replace the spring rods or did the paper towel trick fix the whole problem?
I only replaced it the small foam pieces
@@guadalupearredondo3573 thank you!
Wow these washers turned out to be defective i heard 2020 and 2021 builds were recalled
Spent $800 on Samsung ActiveWater Jet 5.5cu... what a piece of crap. Spent even more time googling to unlock the immortal "Ub" code.
Oh..yeah distribute the load evenly. Everytime?? It takes an hour and half doing one load burning time and money
Bought a $400 Kenmore..works like a champ
Would stretching out the springs fix the problem instead of buying new ones?
This should not be a problem, Samsung should be responsible for covering these repairs of their extremely poor design.
Seems to be the world we live in, gotta do the best we can with what we got.
Completely agree. Stop building trash and bring back quality items.
Right, they sent a freaking sticker ti change which setting were which and it now has a warning about the lid being able to fly off. They should have done a recall and fixed the shit. $1000 washer back in 2013 and what a waste!
So what your saying is I’m going to laundromat today 😅
Done and Done without Samsung 👊🏻😎
Now to fix this pos!
So testing my drum by hand it has strong resistance up and down but side to side it feels like zero - rods still?
My rods came with a black tube around the springs. Do we leave those on or take em off?
You sir , are awesome ! Saved a bunch of money because of you!
Glad I could help!
Just got our replaces for $18 on Amazon for all 4 (50%off savings) and it was a 4.7 stars with about 1,500 reviews. Our Samsung was about 4 years old and YES I am that guy who overload mine quite a bit lol
Whts the link my friend
I recommend buying shocks OEM from Sears or appliancepartspros.com. Amazon is really hit or miss right now with cheap parts that are bad out of the box. FYI
What’s the link
Specifically for the Samsung wa50t5300ac - I tilted the two front legs (pretty high up and made sure they were even, and that prevented the washer from banging side to side (on the clockwise spin cycle).
Even when I changed the rods, it was banging.
The model I am referring to has a slant so it’s not like you can push a level on the top of it due to its slanted surface area.
Thanks. This fixed my Samsung washer. Was pretty easy. I did pull 2 of the springs out first...should do 1 at a time for easiest results.
Agreed. You can also use the old spring upside-down to pull up the new springs.
Worked like a charm! Thank you.
Nyogel 767A should fix the problem. The grease should help with the tension. Closest to the spring, make sure to grease the rod pretty good.
Hours and hours and hours down that road....I'd suggest just replacing them and save the headache.
Thank you so much for the video, I believe this is what is wrong w/ mine. I have sent this video to my husband.
make sure you get OEM shocks, not amazon. partsdr.com is my go to now.
For the DIY Guy's watching this at home, I have already thought of a couple ways to make the old tensions rods work like new again! Damping grease, new foam inserts, zip ties, or miniature hose clamps :)
I have tried all of these....I just buy from partsdr.com now. Have you had any success with your methods?
Do you have a video
@@anncrews4369 I only used 4 miniature hose clamps, with 1 attached to each of the spring plastic top hats, easy fix for a year, then need to tighten up the clamps once a year
I replaced my suspension rods and my washer is still thrashing around for some reason. Any other ideas?
I fixed mine, it wouldn’t stay balanced, after spinning clothes was still wet and the machine kept banging. All u need is a drill.
You have to get OEM quality shocks.
Did you find out the issue?? Mine is doing the same thing. Replaced all four of the springs with OEM parts and still get a UR code during the spin cycle.
@@jshomebuyer i ended up taking the entire thing apart and i learned that connected to the spin shaft was a gear type part was broken in 3 pieces. I knew thats what the issue was. I couldnt find a replacement so i ended up buying a new one, and not samsung. I will never buy another samsung of any kind
@@SicilianSVT thank you!! I won’t buy Samsung again either.
I replaced mine and ran calibration.
What else could b problem?
Thank you
Amazon shocks or OEM?
thanks man 😤✌️, i got a set of aftermarket from amazon, same problem still, out of balance,
Did you see all my updates about not buying Amazon shocks? Got to get OEM. I just got another Samsung washer in this week with the same issue so I’m gonna order OEM shocks and do a new updated video.
@@joshcobb4100 i have 4 of them with the same problem, trying to avoid paying 60$ per suspension rod .
@@joshcobb4100how did this work?
