Great review. Given it's their first attempt, this car is phenomenal. For people who can't afford a Porsche, who cares if it's derivative, most cars are to varying degrees. The exterior and interior look good on camera. I prefer the wood effect plastic over the shiny piano black stuff the more premium brands use. The soft hand grabs aren't such a bad idea. They're positioned at head height so bumping your head on a hard hand grab might occur, not a problem with these. That physical button add-on for the display screen should be standard IMO. The add-on display pads for rear seat passengers is great. It would be good if this was an option for the front passenger as well. I wonder how much additional down force that spoiler generates. I looks a bit like a gimmick🤔. I do worry about a greater incidence of high speed crashes in these powerful new cars. They're relatively cheap, ridiculously powerful, and perhaps instil an over-confidence in the cars handling and the drivers ability. A potential recipe for disaster. If you do a review of an electric car with the under-body LED's and NOX release add-ons, can you please shave your head, get a head tattoo, and some kind of edgy beard trim, and wear one of Wheelsboys Hawaiian shirts.

chinese consumers are just freakazoids now when it comes to new tech in general, esp when it's from a top domestic brand. e.g. shooting rifles on huawei mate60pro's to test its kunlun glass's extreme durability, even driving cars over it to see if it breaks, driving byd u8 on waters. basically just too extreme testing on national brands bc maybe they are already fed up with the image in the past that chinese products have been breaking down easily, etc. and they want to prove otherwise. in this xiaomi su7 case, i think many users really abused the brembo brakes too much by testing the braking distance and averaging more than 20+ tests to confirm the 33ish m result on paper. ofc others found this absurd bc you never do this to a toyota or an iphone just to prove a point but that's about it.
The brake failures were due to the brake pads not the brembo supplied callipers. And the videos of the pads disintegrating were mainly on track usage. LOL. I referenced the SU7 Ultra in this video...this video was uploaded a couple of months ago. The Ultra unveiled this month. I'm up to date on everything EVs. I'll no doubt see it at Guangzhou Auto on Friday.
Issues reported with "thin paint," build quality issues with the front fender panels which seems to pop off. And the biggest and latest is brake pads disintegrating (albeit from track use.) But as I explained in the video, although the performance of the pads only need to handle on-road performance demands, brake pads disintegrating in a single track lap still feels quite poor. And I think consumers were not impressed because how much advertisement showed the SU7 on track, and the amount the performance was talked about. This has prompted discussion on chinese social media talking about companies shoving so much power into these EVs, but neglecting the braking performance.
@@kevbrown1867 So brembo is a brake manufacturer and will design or sell calipers/brakes to OEMs. The actual issue with the brakes is not the caliper housing but the actually brake pads. They seem to be super soft to reduce brake squeal. But this means they don’t last long. Normally on road EV brake performance is a mixture of brake regeneration and physical braking using the pads. On track you can imagine people are turning off or turning down brake regen and the pads just don’t hold up to continuous high temp high pressure.

@@ChinaDriven So do I
Definitely won't be coming to Ireland, all we ever get is paddy spec run of the mill cars.
There isn’t really any roadmap from Xiaomi of taking its EVs abroad yet…
It is always Icarus for Americans if it is from China.
Well I'm not American...but I thought the Icarus reference tied in nicely with the concerns of the Su7 after launch on Chinese social media.
Why a cargo bin to go into another cargo bin (frunk) to make it smaller?
I think two reasons. One you can remove it and clean it easier. And secondly it makes the shape more uniformed
Why is Icarus black
he flew too close to the sun
hahaha, brilliant observation.

When you buy a car from TEMU.
Instead of copying a Taycan, they copied a tin can.
Old news. Didn't hear about the Su7 Ultra? Fastest 4 door sedan in the world, around NUrburgring, 0-100 kph in 1.98'. $114,000. Do try to keep up, laddie.
LOL. I referenced the SU7 Ultra in this video...this video was uploaded a couple of months ago.
The Ultra unveiled this month. I'm up to date on everything EVs. I'll no doubt see it at Guangzhou Auto on Friday.
Good gosh that thing is 41,000 usd, and would wipe out the market easily.
In China outside of China though their still inferior to tesla evs are 50-100% MORE. And good luck ever getting any service done on it!
So what's the criticism ?
Issues reported with "thin paint," build quality issues with the front fender panels which seems to pop off.
And the biggest and latest is brake pads disintegrating (albeit from track use.) But as I explained in the video, although the performance of the pads only need to handle on-road performance demands, brake pads disintegrating in a single track lap still feels quite poor. And I think consumers were not impressed because how much advertisement showed the SU7 on track, and the amount the performance was talked about.
This has prompted discussion on chinese social media talking about companies shoving so much power into these EVs, but neglecting the braking performance.
@@ChinaDriven aren’t these the same brakes on European luxury and super cars ?
@@kevbrown1867 So brembo is a brake manufacturer and will design or sell calipers/brakes to OEMs. The actual issue with the brakes is not the caliper housing but the actually brake pads. They seem to be super soft to reduce brake squeal. But this means they don’t last long.
Normally on road EV brake performance is a mixture of brake regeneration and physical braking using the pads. On track you can imagine people are turning off or turning down brake regen and the pads just don’t hold up to continuous high temp high pressure.
@@ChinaDriven 非常中肯的观点!
@@ChinaDriven So basically any family sedan that is taken to the track and ran like a F1 car would probably blow out their brakes as well
Western countries will find new reason to ban this car now. Even if they put 100 percent tariff they are still cheap. 😂. Western countries capitalism and globalization is only until the west is profitable but now when they are losing money they started taxing .. 😂
673 hp and top speed 210 km/h..!, Car from the company
Škoda Octavia diesel 115 hp goes 212 km/h according to GPS. This "Xiaomi" looks like a Ford Taurus 3 generation from 1996, especially at the back.
@@nurnberg1561 265kph for the max versions. But EVs are known to generally have lower top speeds. It’s just a weakness of single gear EV motors
All Chinese cars seems to amazing. Until they bring them to west and all is mediocre at best.
Some features are not able to be offered. OS systems are changed to be compatible with Google services, ADAS features reduced.
But which Chinese EVs do you think are only mediocre in the West?

First 2 minutes of video not needed. This is not top gear.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. It’s wrong but thanks anyways 😂
What do you mean "... or a poser"?
Isn't it true that 98% of Tesla3 Performance drivers bought the car because they couldn't afford penis enlargement surgery?
Still behind Ioniq 5/6 from Hyundai... hyped crap.
Tesla has Quality issues cheap quality 💩
Tesla specifies Brembo brakes.... So does Ferrari.
dont agree with the rear lights
It's fine to disagree. Beauty is subjective, and we if we all liked exactly the same things car design would be very boring.
Brake failure on racing tracks ..... Hahaha .... Those people should buy Ferrari and spend value of Xiaomi for a few laps and still potentially have a brakes failure for crazy money .....
yes it's a bit silly.
Which brand of brakes does Ferrari use?
Take a guess.
@@rogerstarkey5390 Brembo is an OEM parts supplier. Meaning they supply brakes to the manufacturers specifications.
People have moaned Xiaomi are way under sized. But the issue on track seems to stem from the pads.
Im gonna go w/ bubbles purge instead 2 remind ice cars 2 chill & not race an ev bc they'll loose!😙🫧🫧
It has just been caught testing in Barcelona with ccs charge port, 340kw charging speed
