The whole "China safety is poor or bad" is outdated. These vehicles are all developed with global sales in mind nowadays. So they are built to US and European safety standards. So even if the Chinese safety test is "easier" it doesn't matter becuase they aren't built to pass that test. They are built to pass ENCAP. And we can see the ENCAP ratings of Chinese EVs in Europe have a spectacular record. Tesla uses Chinese battery for their LFP packs in their European Model Ys...no one says anything about that. It's all a perception thing, based on history. Back in the day China could only really sell very cheap domestic products, because everyone wanted expensive foreign products. How do you make a car cheap or a TV? You use lower level of tech, so car safety was low because they weren't using the latest methods because it would make the products too expensive. Remember that if you take a car that got 5 stars in ENCAP 5 years ago, it probably wouldn't get 5 stars today, every year it moves on, and thats expensive for OEMs. Everyone applauds Volvo/polestar's safety and thats owned by Geely, and no one mentions concerns about Lotus safety even though again owned and developed by Geely. Or in London the black taxi cabs which are all owned, developed and produced by Geely.
I wouldn't really agree its more like a EV9, it's not an SUV. I think it is a modern interpretation of the VW bus the open space more in line with a micro-camper. I'd like to see, and I think with aftermarket we will do, more camp orientated fixtures. Maybe a camp focused sliding centre console. It's not the same as what the VW Buzz is. But I think in many ways the VW Buzz for all of it's leaning on the VW type 2 styling doesn't really capture what that vehicle was about. This does a better job.
These are the problems i have with this one: 1/ these doors are stupid. should have rolls royce style doors for less complication and cost cut. 2 too expensive, should have been bellow $35k instead of $40k.
The price was higher than I expected...I hear you about the doors but the sliding doors are pretty normal for MPVs/minvans, at least for the rear ones. The front passenger door sliding is just to get that larger opening. Drivers door isn't sliding.
Sure, there's a clip of the seats down with the official mattress from zeekr. But I think there may be better solutions from 3rd parties that use the boot and the rear seat area to create a place to sleep.
@@mikosoft “Wasn’t” is kind of key. Nowadays China is producing much better domestic products. Zeekr is part of Geely group along with Volvo and Lotus. And the London Taxi Company. I would t worry too much about durability.
looks like there are be an awful lot of small motors to drive all of that interior movement....lets hope they are reliable...but properly designed and considered package- shows how out of touch VW has become as it slides downhill.
It's a rear bench so it's three seats like a normal car. As for the boot...depends on your priorities i guess. The MIX is trying to offer something different. I don't think 568L is too bad, I've seen much worse. And that is not with the rear bench all the way forwards so technically there is more boot space to be had. Either way if you were to have a 1000L boot then you'd lose all the other things that make the MIX special. There are loads of EV MPVs on the market in China. This one decided to do something different.
@@ChinaDriven Thanks for a reply. Anyway, I'm actually glad there are some new models in compact MPV segment. I was suggested by the video MIX fixes IMO the biggest Buzz problem which are rear seats as a bench making it comfy but still designed for 4-passenger car.
@@brulsmurf Completely different to what? I assume you mean the ID Buzz… The Zeekr Mix is a 5 seat. Nearly identical size to the ID Buzz short wheel base which can be had as a 5 or 6 seater.
@ it’s a normal sized middle seat like you’d find on any normal car. This car is 1.995m vs ID Buzz 1.985m. So it’s going to be the same as an ID Buzz 5 seat rear bench middle seat…
@ What??? There are three seat layouts in the ID BUZZ. Short Wheel Base either 5 or 6 seats. Long Wheel base 7 seats. Zeekr has a larger 7 seat MPV called the 009. You can also get the Grand Edition with just two rear seats. The Zeekr Mix is the same size as the short wheelbase ID Buzz which has 5 or 6 seats. If this has 6 seats instead of 5 seats it would not be able to swivel the chairs and create a space like it can. The original VW bus was known as a camping, lifestyle vehicle. The ID Buzz leans on the original VW Bus’ styling with this futuristic retro feel, but it didn’t capture the original VW bus’ essence imho.