I wish you would show how to take the top of washer off😢
I’m going to try to be more thorough in my future videos. Thanks for the feedback
I have a different issue - our clothes come out from the washer with spots of lint! We hang dry a lot of our clothes and once they dry, the lint can usually be rubbed off but it’s such a pain. I have been trying to figure out if the washer has a lint or debris trap but can’t find one. Any help or ideas?
Me too!
Planned Obselesce..Don't but shock drum washers in the first place..
So I replaced these and it didn’t fix the banging during spin cycle, any ideas? I’m looking at the bottom motor assembly and I can’t see anything visibly broken maybe a bearing or I see this electrical assembly with a metal wire attached to a spring not sure what it’s called or exactly what it does? Any ideas?
If you bought your shocks off Amazon for a Samsung washer they were probably bad out of the box. I recommend buying OEM shocks from partsdr.com or some other reputable OEM supplier.
Thank you for this buddy!
How did you get the top off?
Two large screws on the back each side.Phillips head and 5/16 nut..
You got it
Thanks so much for this video. This saved us so much money. Easy and inexpensive fix!
So what if you have replaced the 4 struts and it still comes unbalanced
For Samsung you need to get OEM shocks. Can’t do the Amazon ones anymore.
thank you Josh
My pleasure.
Thank you so much for your video. It was greatly appreciated.😅
Would this also cause water to leak from bottom right front? Mine shakes like crazy and now is leaking.
Depending on how violently it was thrashing around it could have knocked a hole in the plastic tub. Or it could be sloshing water out over the top.
What if these were replaced about 2 weeks ago but the washer is still constantly going off balance? Tried smaller loads, different settings, changed amount of soap, tried only cold water, nothing matters. Every size, temp, cycle, amount of soap or softener, it still goes off balance every load.
Gotta get OEM shocks...the super expensive ones.
That's another 4 something 😢 Wouldn't it be better to just buy a new Maytag for like 550? (Found one at Lowe's)
I’ve replaced the rods about 6 months ago and it worked great. Well that was a temp fix because it’s back at it again. Samsung just makes junk
Amazon shocks won’t last, you have to get OEM from appliancepartspros.com or partsdr.com with the one year warranty.
@@joshcobb4100 I’ll do that today…..if that doesn’t work then I’m packing this thing with tanneries and launching this washing machine into space.
I can't seem to find a parts number for my Samsung washer model #
WA50R5400AV/US
any suggestions on where I can find this # for the suspension rod kit ?
There should be a two-digit numerical number at the end of that model number, sometimes off to the right a little bit. If it's 00, you need part number DC97-16350U and id suggest partsdr.com don't do Amazon they will be bad out of the box.
Washers should be able to wash blankets and such. Calling washing blankets “overloading” is insane. That’s what they’re supposed to do.
Sure.....20 years ago. Now, as much as it might stink to hear, the machines can't handle anything bigger than full or twin size. Of course by all means you can shove them in there anyway, but then you might be on the search for more videos like this a lot sooner than if you had not. You have a very valid point though, they should be able to handle it.
I have king size comforters and they are heavy and fill the washer so they are really too big. I wash them in there but it’s hard on the cheap plastic washing machine parts.
Thank for the video. Saved me so much
Glad it helped!
Who do you suggest we buy DC97-16350E from?? (Info. incomplete above.) Thank you for the video! :)
Partsdr.com
We put extra foam on the sides. It doesn't go crazy out of balance anymore.
Awesome!!
Where is the part number at on the washer
Check the back of the console
We changed ours twice and still the same thing what else can we do
Did you use OEM shocks from Samsung or PartsDR.com? Off brand won't last.
I have a Samsung active wash that randomly slings suds out. Would this be the problem?
Does the OEM Shocks are for all Samsung washers models?
I suggest using only OEM shocks for Samsung models.
Can you make a video on how to remove the top please
Yes, I will be doing more videos like this here soon when it warms up here a bit (I work in my garage, and it's cold out there)
These work but also recalibrate your washing machine as well
We did this (replaced the shocks) fix but now the washer won't come on at all. Zero power to the control panel. Checked the plug and the breaker - those are not the issue. I read something about a fuse - where would I find that on Samsung top load WA54R7200AW/US?
Not aware of any fuses that would keep it from having power. Did you check all the connections to the board? Sometimes when you take the top off it can pull out the connected wires on the board….or if you’re not really careful you can slice through the wires moving the top around. Might check those wires.
Thank you! I will fix mine asap
Thank you
No, thank you!!
Did that a day ago. No good. Used the green Amazon spring rods. Hate this Machine!!!
Gotta buy them $$$ OEM rods.
@@DJMadVibes1 i bought the aftermarket and installed them. The washer did the exact same thing. I got the OEM rods and installed them today, and the machine runs like normal again. I was able to find the oem rods on amazon.
@@insideoutsideupsidedown2218 Yeah, Im going to give it another shot and buy OEM Rods.
My washer wont fill up.. I get bit water n stops.. plus it's been noisy since I bought sounds like a helicopter.. do anyone know what can be wrong
I replaced my rods but it's still extremely loose any suggestions
Did you buy CheapO rods or legit rods? You have to get the OEM expensive ones for the Samsungs…the cheap ones won’t last but a couple loads
I replaced this and after a few weeks it started having the same issues
Gotta get OEM shocks...the super expensive ones.
Thank you I think this will help me a lot❤
I know this sux BUT works until u get a new washer, i found out that if you wash a normal load and listen for the ub ( banging) go stop it, take out the clothes after they wash and put a small amount back in on rinse and spin only. Or if yours is still rinsing, pause and put small loads on spin only on 16 seconds spin only option. It takes longer bc u gotta use small loads BUT they still are clean and the smaller loads will spin. And also recalibrate often, it takes 2 mins to recalibrate these. It sux but it worked for me until our new one comes. Btw new one is NOT gonna be a Samsung bf you ask 😂❤❤❤❤
Great tip!!! 👍
Thank you for this video and information.
CAN YOU PLEASE SHOW HOW TO TSKE THE TOP PART OFF
Was thinking the same...Looks simple enough , however its the most vital part; their are wires that connect to the control board did you disconnect them? Or is their enough play on the wires to just place the top on the floor like that? There is also a pressure switch that's connected. Dude, the most important part was left out of the video 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the suspension rods are easy enough to figure out lol.
Watched another channel figured it out and fixed my balance issues lol 😂
I only have these machines for a few hours before they are gone. I’ll be sure to include the top removal next time.
@@joshcobb4100 thanks bro I got it. There are 4 screws but you need to loosen the pressure switch and disconnect some ground wires and disconnect some additional ones by removing the back panel. The front two screws are underneath the rubber caps. The other two are under the control panel.
Great video. Very helpful. Thank you
I had mine changed while the Samsung washer was still under warranty. Within 2 months (after warranty expired) the UB errors came back. This top load is crap. I regret buying Samsung.
Awesome!
That's the problem I'm running into is the part number. The rods I have is about 27.5" long. I can't find anything out there
Just changed mine 2 weeks ago and it’s still off balanced
Gotta get OEM shocks. partsDR.com
@@joshcobb4100 nah I’m getting a new washer! I don’t have time for that!
Replaced them. DId nothing. Same problem persists.
Where did you buy your shocks from?
Whats the part number
Not sure. Follow the steps in the video to lookup your specific part number.
Just cuz it's out of balance doesn't always mean the suspension rods are bad I watched another video about the same brand Samsung washer and found out that you need to also check the nut under the agitator it's a left-handed nut mine broke in four pieces and that's all the problem was we've had it for five years and never replace the suspension rods yet
Witch video did you watched ?
th-cam.com/video/ek8HT9M3DFQ/w-d-xo.html
Good input! Thanks!!
Left hand threads? I just thought I tightened mine. Apparently I back it off even more. Sob
The agitator? So the blue piece where the agitator would go? I have yhe same one and it sucks
How does a spring on a rod go bad? They should last forever.. use the dampening grease and be done with it.. the nylon rings wont wear out but the grease will get displaced over time..
Awesome video.
great video, we did it thanks!
What to do if the issue persists after rod changing?
Were they Amazon or OEM?
I wonder how it would go shortening the rods that would add more stiffness to the stings.
The top of the washer tub wood hit the washer cabinet top.
Changed all four. Problem still exists.
Yep....Amazon shocks? I left an update....have to go OEM or it won't fix the issue. Can't trust Amazon anymore with their shocks.
@@joshcobb4100 gotcha. I will return these and get the OEM. Has Samsung upgraded them or is this going to be a every 2 or 3 year repair?