What "soul and charm" do you think the VW Buzz has over this? I mean the ID Buzz has some retro modern styling cues, doesn't really capture the essence of the type 2, and as an EV has pretty poor charging, power and range.
So you’ve driven the Zeekr Mix? VW has done a good job advertising the Buzz. But for me until they bring out a camping version or a more versatile version I feel something is missing.
The short wheelbase ID Buzz is around this size and it has only 5 seats. In China there so many 7 seat EV MPVs in the market in China, this is something different.
@@christophbehle4617 You are correct. Sorry. Zeekr did originally have a jump seat in the front row, but I think Chinese regulation doesn't allow this type of seat. The defender in China is also no available with this option. As for the 6 seat vs 5 seats. Zeekr could have 100% put a seat configuration similar to the ID Buzz 6 seat and joined a list of MPVs like that. This is something different, and I'm glad it exists how it does. Maybe they will make a 6 seat version at some point, but it would lose most of the interior functionality.

@@ChinaDriven it just increase costs with all those opening mechanics and look weird. a rolls royce style door would look cooler and drop cost
Is it possible to sleep in this car?
Sure, there's a clip of the seats down with the official mattress from zeekr. But I think there may be better solutions from 3rd parties that use the boot and the rear seat area to create a place to sleep.
VW ID has much larger luggage space, isn't it???
China wasn't known for durability of their products. Is there some kind of benchmark or baseline of how well this car could hold up over time?
@@mikosoft “Wasn’t” is kind of key. Nowadays China is producing much better domestic products. Zeekr is part of Geely group along with Volvo and Lotus. And the London Taxi Company. I would t worry too much about durability.
@@ChinaDriven that's the kind of information I was looking for, thanks!

Instrument panel and HUD? Hear that all you other EV wannabes.
Nowadays I'm unhappy when a smart EV doesn't have a HUD if it's over 200,000 rmb. It's nearly industry standard equipment in China haha
looks like there are be an awful lot of small motors to drive all of that interior movement....lets hope they are reliable...but properly designed and considered package- shows how out of touch VW has become as it slides downhill.
@@global_nomad. Time will tell
it will not be sold in Europe!
@@HansLak very unlikely. Unless MPVs suddenly make a big comeback.
The boot is a joke. Another big car for just 4 people as 2nd row doesn't come with 3 individual seats. Meh.
I was suggested by the video MIX fixes IMO the biggest Buzz problem which are rear seats as a bench making it comfy but still designed for 4-passenger car.
completely different product. 4 seats vs 6 seats.
@@brulsmurf Completely different to what? I assume you mean the ID Buzz…
The Zeekr Mix is a 5 seat. Nearly identical size to the ID Buzz short wheel base which can be had as a 5 or 6 seater.
@@ChinaDriven That middle seat is unusable for adults. Same as with the 7th seat in the Buzz.
@ it’s a normal sized middle seat like you’d find on any normal car. This car is 1.995m vs ID Buzz 1.985m. So it’s going to be the same as an ID Buzz 5 seat rear bench middle seat…
@@ChinaDriven Fine, then ist's a completely different product. 5 seats vs 7 seats.
It has no soul and no charme. I'll take the Buzz over this in a heartbeat.
What "soul and charm" do you think the VW Buzz has over this? I mean the ID Buzz has some retro modern styling cues, doesn't really capture the essence of the type 2, and as an EV has pretty poor charging, power and range.
@@ChinaDriven that's what you don't get. It has soul. I have never felt as good sitting in any ev as in the Id Buzz.
So you’ve driven the Zeekr Mix? VW has done a good job advertising the Buzz. But for me until they bring out a camping version or a more versatile version I feel something is missing.
😂😂😂 id Buzz is much more bigger! 7 seats... this is only advertisment... 😂😂😂
The short wheelbase ID Buzz is around this size and it has only 5 seats. In China there so many 7 seat EV MPVs in the market in China, this is something different.
@@ChinaDriven not right. short wheelbase is available with 6 seats ;-)
No projector, no camping mode. We expect more from Chinese cars these days.
hahahaha. But it does have camping mode, it within it's 12 modes. Also the car has 3.3kW V2L so you can run your own projector.