I’m going on 6 years on my replacement OEM shocks….Originals died in 2.5 years. So yes in my experience. I’ve had good luck on Partsdr.com
@@joshcobb4100 also, do I have to go to the Samsung site to get them?
@@joshcobb4100 I was able to get the OEM on Amazon. $71 a piece.
Mines doing the same thing... Will never buy this brand again.. Samsung should be ashamed
Yep...big time.
I cannot get the top off my machine.
All of them are a pain in the butt. Samsung’s typically lift up in the back and slide forward, whirlpools and domestics typically have a slide forward lift up process.
Dude fuckin lifesaver
Not overloading the machine! I already replaced with heavy duty shocks, did not work. It is junk and will be replaced within a year. I will never buy a Samsung washer or dryer again.
A lot of people unfortunately feel this way too. These companies need to step it up! Or drop the prices drastically on there products!
You left out one of the most important parts. Taking off the top. I don’t want to break it and it’s more the “a couple of screws!”
My bad….they are a pain to get off.
@@joshcobb4100 They are 2 screws in the front under the lid.
Two screws on the rear and two clips in the front that you need to pop to get it off.
Use a scraper or such to wedge into the front to pop the clips.
I bought off amazon…put them in didnt work🙄
Can’t use Amazon Shocks anymore. They are bad out of the box. Gotta get OEM.
Calibrate the spin cycle.
Then try
Bought the Amazon ones. It’s still out balance
Did you see my updated pinned comment?
My new ones lasted 3 weeks . And now I’m back to the unbalanced loads …
THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME
Gosh dang it.
Naw just gonna get a new one. I'm lost.👠
replaced rods. still won’t complete spin cycle.
You can try Google searching your model number for a spin calibration instructions. Some of them have it some of them don't.
I replaced mine, still shakes
You will want to check your tub hub.
@@joshcobb4100 ,ok thanks
@@joshcobb4100 do you have a video for the that?
I replaced the shocks, and checked the tub hub and still good. Any other recommendations of what it could be
Love you bro
Oh….well….love you too bro 😎
👍👍👍👍
👍
Never buy after market parts. Away OEM. Expect the High Price.
I 100% agree with you. Unfortunately, if you can’t afford the OEM parts you’ll have to buy the aftermarket stuff or look for hacks to keep that squeaky wheel going as long as possible. The trick is understanding that aftermarket parts are a temporary fix, and a real solution is the high prices of OEM parts. Is what it is. Thanks for sharing!
I dunno why samsung is having issues with their balance rods cuz i had a kenmore that had zero issues and used the same system with rods and all..
I did that and it was worse I must have bought dud parts
Can’t buy them on Amazon anymore.
Cheers mate I will do that.
Didn’t solve my problem, Still unbalanced. Samsung sucks!
Maybe an issue like the commenter below described?
Definitely the worst washer I bought. This digital junk are no good.
Did y'all calibrate the machine after changing the shocks.
You need to calibrate it.
Changed mine ages ago, calibrated the washer and been running fine ever since. It has been over 1.5 years.
i just had to replace the flexible drain hose on our samsung washer now this! its only around 5 years old what a piece of junk!
Welcome to the 2000's lol. (Unfortunately)
Dam Amazon even putting the parts repair shops out of business
Yep
Many of those shops are also selling through Amazon 😎
We replaced our, problem didn't go away, it became wver worse. Washer is more jumpy
You have to get OEM shocks from a reputable company, all the shocks on Amazon are junk in 2023.
It's a poorly designed friction shock absorber. Manufacturer should be embarrassed.
Definitely not buying Samsung household products again. Our fridge f up just like our washer.
Yep. My Galaxy phone works good tho....knock on wood.
Samsung washers suck. The worst. Always go off balance
I had an uncle like that….
Had mine for 11 years. Just replaced shocks 1.5 years ago. So that is nearly 9 years issue free.
No dramas with mine. After shocks changed, been running like new evr since.
These washers are absolute shit. Samsung needs to be paying my utilities for all the extra run time my washer racks up.
Send them a bill....let me know how it goes.
@@joshcobb4100 Haha, no doubt
Worst design i ever seen, 60 buck as of 4/2023.

I'll just buy a new washer after doing all of this. Screwing the top off ?? No thx
